  1. The new macro now promised is good, I had the 60mm macro with my X-Pro1 Version 1 firmware had I hung-on maybe with firmware updates it might have improved my experience - alas just to hasty. They problem was I was spoilt , I had the Nikon 105Macro many consider this to be Nikon's best lens. From time to time I will spend a day working with a macro lens, natural sunlight shafting through the window, 10 different orchids from the garden. Then there is portrait it has been a long time coming but to connect/synchronize a number of flash heads with easy (thank you Mr Godox). cheap stands and willing bodies make for a interesting experience. I don't have studio flash heads no justification, but with the new XIT I can resort to hand held flash.
  2. I too get uneven battery discharge. What I did is take all 3 batteries out and charged them with the single cell Fuji charger. Then installed them the Original 's' spec Fuji battery in the body and 2x 3rd party cells same age and usage. They provided good service with my XT-1 then XT-2. What happened then was the first battery almost depleted before moving on to the next grip cell. Before going any further recharged in suite using the grip charger. Boost on and off - see what happens now. I feel this is less than satisfactory as being able to predict battery life is critical. I would like to buy 3 new 's' spec batteries but there is a problem where I live - too sad to tell
  3. Hi Fuji Fans. Monday I used my FF350 mainly as a fill in flash cos of the bright sun. I had put in a pair of good quality Alkaline batteries, after a number(200+) of flashes I was not flashing every time, did observe a brief display of word LOW - that's simple. When I got home I measured the voltage of the batteries and was surprised 1.55V that is hi for a LOW indicator. I did switch to TTL 1/128s and was able to get more shots. Odd, maybe over the following weeks/months other members with multi-meters might wont to check the battery voltage when changing them. PS XIT-f due next week from China I wont to try it with the EF-42 as a slave.
  4. Mine arrived direct from China on Monday(7 days total order time) - works well and for $79 just the job. Rushed into the garden to try a shot or 2 @ 1/8000 was great. Happy. X1T-f will be available next week probable.
  5. Mike G thanks for the overview huge amount of work there - impressive. 16-55 vis 18-55 I have been there but because the change coincided for me at the time I changed from XT1 to XT2 I cannot say 1 set of images are better than another. But what I can say the XT2 and the 18-55 work together beautifully and got better after firmware updates. What is better for certain indoor school shows something I have been attending for 10 years{kids} I get more and more more successful photos ie in focus. What has not worked any better is the Fuji EF42 {used with XPro-1 XT-1 and XT-2} I avoid using it if possible[HSS to the rescue maybe]. Also Important for me is dust resistance living 13 degrees off the equator means hot and dusty big time. But what about humidity resistance dew points etc? Anybody know?
  6. yesterday Friday 9/6/17 took delivery of extension tubes 10 and 16mm long Trade marking DG they fitted on to the XT-2 and the 50-140 Zoom easily. With the setup supported by the lens mount all worked well, there was some slackness between the body and the tubes. For the hell of it I fitted the 2x Fuji converter directly to the body then both extension tubes set the camera on auto focus and auto exposure basic settings and the Zoom at Max, in effect a 280mm lens with 10+16mm extension tubes. The purpose of this quick test was to see how usable the setup was, I am pleased. Not much of a financial risk at $10 for both tubes. In my experience there is no point in putting a link to where I got the Tubes from as the price and availability on Chines web sites varies so much on a daily basis. I have used Aliexpress a lot which is Hongkong based. If you are new to shopping on-line always look at the price and shipping costs(if any) my tubes were $10 free shipping the same tubes are listed at very different prices. {Needless to say the normal security arrangements need to be taken}.
  7. I am guessing all optical production is being taken up with all the new Fuji glass including the video specific lens - ugh. The humble macro might be seen as not quite so main stream. As an interim solution I have ordered fully auto extension tubesx2 for the incredible price of $12. Some comments have not been so good, ie poor contacts and build quality not so hot but at that price whats to worry. As long as it does not require great effort to mount. The combinations I plan is 55-140mm zoom 1 1+2 and the 2x converter agh might be completely unusable but fun trying. Better dust off the tripod.
  8. OK the new macro lens will be 80mm - its in Fuji's Road Map as a further feature it will be compatible with the 1.4 and 2x converters. I was able to get a 2x converter at a very good price, works very well with the 100-400 zoom. My question is does anyone have any idea when we might be able to buy the new 80mm Macro Lens?
  9. A contact from China told me Godox may have limited number of Fuji units with HSS in July. I hope that this is 2017.
  10. I had the 60mm Fuji Macro lens disappointed with it 1:2 no good for me. The new offering from Fuji will be 1:1 so I believe but their will be a further advantage in waiting because it will be compatible with the 1.4 and 2x Tele converters. A few months back I was considering a 1.4x or maybe 2x converter, at one time the price was the same. Where I live availability and high import tax makes getting stuff particularly expensive. One day I went to a camera store that was not a Fuji dealership to have a look at camera bags but their in the bottom of a display case was a 2x Fuji Converter at a hell of a good price. Had a look on line here the cheapest x1.4x was $90 cheaper. 1.4x or 2x no boner. Results with my 100mm to 400mm are very good even hand held. In days of old with low ASA film the loss of 2 stops sensitivity was an issue but now with the superb sensors we have have great results for most applications. Gut feeling non real tested but the 2x is not quite as good with the 50mm 140mm zoom as the 100mm 400mm zoom. BUT BUT I could so easily be totally wrong I know.
  11. When I first had my XT2 this happened to me - went to re set the camera but no fix. But then looked deeper and found the problem in the "Colour Balance" settings the radar view showed the selection spot off to the right - great. Well so I thought same thing happened later but this time I went to the Q button and selected White Balance and made my normal selection of Auto. The problem has not returned. I thinks their is a minor software/firmwear issue.
  12. Hi Folks, I thought this subject was finished BUT...... referring back to my original post yesterday I came across a number of people who expressed there thoughts on having a ArcaSwiss mount on big lens, also TAMRON think its a good idea as they have done it on(at least) 2 of their lens that I know about TAMRON 70-200 VC G2 and the 150-600C lens. I found this information on YouTube, there are loads of contributions. To conclude PLEASE Mr Fuji adopt ArcaSwiss mounts on your big lens.
  13. Milandro, my proposal would in no way compromise what Fuji do. All I suggested was an improvement and not intended as a solution to a problem that doesn't seem to be there, Mike makes that abundantly clear. I use a Manfrotto tripod with a Sirui head (It only cost $20 from a dealer) that was my introduction to Swiss Arca - then I added the bracket for my X-Pro1 first. Finally, I am glad for you Milandro if you think the $20 or so is pennies to you.
  14. Tough stuff, some one asked the question what makes pro kit pro or words to that effect, Maybe part of the answer is here. Mike G I feel for you, do you have a good heart doctor on call? Be COOL.
  15. Thanks Mike just the job - ouch the price. Milandro, thanks for the suggestion, I already have bolt on plates very cheap($15) direct from China. My point was OEM's should have a wider eye on what would be good to incorporate in what is expensive kit rather than look to the aftermarket for solutions. The interest in ARCA Swiss mount seems quite wide, Body mounted brackets are very popular, changing from landscape to portrait using a ball head tripod heat is a fiddle. The problem I have is I wont a bracket for my X-T2 like the one on the X-T1 ie with finger grip. The current X-T2 brackets don't have the finger grip. I am sure it will happen soon - it just need patients.
