You pay YOUR state's tax rate. I understand that B&H has some payment card that will REFUND the tax. I think it's called PAYBOO or something silly. Before jumping in I would look into it carefully though.

I own TWO copies of the 18-55 which I LOVE as well as the 16-55 2.8. Both are amazing lenses. The 16-55 may prove a bit "front heavy" on the smaller camera. And the choice of lenses depends on what you will be photographing. Let us know and someone here will have further recommendations.

Hello, and thank you for responding! It's great to hear feedback on the feedback! If you are financially able to go the medium format route then only you can make that decision - that is my brain speaking. My heart says: Hell yes! It's an amazing camera. Before you make that leap have you considered renting one for a few days or a week? Yes, it will cost you, but in the longterm it might save you money as you may find it's not for you. I have to agree with Herco whereas if you are not going to print BIG then no worries. I've printed gorgeous 30 x 20's with much smaller cameras. Again: it boils down to technique more than anything else. If you are pursuing going into photography as a career a medium format camera will "future proof" you for some time to come. There is nothing like a medium format image! And I have to disagree with your statement that FF is like MF. It is not. I've shot all three formats and even looking at images on the camera display, there is a difference. However, you go with regards to a Fuji in all honesty you can't go wrong! Good luck in all your future endeavors.

I have never owned a X100 series camera. I do hear they are very compact and portable, and amazing. I have owned the "rangefinder" styl X-E1 which got my started with Fuji then I stupidly sold it and bought the XT1, XT2, and XH1. I've always loved the X-E1 so when Fuji came out with the 50R for me it was the BEST of both worlds. Medium Format (harking back to my Mamiya 645 AFD Film cameras) AND a rangefinder style. Now, I've owned the 50r since November and I must say I try and use it for everything as much as possible. I've even used the 50R to shoot a children's soccer match -- which I do not recommend LOL. Anyway, I ramble. Except for one thing: I love the small form factor of my X-E1 as it fit in my work briefcase so I now have the 27mm 2.8 pancake mounted on my X-T1 which is comparably tiny and carry that to the office and back. However, there is no comparison to using the 50r. If you can afford it, and maybe justify it's use and expense, I'd go for that. But if you are only shooting for online purposes then it's overkill. I shoot for various agencies, plus stock doing travel and landscape and the camera will pay for itself in a matter of a year or so; plus, as a small business I can depreciate it and save some tax. Hope that helps somewhat, but I would sit and consider what it is you want to accomplish and how to go about it. and as you may have read in my profile I have never ever shot street, and never will as I can't stand people. LOL so I can't help. you there. Good Luck and please let the community know what you've decided.

To answer your question no. I connect the XT2, XH1 and GFX to my iPad, iPhone. If you care to elaborate on what you are doing, maybe someone here can help you.

My XH1 and GFX 50R both came with manuals in the box. If not, and I don't agree with what I'm about to say as I feel it is the manufacturers responsibility, but you can download the manual and take it to Staples or any office supply store and have them print it for you in double-sided booklet style.

Which FujiFilm for landscapes and seascapes?
jlmphotos replied to atyl1972's topic in General Discussion
APSC is good enough. Many years ago I shot with Nikon - D800 and D800e with the trinity of lenses, as well as with film Medium Format Mamiya 645 AFD's. My first mirrorless Fuji was an X-E1, then the XT1, 2, and the XH1. I've made 36 x 24 prints from the XT1 which was "only" 16mp that will blow anyone away. It all comes to shot discipline -- Tripod, focus, exposure, etc. etc. I sell thousands of images around the world and many prints as well. I've never, ever had anyone ask me, nor say to me anything about not having enough pixels. It's all about YOU and how you approach the subject. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. -
I've bought gray market. Back in my Nikon days and NEVER had an issue - but I also never had to send one of my Nikon's in for service.

Fujifilm X-e3 and Macbook air 2020
jlmphotos replied to Julian Bonpland's topic in General Discussion
Here's how I got my X-H1 to connect to my MacBook Air. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the Mac. Go to the camera menu > Wrench > Connection Setting > Go to PC CONNECTION MODE, then, Right arrow, and select "USB CARD READER" This worked for me as I was able to import my images. Hope that helps. -
Embedded Image Preview or Added Contrast in ACR
jlmphotos replied to yimmyayo's topic in Fuji GFX 50R / GFX 50S / GFX 50SII
Compared to the JPEG? If so, that's normal. I get that across my X series and G series Fuji's, and past Nikons. That's normal. Remember the JPEG is an oven baked cookie. If you want to see the RAW file, with the same settings as a JPEG you can do so in either LR, or Capture One by using the same profile in LR or C1 that you shot in. Say, Provia, Astia, etc. etc. I'm not sure if I answered your question fully as I am not sure what you are comparing the raw file out of camera to. -
ND filters and X-H1 autofocus
jlmphotos replied to M_freeman's topic in Fuji X-H1 / Fuji X-H2s / Fuji X-H2
Ah the beauty of mirrorless. You can focus and do what you need with the ND filter(s) on - unlike dSlRs. I have not had any issues focusing with ND's on my Fuji's if that helps. -
Who's opinion do you most trust on Youtube about Fuji?
jlmphotos replied to antsyl's topic in General Discussion
HA! I really don't post much which some folks tell me that's the issue. Honestly, I think I suck at it. I do enjoy teaching -- something I do quite often at local clubs, and at the high school(s) -
What don't you like about the new GFX 50R?
jlmphotos replied to algrove's topic in Fuji GFX 50R / GFX 50S / GFX 50SII
The LCD only works horizontally (?). If you place the camera in a portrait/vertical orientation the rear LCD does not title upward like the XT2, X-H1 and other cameras. Hope that help. -
Me needs the GFX 100-200 lens but not at 1999.00, I'd only buy it at 1599.

What don't you like about the new GFX 50R?
jlmphotos replied to algrove's topic in Fuji GFX 50R / GFX 50S / GFX 50SII
What don't I like? The fact I don't have a second 50R body as I'm trying to sell some of my X bodies and lenses. LOL. Oh, and the fact the rear LCD doesn't articulate properly when the camera is in portrait orientation. That's it. -
Purple line on GFX50R sensor
jlmphotos replied to Daniele's topic in Fuji GFX 50R / GFX 50S / GFX 50SII
I would check in with fuji suppport in your area but to me, and I'm no expert, it looks like Like leakage -- of which there should be NONE. I've shot with the 50R uptimes o ISO 6400 and have never seen this. -
Pixel Shift? Don't even know what that is and I've been shooting for 36 years. All I know is I shoot pretty pictures. LOL. Sorry can't be of more assistance.

I've shot Fuji since 2012, and before that Nikon. I've been all digital since 2002. I can count on ONE HAND the number of times I've shot video with a camera. And, maybe TWO hands with my iPhone. And I have to ask as a GFX50R owner who in their right mind would want to shoot video with that, and why Fuji did you even add that feature to a medium format camera!!?? If Fuji had instead added an articulating screen like the 50S to the 50R, and cut out the video I would have much more use for that feature than video. Unless a UFO, or a Bigfoot stood between me and my landscape I would not shoot video - even if you paid me to.

Who's opinion do you most trust on Youtube about Fuji?
jlmphotos replied to antsyl's topic in General Discussion
Interesting note. Thank you. I started my own YouTube channel on photography - especially travel and landscape but I've yet to garner anything but immediate family and close friends (pity followers). LOL Good Luck!! -
Try Luminar. I own Lightroom, Capture 1, iPhoto library, and Luminar. I do believe Luminar will do the job - for both JPEG's now, and if you opt to shoot raw later. It is both an image management (library) and it has some serious functionality to edit your images. And, the added benefit of being a "buy once and own" with none of the monthly fees associated with the likes of LR, and Capture One - though I own C1 outright as well. Hope that helps.

Well, Since you seem to have all the answers, then no one needs to answer. Thank you

Opinions Wanted - Memory Card Sizes You Carry
jlmphotos replied to MailerDaemon's topic in General Discussion
That's a great point. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. That is something I've practiced since 2003 when I went digital. Now, this used to apply mores when we all lived in pre-historic times and only had only single card slots. In these modern times, and since we ( well at least I ) use the second slot as a backup at all times, I use larger 64G cards in both slots. In my 50R, I have a 64G in slot 1, and a 128G in slot 2. In my XH1, XT2 I keep 64G in both slots. Since I travel quite a bit as a landscape/travel guy, and hate carrying a laptop or other crap around other than my iPad, I carry about 30ea 64G card in a couple of Thinktank card wallets, double stacked. The way I work it is once the cards come out of the camera, those cards never, ever get close to the camera bag ever again. This way, if anything happens to my camera or camera bag, whether they be stolen or lost, the memory cards are always on my person whether out for dinner, or under my pillow in my hotel room. To me, the images become more valuable than the cameras. My used cards never meet the camera bag again until I'm back home and the cards are uploaded and backed up, and re-formatted. I am happy to say I've never, ever had a card go bad on me thank goodness; nor have I lost any using my method. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Hope it helped. -
Oh I use the Pentagon 50 1.8! I love it. I've also used Minolta 58 1.4 and a Minolta 135 2.8 on my X cameras. They all work wonderfuly

Have you tried switching to "spot" metering and placing the focusing square over the face? I've never used a Sony but I would imagine that should work no?
