  1. It would be a shame if the X-T2 was not better. Newer generation, faster processor, lessons learned from previous models. However, I am surprised to hear that Fujifilm did not use parallel processing in the X-T1. It sounds like a logical optimisation.
  2. From searching Google, I learned that it is the lens indeed. I don't complain about the focus hit rate though, even on a X-E1. And when it locks focus, it is spot on. It's just slooow when it starts hunting in less than ideal light.
  3. When my X-E1, with the XC 50-230 attached, finds a focus point, it is pretty quick. However, when it cannot find anything to focus on, then it takes an eternity before the lens has traveled the whole focusing range (and the red rectangle appears). I so understand that the X-E1 only uses CDAF focusing, while the X-E2 uses PDAF, which will be more reliable in low contrast situations. However, does the X-E2 (or X-T10) also get quicker to the conclusion that it cannot find a focus point? Or is the time that takes just a property of the lens? Anyone who tried the XC 50-230 on both the X-E1 and the X-E2 (or X-T10)? Thanks!
  4. The only thing I ever had issues with was the OVF. When turning the camera on, the plastic cover for the EVF would slide partly in front of the OVF. Took three trips to Fuji Kleve to have it sorted out.

  8. Well, that Fuji X-magazine app is among the worst I've seen. Dear Fujifilm, please get a good app designer (or digital publisher).
  9. I had the 18-55 and sold it again, due to its size. I now have the 18/2 and 35/1.4, and I'm very happy with that combination. For compact carrying, I use the 27mm.
  10. IMHO it's stupid to do this in the cameras; it should be done in the lenses.
  11. So ... is it not possible to reassign the AE-L function in MF mode? Apart from addicted2light's suggestion, it's awfully quiet in this thread ... surely some X-pert would have an idea?
  12. For outdoors with good weather, it is a very nice lens.

  14. I am down to two bags; a small LowePro which fits my X-Pro1 with a 1.4/35mm lens attached, plus some spare batteries. The other one is a LowePro Nova 4, which fits two X-cameras with small/medium primes attached, one or two additional lenses, plus some accessories.
  15. That is interesting, because my X-Pro1 does not do such a thing with the 18mm or the 35mm F/1.4 lenses. They make a whirring sound when switched off, but stay in the same focus position. And frankly, it would be unacceptable to me. Manual focus means manual focus. So I don't care where the helicoid or motor is when I switch it off; it should better be in the same position when I switch it on again. Especially with the OVF, it would be an extremely annoying bug if the focus moved on its own. At least on a high quality prime; I could accept focus shift when zooming on a zoom lens. Edit: I actually don't know what happens when the camera goes in sleep mode. I usually turn it off between shots. (checked it ... the original Fuji primes do not defocus when the X-Pro1 goes in sleep mode)
  16. I am really surprised by this; is it an X-Pro2 specific problem?
  17. If that really bothers you, simply wipe the camera clean before use. I personally couldn't care less who used it before (very unlikely to catch something from a camera lol). What might bother me is whether future firmware updates, offering improvementd, would only be released for the X-E2s, or also for the X-E2. Not sure if the assurance of having the latest model would be worth $200. But it is something to think about.
  18. That doesn't make the photo less significant, of course. To be fair, I don't know enough about the BLM movement to have an opinion. But the photo is very powerful.
  19. Especially with an X-Pro camera, there are distinct advantages to the 18mm. Besides, it renders differently than the 18-55, so the two lenses are not exchangeable for me.
  20. If adding video makes the cameras more expensive, more bulky, and more battery hungry, then I am not interested. I'd rather have Fuji focus on delivering the best photo camera instead. If they can deliver video without the shortcomings above, then why not?
  21. That's what I am going to do then
  22. That sounds great! Stupid question; how can I subscribe for the Brugge (Belgium) event?
  23. Good suggestion! That's worth trying. Still, it is not the same as the AE-L function, which you can configure to remain active between shots, until you cancel it.
