  1. Yes, this is the exact same arrangement I have, except for the leather case (I'm interested to hear that the camera with filter plus "normal' plastic lens cap still fits in the Fuji leather case: with earlier X100 models that used to be a problem). And yes, great camera!
  2. I agree entirely about the ring adapter, Him. I realise that, with the current lens design, some kind of a spacer is needed so that the front element of the lens doesn't hit the filter when the lens is focused - but it's a clumsy arrangement nonetheless, especially having to remove the front ring first (and then make sure to not lose it!). I hope Fuji can improve on this in the future.
  3. Yes, I'm rather concerned about this, Mike G. The numbers on the dealers' websites don't seem to be going down much, either. I guess you're right about the 8 -16mm probably being launched at the same time as another new camera (like the X-T3!). I hadn't thought this through, but it would fit with past patterns. (Sigh...) - decision time!
  4. My thoughts exactly, Mike G and cale33. The X-H1 is everything I'd hoped it would be. I've been hanging on to my X-T2 thinking I might part-exchange it for the forthcoming 8-16mm f2.8 - but that seems to be a long time arriving (and will probably be a bit of a brick when it does!) But I will *definitely* be keeping my X-Pro2: I just love that camera. Perfect partner for the X-H1 as each has a slightly different things that it's best-suited for.
  5. Drake - Easily done, and I'm so glad you got it sorted! The 60mm is a great lens - one of my all-time favourites.
  6. Useful info, Chas; thanks. It does, however, appear to have accepted my pdf files of around 3.2Mb for the items that were already listed and which just needed the images of the receipts to be added. I think I'll give it a few weeks to settle down before I try again to load my two in-warranty items that aren't listed. (And, of course, it may actually be set up to NOT accept items that were already listed on the old FujiilmXWorld site: but it would be nice if they told you...)
  7. It should work in all focus modes, not just Manual. But, as claude says, you need to have single point focus (not zone focus) selected.
  8. I went back (when will I ever learn not to fight with wonky websites!) and tried to add to my profile two items that are still within the warranty period (it already had a few items there, including the X-H1 that I registered on FujifilmXWorld last month, but not the 80mm macro that I first registered in January or my X100F that I'd registered late last year). At first it appeared to let me add these two items on the registration page and upload the pdf proof of purchase, but when I hit the green button to enter the new information I got the white screen. And, yes, the info hasn't been registered. I'm assuming this is because these items had already been registered on the old FujifilmXWorld site - but if it's stopping people register newly-bought gear, that's crazy. In legal terms, though, I believe the warranty has to be honoured as long as one has valid proof of purchase to prove the gear is within the warranty period, irrespective of whether it has been registered on Fuji's website. It's not as if Fuji are offering anything over and above what the law already provides for.
  9. I had a similar email (I'm also in the UK). Mine had a link in it to set a password for the new Connect site. I hit the link, set a password and - the screen went blank. It must be a glitch. I closed the screen, went to the main FujifilmConnect site and found that I had in fact been logged in. My profile page was pretty bare: they hadn't carried over any information except my name and the last few items I'd registered for warranty. I'm interested to hear, Mike G, that it won't allow you to register all your stuff - so I won't even try! I have, however, gone to the old FujifilmXWorld site and printed off my full equipment list for safekeeping before they close that down. It's useful to have all the purchase dates and serial numbers in one place. Let's hope that the new site does eventually turn out to be an improvement!
  10. Hi Drake, this combination is fine on my X-T2. It sounds like a problem of communication between lens/MCEX-16 and camera. Maybe a bit of dust on one of the contacts?
  11. Hi cale 33, EL and AFL show up in the sub-monitor if you have engaged (respectively) exposure lock and auto-focus lock, either by half-pressing the shutter or by pressing the AE-L or AF-ON buttons. As to the greyed out choices under Mount Adapter Setting, I'm assuming they only get activated if you're using the Fuji mount adapter or another with electronic connections, but I don't have an adapter to test this. When I attach my Samyang lenses the settings remain greyed-out. Maybe someone else can help here?
  12. I guess you've tried cleaning the battery contacts - a light rub with a soft cloth? It would also be worth using a blower to clean out the battery compartment in case any dust or light debris is affecting one of the contacts there.
  13. I agree entirely, Mike G. At the moment the only way to turn this "feature" off is to put the camera into Boost mode. This is fine on the X-T2, X-Pro2, X100F etc (which also share this "feature"), but leaving the X-H1 in Boost mode drains the battery very quickly indeed. Interestingly, the feature is described (although rather vaguely) in the manual for the X-Pro2, which is where I first learned about it, but there is no mention whatsoever in the manuals for the X-T2 or X-H1. Not helpful, Fuji! (Minor irritations aside, though, I'm loving the X-H1.)
  14. You use the menu, just as with the other X-series cameras. It gives you the 3 options, Continuous, Shooting Only and Off.
  15. It had me baffled too! However, it's on p248 of the manual: screws into that tiny hole immediately below the micro USB port and if you loop the cable through the two hooks as shown, it serves to prevent the cable pulling out during tethering.
  16. Thanks for the edit. So it's actually not a problem with HSS: more a matter of adjusting your flash power and/or your aperture to balance the exposure in each case. Lots of possible variables. I'd recommend checking out The Strobist blog: http://strobist.blogspot.co.uk, which is packed with useful information. The lighting courses there (Lighting 101 etc) are excellent (and free).
  17. If the Godox flash is in the camera's hotshoe (or connected via an off-camera shoe cord), you CAN use HSS in Manual mode (just as in TTL mode), provided you have set the camera's flash menu sync settings to FP. For off-camera flash I use Yongnuo radio triggers which are manual-only, and HSS is not possible (the camera's flash menu sync settings allow a choice of Front or Rear curtain; FP doesn't show up as an option). But I don't know what the Godox X1T trigger will allow. Perhaps someone else can help here? (Personally, I'm happy to stick with my Yongnuos.)
  18. Hi oxjox, I use the Godox TT350F (but not the X1T, so I'm sorry I can't comment on that). Using just the flash in TTL mode you do need to enable FP in the sync settings of the XT2's flash menu at shutter speeds over 1/250; it won't go into FP mode automatically - at least I've never achieved that! (But as I say, I don't know about whatever settings might be available on the X1T trigger.)
  19. I'm very interested in Nero's comments above. I had exactly the same experience with a pre-ordered (that is, earliest production) 18-135. I sold it, but I decided last year to try again, as it's such a useful lens for general walkabout. The replacement lens does *not* have the problems of my earlier lens: resolution is pretty good at all focal lengths. So I too wonder whether there was some kind of quality control issue with those early batches of 18-135 lenses.
  20. I've now taken the plunge and bought this lens. I've only had it one day, and have taken only around 250 shots - all outdoors and handheld. Like Woodlander, I had been worried about the weight, as my main use for this lens will be field macro. However I'm finding that the weight is fine: the lens is very well-balanced and in practice it feels very much like the 90mm (and is rather better-balanced than, for example, the 16-55mm f2.8 zoom). I'm using it mainly on my XT2 with metal hand grip (Meike brand), but it also feels good on the XPro2, with or without grip. So far, absolutely no complaints. The OIS works well, but one important thing for intending purchasers to remember is that at distances approaching 1:1 macro, depth of field is extremely shallow, even on f11. So when hand-holding at these distances, moving the camera even a few millimetres forwards or backwards after focusing (very easily done!) will be enough to shift the plane of focus and blur the image, even with the OIS working perfectly. In other words, even the excellent 5-stop OIS on this lens will not *alone* guarantee sharp images handheld. (This of course applies to any true macro lens.) At longer distances, of course, it works like a normal mid-telephoto lens. Fast focus, very sharp - and I have no problem with the bokeh, which is generally very smooth. Anyhow, I hope these few preliminary comments help anyone else who's wondering about this lens. My dilemma now is whether to sell or keep my much-loved 90mm!
  21. Also, make sure you haven't enabled the electronic shutter: shutter setting should be MS only (not MS+ES, or ES).
  22. No inbuilt radio transmitter/receiver, only optical (pulses of light). I agree that it's a good flash, but for the high price currently being charged it's rather limited if you're wanting to use it as part of an off-camera set-up.
  23. A pleasure, Sherman. Hope you're having fun with the camera.
  24. I haven't got the X1 trigger (so apologies in advance if this suggestion isn't helpful), but with my Godox TT350F in the hot shoe, the focus assist beam on the flash will only work with the camera set in single shot mode (S, rather than C or M on the front switch). It may be the case similarly for other Godox flash gear?
