I am going to guess you meant the 56mm F1.2, right ? Anyway, welcome around ! I have been mulling around the idea of using the OM-D E-M5 mkII for the IBIS when using legacy lenses, would you have any experience with that ? I am mostly wondering about how good/bad the Olympus system is for manual focusing. Since you have the mkI version, can you have a small test with the Fuji system and let me know ?

Well, you are clearly going to see the filter holder in front of the OvF, even the 18-55 lens kit protrudes into the OvF on the X-Pro2, which I find rather annoying. Hence the EvF in that case. As personal choice, I dislike the screw on filters, it forces me to buy several of them while the holder can have several rings for my need and cost a LOT cheaper. Plus side, if you ever decide to change system, your holder kit system can still be used. Not so plus side, it's a bit annoying to use in a rush, then again if you are doing long exposure in a rush, you better not do it at all. Do keep in mind I am speaking from a still photography perspective, if you are filming, the screw on filter is invaluable as time saver and practicability.

Psst.. It's Sugru ;] And I love it, got myself several packs of them to fix part of my umbrella, holes in my shoe along a computer headset hanger right on the side of my computer casing.

X-Pro 2 with XF 55-200 issue
darknj replied to Philhifi's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
If I recall correctly, you have to set the aperture to A and then you will be able to change it with the back dial. -
Locking focus and one more question inside...
darknj replied to jwarstyle's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
Easiest way to do that is to use manual focus and still the AF-L button and refocus if your point changed.- 4 replies

35mm 1.4 Issues on X-Pro 2
darknj replied to thedwp's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Well, all good then! I would be more worried if it stopped making any kind of noise when using it rather Then again, I use it on very regular basis. Preferences, choices, and all that :] -
x-t1 view finder lag in burst mode?
darknj replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
Oh it will get there, I am not worried about it. The Sony a6300 is already showing the premises of it, even if their workaround can be prone to epilepsy. But really are going to get there. In the meantime, APS-C DSLR is there to fill in the technical gap. The right tool for the right job. -
35mm 1.4 Issues on X-Pro 2
darknj replied to thedwp's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
If we want to be really picky, the F2 is sharper at F2, but it doesn't contrast as good as the F1.4. I went and pulled the trigger to have both, very recently anyway, I need another WR lens for another trip in Asia this summer anyway. -
I just want it to be pancake sized! I would pack it with any of the 35 and the 27 to boot and I have enough to play with when doing some streets

35mm 1.4 Issues on X-Pro 2

Hasn't it been that noisy before? The 35 1.4 is known to be rather noisy when focusing -
x-t1 view finder lag in burst mode?
darknj replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
4.2 but the slide show is much slower than 8 fps, it is way to slow to follow something with erratic movements -
Sony RX100 mkII ? Same price range, slightly larger sensor, 20MP BSI, 2 more stops of native ISO, roughly same zoom length, only draw back, the Sony got slower aperture lens. Panasonic GM1 ? A bit cheaper body only, much bigger sensor, can use any of the ocean of lenses in the m43 mount, at least one higher stop in native ISO (not certain if native is a 6400 or 12800on the GM1). Yeah, a bit crowed in that area...

While I am sure that many of us can get behind the idea of loving the gear that has served us for several thousands of shutters, we can not help but lust after the newer versions, the brightness and new shines from it attracts us like moths toward a candle. Personally, I love my X-T1, it will be my main camera for years to come. I gave the X-Pro2 a try, and while it is a bit faster, it's not enough to make feel like changing body. If the X-T2 follows the same upgrades as the X-Pro2, there are absolutely no reasons for me to get the X-T2 either. But on the other hand, I can lust about gear that my Fuji is unable to bring me, the Nikon D500 is a very good example of this. Will it replace my Fuji ? Not at all, but it does fit in a gap in my toolset that the Fuji is unable to compete against at this time. I will certainly wait until mid june before taking the decision on the Nikon D500 and keep enjoying my time with the Fuji gear.

x-t1 view finder lag in burst mode?
darknj replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
I went birding with the X-T1 about two weeks ago. While the camera got me decent pictures here and there, it was a nightmare to follow up the birds with erratic flight pattern as the EVF turns black fully during the picture acquisition. Of course, the next time I go birding again, I will do better and even more so with subsequent visits. But I would have had a much easier time if I just took a D3S with any zoom lens. But this is not just the X-T1, any mirrorless currently suffers from the black EvF during shooting, the only known exception is the Sony A6300, which works around that by displaying the shots on the EvF in burst mode, kind of stroboscopic-like. If you have epilepsy, better avoid the new Sony a6300. -
Wireless TTL flash with Fuji X-T1
darknj replied to rjmvandermeulen's topic in Flash Photography with Fuji X
I don't think there are any wireless TTL solution yet for the Fuji flash system. We are expecting a few things from the new Nissin i60 flash as it has radio built in but until release and tested, there really isn't much for off camera TTL. -
A covert bag for traveling in cities
darknj replied to ajurjans's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
Best advice I can give you, limit your lenses down to 2, maybe 2 lenses and add the 27 to go with you. Anything more is going to need more decent bag unless you do not mind lens stacking nor having them jiggle all in your bag. As for the bag itself, you will be best served by converting a regular bag into a camera bag. Steal some padding here and there from your camera bags and make it a bit better for your camera and lens. But if you want to add the bottle, the gorillapod, the umbrella along a rain coat for the bag, it's going to scream "I got stuff inside!". Plus most of the pickpocket are able to detect a tourist from a local from a glance. The thing that will make you out is the clothes. If you aren't dressing at local shops, you will stand out from the locals at lot more. Rather than trying to find a bag that will make you fit in, pay more attention to your surroundings, if you look alert, keep a certain distance from the anyone unknown, no matter how nice/pretty/innocent they look should already be something. A simple "I don't know, I can not help you" goes a very long way to keep your gear safe. Avoid any kind of external sign of wealth, that means ANY jewelry, even your wedding ring stays at home or in a bank's safe, simple clothes, I personally like to pack clothes only for the first and last day and buy what I need locally. And pick practical stuff over design and look. Travel light during your visit, leave most of what you don't need at the hotel rather than with you. Everything you need should fit into a single bag, no more than that. Keep photocopies of your passport, leave the real document in the hotel and take the copies with you, make several of them if needed, it's cheap and still worth it as official document should you be in a pinch. Make copies of outside and inner page with your ID picture and if you have a VISA in there, copy it too. If you are not traveling alone and setup a very simple rule of never watching in the same direction. With my wife, we always watch in opposite direction while standing next of each other, if we are being approached, I pass my stuff to her and turn around so she is clearly within my view and don't get whatever map/paper they would be holding in my face. Even better if we can find a nice wall to block anything from coming from behind us. Those are my rules and they work for me as I travel to Asia around once a year. -
Question, where did you got that information about the cropped MFD sensor ? As far as I know, there is only Medium format (roughly 44mm x 33mm or 1.7 x 1.3 inches) larger than this is called Large Format/ Unless I am missing something ?
-
Please do not mind my post... Got confused with 2 release dates... Anyway, it will be rather hard to find someone with an X-Pro2 that uses screen protector, not many use that for cameras. I guess the best thing is to give it a try and report back ?
-
I sure hope not ! It would have costed 9000€ body only and would have to mortage your first born to get a couple of lenses... Leica is still a prestigious name but please let them stay as far away from my Fuji gear for as long I draw breath.
-
I went and just got mine at one point, even if I don't use it as often as my Manfrotto, I still enjoyed it the times I took it out with me and know that I was going to use it. There are plenty of flaws on it, but the practicability and the small form/weight of it does have its appeal. I can put it up in many places and since the X-T1 is relatively small and light, you are not at all limited in its usage, please, it can serves as a very rudimentary camera rig, it's not perfect but still better than handheld.
-
Why would you have made a bad choice there ? You obviously know your way around a camera and if the M9 pleases you and you have the money to spare for it, why not pick it up and enjoy it ?
-
Leica has always been regarded as some kind of good/great company, but lately they seems to have lost their touch, nothing they released after the M9 is worth much excitement, the Q is an okay camera, the M240 is just plain. They are still very nice to you for those that can appreciate rangefinders and the lens are still silky smooth to focus with, but really nothing major, nor impressive was released Leica for a good while now.

Got some alert about it from the office network but works fine from home, I assumed it was my office network being a bit paranoid...

Yep, only MS shutter, not even MS + ES, which I find rather silly. But that's the way it is.
