  1. The children's mini play castle (part of Boldt Castle property located at the 1000 Islands (in the St. Lawrence between USA and Canada)).
  2. Nice job! Great to see something new and unique for a change.
  3. I have tried a few different adapters, but have had the best consistent results with K&F Concept. I have a Fotodiox adapter for Nikon G (has ring to adjust lens aperture on modern G lenses) and it fits and works great on XT1, but does not fit on the XT2. Something about the lens mount on the XT2 is slightly different than the XT1 and the one Fotodiox Nikon G adapter (purchased 2.5 years ago) won't fit. It is very very tight to put on the XT2. So tight, that something isn't right and I don't want to force it. But on XT1 it fits perfect. The K&F Concept adapters I have for the other mounts (Minolta, Nikon, Canon FD) all fit great on both XT1 and XT2.
  4. I recently got off ebay (for $50) the Minolta 58mm/1.4 Stopped down to F2.8 - F5.6 it is impressively sharp. I got it to have a F2 portrait lens and its great for that. I shot some landscape/misc stuff a week ago @ F4 and F5.6 and every image was very sharp. Two thumbs up! I also have the Nikkor 105/2.5 mentioned above. For a greater focal length its great but DOF is noticeable smaller and thus a bit harder to nail focus. I haven't posted my personal experiences with the Minolta 58/1.4 but I have posted my experiences with the Nikkor 105/2.5 here -> http://www.adamwoodhouse.info/
  5. X-Transformer isn't much $ so I purchased it to give it a try. Having used Lightroom since Version 1.0, I'm quite comfortable with it. But the speed at which LR works with RAF files is painful, so I thought I'd try X-Transformer to see if I notice any difference in LR speed and a difference in the RAF details. To date, I haven't been unhappy with the LR RAF processing, just curious if better detail can come out of RAF files and if LR can perform better. On a recent wedding I shot (that is my primary photography) I had close to 2000 files. Half from XT1, half from XT2. I did the X-Transformer batch conversion of RAF files into compressed DNG. The settings I set in X-Transformer were those of the advice of a couple of photographers on this forum that use X-Transformer and speak highly of it. Once the X-Transformer batch conversion was done, I fired up LR and imported the DNG folder and then applied my usual colour profile of Astia to all of the images (since by default, just like the RAF files, no colour profile is applied ... so it is necessary to apply one of the Fuji colour profiles to get what I consider to be the correct look). I have no sharpening done in X-Transformer, so I needed to apply a little bit of sharpening in LR (approx value of 25 on the slider). End result looked pretty much the same as LR + RAF that I'm use to (with higher, more aggressive LR sharpening against RAF files). I found that LR's editing performance (Library and Develop modules) against DNG files was better. It wasn't drastically better (which I had hoped) ... but it was better. I noticed the improvement. In regards to sharpness or 'worm' effect of foliage, I wasn't pixel peeping too much but didn't notice any difference between my previous customized LR sharpening settings and the X-Transformer results. But my photo subject matter varies quite a bit when shooting a wedding (indoors, then outdoors, bright scene, dark scene, trees and no trees, etc). For those that do a lot of landscapes, they may notice it more than me. I gave X-Transformer a try because 1) I wanted quicker performance when using LR and 2) if my raw files had more to give me ... I wanted those results. Since many give a convincing argument that X-Transformer appears to resolve potential LR rendering problems (with certain RAF files) and yields quicker DNG file processing (Adobes own design) ... I figured I give it a shot and make it the first step in my workflow. I'm not a convert yet ... but am fine drinking the Kool-aid.
  6. Me and my Nikon 105mm F2.5 adapted to Fuji XT1 and XT2. http://adamwoodhouse.info/vintage-gear/nikon-105mm/
  7. Great to see vintage lens used. I have the Super Takumar 55/1.8 version plus Nikkor 105/2.5 and have on order (thanks eBay) the Minolta Rokkor 58/1.4
  8. Very odd. There shouldn't be any softness due to shutter shock. Since it sounds like you did everything correctly, I have to wonder if accidentally the S/C/M focus select got bumped and image wasn't properly focused first? Using back button focusing, regardless of focus mode should have set focus correctly ..... should have.
  9. I know it's pricey, but the 16-55mm/F2.8 lens is a great common usage focal range and is constant F2.8, very sharp and a very fast auto focus. Regardless if I have it on my XT1 or XT2, I can shoot my kids playing school sports in the gymnasium at school (lousy lighting) at ISO 3200 and F2.8 and still get 1/250 and sometimes 1/500 shutter speed and get many great shots with the 16-55/2.8. I use to have the 18-135 and just sold it yesterday. I wasn't using it. It was the first Fuji lens I purchased and it was great to get me started, but was useless for indoor photos. With the 16-55/2.8 and 35/2 ... you'll be in excellent shape for indoor or outdoor family photography. On a side note: When it comes to the XT1, I have found the best autofocus (AF) speed I get is shooting with single point autofocus point dead center. I either focus and recompose, or just crop after the fact. You need to use the shutter button to focus and not the AF-L button on the XT1 because the AF-L button is only contrast autofocus on the XT1 (which is slower than phase autofocus). The shutter button on XT1 is phase AF as long as focus lands in the small center area where the phase AF points are. On the XT2, shutter and AF-L are both phase AF (as long as subject is in the area of the phase AF points). Because the XT2 has a larger/more phase AF points, sometimes on the XT2 I use the multi-focus point option because phase AF is very fast and it covers a much larger area than on the XT1. But on the XT1 I have found since it has so few phase AF points that keeping single point AF and keeping subject/focus in the center seems to work for me. On XT1 I do a lot of focus, recompose and then capture.
  10. Colour content of the image will change file size. So they will bounce around in size. I tried to give a quick average.
  11. I believe you can have your M42 lens on the M42/PK adapter, then put that setup on a Fuji PK/FX adapter. It should work from what I've read on other forums where people have stacked adapters. It isn't stacked, but I have a M42 Asahi lens that I've mounted on my Fuji bodies with great success. LINK -> http://adamwoodhouse.info/vintage-gear/pentax-asahi-55mm/
  12. When I use Xtrans and convert my compressed XT2 raw files (average size 30meg) to DNG, the DNG seem to average around 70meg. They are substantially larger! I was quite surprised at first. For me its a non-issue because when I finish my editing in LR and export final images as JPG, I don't go back to the raw files so I delete them, regardless of file type or size. It's necessary for what I do. But for those that are digital hoarders ... the amount of HD space needed with DNG files that contain Fuji raw details ... your HD will get used up much much quicker.
  13. Don't think that is the case this time. I'm not in double exposure mode but it happens to me. It simply is a quick preview (instant image review) of the image you just took, but it only shows up on the rear LCD, so you can keep shooting with the EVF and not be interrupted in the EVF with image review after you snap the pic. It is to mimic a similar shooting experience to DSLR. Double exposure is a different beast and good details are here -> https://fujifilm-blog.com/2014/03/27/get-creative-with-multiple-exposures/
  14. I've seen this before due to florescent lights. I was told to shoot @ 1/60. Don't know if that was correct of can correct problem, but it might.
  15. It wasn't about pulling a leg and saying they are only meant for women. It was just a comment that the deep-v style isn't a common style for men versus a subtle v (as the Fuji shirt is a deep-v).
  16. lol Mine just started doing this as well. I figured I pushed a button or changed a setting somewhere without knowing I did so. i have yet to figure out how to turn that feature off.
  17. Well that is an odd and unfortunate event!
  18. I have a couple of K&F adapters and have been very happy with them.
  19. My Montreal wandering ... (with family). Fuji XT1 + 10-24/4. B&W+R or Velvia.
