I imagine they didn't want to call much attention to it initially. All the nikon bodies I owned had a vignetting option in the menus.

I don't think fuji would have bothered doing firmware 4.0 for the x-e2 if it wasn't a popular product.

For a good indicator of the above look at the size of the rear element on the XF27mm, far bigger than the front one! http://www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/x-mount-lenses/27mm-f28/D3S_1229-back.jpg

for astrophotography a motorised mount is probably a much better/cheaper idea.

Third option: samyang 12mm

Seems utterly pointless. Have you even used a wide prime? wow I'm a mean drunk

Complete Overview over the available and upcoming Fuji X-Mount lenses
frod replied to quincy's topic in Fuji X Lenses
I don't think there is much point including discontinued lenses, or else you might as well start including adapted glass as well. Treat it as a buyers guide for new lenses IMO. -
I do enjoy using my old Nikon lenses with focus peaking. I'd want to know what it does for size and weight though, assuming they'd also support AF - or else what's the point when so much legacy glass exists.

The transition from focus to out of focus on the 23mm is absolutely delicious. 80%+ of my photography is done with that lens.
-
If they are moving the x100 line to 27mm it could mean a smaller 35mm f2 is a possibility for x mount.

It's winter. We can't all jet off to Cuba for a few pictures.

Consider the samyang 12mm instead. It's faster, cheaper and weighs a lot less. It's manual focus but at that length it's not hard to nail focus.

I think I'd go with horses for courses and get a dedicated video camera. There are just too many other things to consider.

the 60mm is pretty light - lighter than the Samyang at 215g.
-
The Fuji vs Fuji comparison picked out the 18-55 as having the best vignetting performance too.
-
The standout things for the 16-55mm for me are the pre-corrected distortion and vignetting, can those really be down to a bad sample?
-
Just noticed Photozone have added a few reviews recently, the pro zooms and the 90mm. http://www.photozone.de/fuji_x

For me the versatility and OIS is well worth the weight with the 50-140mm. That lens can do things that nothing else can on a fuji body. The 16-55mm maybe not so much, but then I prefer to carry two bodies with a couple of primes rather than zoom. I didn't keep my 16-55mm that long, it's a lot of lens to only be using sparingly.

The samyang 12mm is well worth considering for a wide lens. Compact, and for me its price is exactly relative to how often I use it. I personally don't see a lot of point in spending more on a wide than a normal.

I sampled fuji because they appeared to strike a good balance between size and quality. I stayed with fuji because they obviously listen to photographers and prioritise the enthusiasts. Canikon stuff is good but their priority is clearly big full frame DSLRs, I'm not sure what Sony's priority is beyond creating cameras that tick as many technical feature list items as possible. I still haven't seen them create one native lens that I would want. Sony seem to breed arrogant fans who don't want to discuss their systems shortcomings; I'm not sure what that's all about. Also, i remember XD memory cards. At some point Fuji got real, because I'm not a huge fan of proprietary standards so I'd never even looked at them while they were still shipping cameras with that storage type.

I have just had to return my XF 60MM due to the aperture ring registering the widest two notches as Auto aperture, so I'm going to see how the UK guys fare.

Maybe it will be a medium format x-pro with ovf ;-)
