  1. What are you shooting? Does max speed matter? I shoot the XT1, XT2 and the XH1 with my original lenses from 2012 including the 60mm 2.4, the 35mm 1.4, and the 18-55. I find them all "fast enough". I shoot four small grand kids - aged 12 months to 8 years old with ANY of these lenses and I don't have much of a problem. Yes, I do miss focus every now and then, but for the most part I nail the shots I need. I use zone focus, 9 points, and away I go.
  2. I was satisfied with my XT1 and XT2 -- that is, until I fell in love with the XH1!! I still have the other two, but use them strictly as back up. The XH1 has been on sale for 1299.00 with the body, the battery grip, and three batteries. I'd try and stretch for that. I've been a Fuji shooter since 2012 with an X-E1 and the 18-55 and the 35mm 1.4 lens. If these options are still too expensive how about buying one of the optional grips? I've seen them on sale, for various Fuji series cameras, for under 75.00 Hope that helps. J
  3. I'd leave the 12. I packed my 12 2.8 Zeiss, and my 16 1.4 to Iceland. In two weeks there I used the 12 2.8 once, and the 16 1.4 exactly ZERO times. I used the 16-55 2.8 on the X-H1 and the 50-140 2.8 on my X-T2. Originally I was going to pack one of my two 18-55 lens and the 55-200. But, after checking the weather I decided to go with the sealed lenses as rain was forecasted for several days of my stay there.
  4. Cards are dirt cheap. Replace and move on. I own over 30+ cards. each one is dated and numbered. Once they hit 3-4 years old, they get trashed whether they still work or not.
  5. I would also love to see the option as to whether to reset or not.
  6. I own TWO copies of the 18-55, as well as the 16-55 2.8. Other than a slight loss of sharpness wide open at the corners on the 18-55 at 2.8 and F4 on the long end, you really can't tell. The 16-55 has some better micro-contrast but again unless you are comparing them side-by-side you really can't tell.
  7. I own the Xt1, 2, and the X-H1. And I gotta say The x-H1 is freakin' amazing. I had originally bought the x-t3 but returned it due to the X-H1 on sale for 1299 with the grip and two batteries! Honestly, it is such an amazing camera, that I haven't touched my X-T2 since returning from Iceland where I had my 50-140 mounted on it, and the 16-55 on the X-H1.
  8. Well, the raw is always in color no matter what. However, if you use the FREE version of Capture one 12, I own the full Pro version of C1 v12 and I can change the raw file into whatever I want from a drop down menu. It has all the Fuji profiles.
  9. IF a polarizer is used with a wide-angle (such as the 16 1.4 or 12mm 2.8 it will show different effects where the sky will be darker in one area of the sky opposed to the other. I use Singh-Ray Warming Polarizer -- and even with the wide's I still get the "discoloration"
  10. Look at the X-H1. 1299.00 price can't be beat. I actually bought the X-T3, but when I saw the X-H1 for 1299 with the grip and two batteries, I returned the X-T3 and kept the X-H1. It's amazing, and can't beat the price.
  11. YEs. Medium Format on my Mamiya 645 AFD. Not as much as I should but it's there.
  12. Good for you! I have two copies of the 18-55 and I also own the 16-55 2.8. Guess which one I usually pick to take with me: 18-55. LOL I also own the 23 1.4, 35 1.5 and 60 2.4 -- But the 18-55 is just an awesome lens.
  13. I've printed up to 30 x 20 from a 6mp file way back in 2005. With the 24mp files, you can easily do 30 x 20 and larger! I've seen 40 x 30 and bigger at a Fuji show in NYC. Of course, we photographers tend to pixel peep. So if you stand back 3-4 feet the image, assuming you used proper shot discipline, will be amazing. At home I print 13 x 19 weekly but yeah you can go pretty large.
  14. Oh I forgot to mention you may want to look at the F2 series. I'll never own them, as I fund them butt ugly but hey, if they work for you, give them a try.
  15. My two-cents from experience: I had the 56 1.2. It sucked. I was shooting three events back to back in a beautifully lit church. Modern, windows down the side, skylights, gorgeous day. The 56 1.2 refused to focus correctly if at all and when it did it took forever. This was on a Sunday. I sent it back on Monday and then found a 60mm 2.4 Macro on sale new and bought it. Haven't looked back. I used the 56 1.2 on my X-T2 BTW. The 35 1.4 I purchased with my original X-E1 waaaay back in 2012. I LOVE that lens and there is no way I'll ever part with it. However, for family, kids for me it's a no-go. It does take a while to focus. I use it on my x-T2, x-T1 and my X-h1. I shoot my four grandkids aged 8 months, 2 years, 5 years, and 8. The 35 1.4, though you'd have to pry it from my cold dead fingers, sucks for moving kids. Period. For the kids, I use my 16-55 and my 50-140 2.8's. I set my cameras to C on the front, then go into the menu and set them up for a 3 x 3 zone and shoot away. You can try that with the 35 1.4, but I don't know how it'll work. I've used the 23 1.4 and my 16 1.4 for the kids and they both work marvelously. Hope that helps. Any questions, let us know.
  16. On my mac the Acquire software runs in the background. If you look at the top of the menu bar, you'll see it's up there. on the camera go to the wrench, Connection Settings, set it to PC Connection Mode, USB Auto Plug in a USB3 cable. Then click up on the mac bar at the top on the X icon and specify a destination folder for your files. You can then decide if you want to setup separate destination folder for Jpeg and Raw files. I put them in the same folder on my desktop. As you shoot the files will show up in whatever folder you designated, and will also be on the memory card. Let us know how it works out.
  17. I have mine set so I press the center Menu/Ok button... That takes me to the menus
  18. Try this: Go to the Wrench setting. then Connection setting Then PC Connection Mode Change it to USlB Raw Conv/backup Restore. Now connect the cable to the mac. Power on the camera. Give it a shot and let us know. If I have to, I'll try to walk through it step by step on my iMac.
  19. Well if you had used the SD card previously it'll start with whatever number you ended. However, if when you took the camera out of the box, and the plastic wrapping did not have the little silver tag, then it was opened previously.
  20. I have four grandkids. from 8 months old, to 8 years old. I use my XT2 with my 16-55 or my 50-140 2.8. They are a bit faster than the 35 1.4 (Which I also own and LOVE) but it's not for kids as the focusing is slow. I also set the camera to a AF-C on the front button, and change the focusing to a zone instead of single point. I've also used my 18-55, 23 1.4 to shoot the kids with really great results. Let us know how you make out.
  21. SAME HERE!!! i'd love to be able to choose between different aspect ratios.
  22. Not sure what to say here. If it's under warranty I guess you have no choice but wait, test, and decide. But if you are paying for this, and have an estimate, you can get a new X-H1 w grip for 1299.00 US. I know this isn't much help to you, but if it were me, and I had to pay to have the camera repaired I don't think I would do so.
