Velvia is too rich for me as well. For black and white, I often just use the JPEGs, since the X-Pro1 film simulations do a very good job. For colour, I generally use the RAWs, and either Provia or one of the standard Silkypix V7 film colours.
Just tried it with my old X-Pro1, with artificial light. It's slow but precise. No reason why the X-Pro2 would be worse.

In the X-E1 you can set the view mode to LCD, while keeping the shooting mode on EVF. Menu display is coupled with the view mode.

I'd rather buy a new X-T1 with warranty, given the teething problems the model went through (e.g. loose coverings and failing seals (the door notably).

I think the whole "Kaizen marketing blabla" is a bit over hyped. If not by Fujifilm themselves, then certainly by blog owners and reviewers who keep on rambling about it.

Sorry?
Are you sure you posted on the right forum?
At the TS; have fun with the camera! I think you bought it at a good time with all those discounts.

The X-T2 also looks like it is bigger, which I see as a negative. Besides, I would not want to do without an optical viewfinder.

Well yes, I do indeed ... Pentax Takumar lenses no less (their 55/1.8 is brilliant). Another of my favourites is the CZJ Sonnar 135/3.5. I am contemplating a focal length reducer now, specifically for the Pentax Takumar 35mm and 55mm lenses.

Doing most of that already (apart from the driving less due to my job).
I am sure that cameras could be designed so that software could keep them current for let's say five years. It just requires a different mindset from manufacturers and consumers.
At this moment they are in a rat race to deliver new models every two years, even if hardly anything changed internally. That's a waste in many ways.
