  1. Normally, since I have my phone with me I just snap a photo of wherever I'm at. Once I'm back at LR, I just copy the GPS info from a photo taken with my iPhone, to ALL the photos in that series taken with the Fuji. Takes me seconds and I don't have to spend any $ on GPS units, or worry about battery life etc. Besides, my iPhone 7Plus takes a heck of an image to boot!
  2. Unfortunately, and this is something that I and others have been clamoring for, is the Q menu settings don't always remain. Any changes you make to to ISO as an example in say C1, and you switch to C2, the ISO will not go to whatever you had C2 set, but stay and the changed ISO. This honestly sucks big time. I for one would like my C1, C2, etc. to be able to lock in the settings similar to Canon and Nikon cameras. I'm sure it just requires a firmware upgrade -- but for some reason, FUJI just doesn't get it.
  3. Shoot in raw + jpeg (fine) Try Velvia, or Astia. After the shoot, when you import (into LR) i assume, you can change the film simulation of the raw file to suit your taste.
  4. I own the X-T1 and X-T2 books by Rico. They are THE BEST out there!
  5. Lexar cards have been proven to be problematic in the past.
  6. I've only used a Giotto Rocket Blower. I've had my X-T2 going on almost two years and I've yet to have to do a wet cleaning; and I've shot from the humid Florida Keys and the Everglades, to snowy Maine and Canada. Sand, rain, wind, snow, ice, hale. So far, knock on wood, just blowing it out every now and then has kept my sensor very clean.
  7. That dial is basically useless. I have to be ever so gentle to the point where I have to take my fingernail and use it to rotate the rear command dial if not It's too easy to press in. I HATE IT
  8. So, now that the Fuji 8-16 has been announced, I'm waiting to see who will carry the beasts like pack mules such as the holy trinity: 8-16 16-55 50-140 Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? IMHO that is just too large. I moved to Fuji not only for ease of use, and quality images, but it (was) all wrapped up in a smaller, compact, lightweight package. No more it seems...
  9. AGREE 100% The 18-55 is my "don't leave home without it lens" that is until my daughter took it together with my X-T1. The 55-200 goes on the road with me as well and I find it to be an AMAZING lens. Compact, lightweight (compared to say the 50-140), cheaper, great lens hood to protect lens from water droplets in the rain, and damned sharp. To me it is an unbeatable combination!
  10. In case I haven't mentioned it before: I love these images!
  11. Wow. Thank you for that! I'm humbled. And I hear ya!!! Believe me.... I hear ya.
  12. You know I have considered the 16-55 except for the size and weight. I will have to physically hold it. My 18-55 was just so darn sweet. I do love the primes, but that whole swapping thing, especially on a windy, sandy beach is just not for me.
  13. Well guys and gals I just returned from a 10 day shooting trip up into PEI (Canada) using only my primes. I did not enjoy swapping lenses at all. Period. I may have to consider getting my hands on a short zoom again...
  14. Well I have primes, I just don't enjoy using them all the time. They are somewhat sharper, clearer, and faster but the 18-55 is just so much more convenient.
  15. Thanks George, Agree teaching would not have been my first choice of profession, but she will make an excellent salary. She is also considering some teaching positions in Alaska after graduation! I lived up there, and she's seen my photos so she wants to go for a couple of years. Can't say I blame her. I'd go back if I could, and were younger.
  16. So my daughter, who already has taken ownership of some of my Nikon gear, has fallen in love with my X-T1 and my beloved 18-55 lens! She's been home from school for three months and returns next week for her final semester. She has started a "new teachers blog" and has been using my X-T1 with the 18-55 to film it. Now, she wants to take the X-T1 and the 18-55 back with her. I don't care about the X-T1, but it's gonna hurt real bad not having the lens. As many of you know, that's my "don't leave home without it lens". I'm very torn up. Initially I gave her, yes, gave her the X-T1 and the 23mm 1.4 as the 23 is not a lens I use often but every time I came home she had the 18-55 on there. I have a feeling I'm going to lose it. So, it looks that I'll be a prime shooter for at least six months -- Except for my 55-200, all my lower range lenses are primes. I'm very, very nervous about not having that lens in the bag. I can't tell you how many times I've gone out with the sole intention of shooting with the primes, have gotten so frustrated and fed up and just switched over to the 18-55 and was as happy as a pig in sh*t. Lordy Lordy....
  17. I own the 55-200 and I love it! It is relatively lightweight compared to say the 50-140, and the 18-135. It is tack sharp, relatively fast at a max aperture of I believe 4.8. The focus is super fast, but I don't shoot sports so... I've never tried photographing BIFs so I can't speak to that. The 18-135 is a decent lens but it does get knocked around on sites for not being sharp, blah, blah. However, for us mere mortals I do believe it would be a fine lens AND it's WR. To me the WR means nothing as I use ALL my Fuji lenses in inclement weather but I suppose it does provide some piece of mind. I chose the 55-200 over the 50-140 due to price, weight, and range covered. The 18-135 to me is too large, sorta like the 16-55. If I wanted to carry the weight around (again) I'd of kept my Nikons. Hope that helps, but I will reiterate I LOVE my 55-200. It doesn't go everywhere like my 18-55 and 35 1.4, but it does get used (ALOT)
  18. Hey there, my apologies for not responding sooner but I was down in the Keys shooting. I do not keep them in anything when they are on my desk. The desk back rests up against a wall so no danger of them falling. I do not have a charging station. I charge the batteries once I return from a session and they pretty much all stay charged. The 77mm setup is pretty sweet. One step up ring is cheap, the 77mm lens cap are even cheaper, this way you can swap filters amongst the different lenses and it works great.
  19. if all you are going to carry is the x100F and a Mac Pro, or air, then the Tenba 5 Retrospective series - maybe the 5 or 10 may fit the bill. If you don't care about name brands (like me) then check out amazon. I've gotten $30.00 bags that hold my camera gear, my Macbook Air, and lenses + accessories. And they do not look like camera bags at all. Also, if you live in/near a big city try the local Salvation Army store. I've seen amazing bags there for a few bucks as well.
  20. Scratches are part of a camera's life. It shows character. Don't be a noob that keeps their cameras pristine.
  21. I'd take the 16 1.4 It's a pseudo-macro for all the tiny tundra flora, and a very, very nice wide lens. I'm heading to Anchorage next March for the Iditarod and will be packing: X-T1 and X-T2 bodies 18-55 (my don't leave home without it lens) 16 1.4 60mm 2.4 Macro 55-200 Zoom 35 1.4 12mm Zeiss. I'l most likely leave my 23 1.4 at home.
  22. I was considering the 50 F2 but instead went with the multi-purpose 60mm f2.4 macro. Just an amazing tack sharp lens. Does it hunt? Yup. Is it slow? Sometimes yup. Would I swap it out for anything else in the Fuji line-up at the current timeframe? NOPE.
  23. DAMN brother. That is hideous.
  24. Been using this polish for over 10 years and still no detrimental effect. However, I will agree that ANY type of polish is an abrasive and will remove fine layers of coatings, and/or paint. That's how you get the smoothness and shine on an automobile. Polish, and wax.
