  1. Folks might want to make a note of their Q menu settings before upgrading. A lot of stuff gets reset.
  2. Well, it's the 4th February now in Tokyo (about 4am but still...) are we excited yet? I'm guessing that once it's up it'll appear here: http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/software/firmware/x/xe2/index.html (nothing yet! I just checked!)
  3. Yes, the Fuji cameras beg you to pick them up and use them. I'm pretty happy carrying them around anywhere, certainly more places than I was comfortable taking my D600 and 24-120 monster.
  4. I was referring to post #5 in this thread, I should have quoted.
  5. http://ianmacdonaldphotography.com/2016/02/01/fuji-x-pro2-review-part-one-unboxing-and-first-impressions/ In the review above, there is no mention of 33mm frameline previews. I wonder if someone has been doing a bit of cloning...
  6. I suspect this is more likely a controlled leak to ensure maximised sales of the xpro2.
  7. It's a real shame that they didn't add weather resistance to the X-E2s. As it stands, the only WR rangefinder is the X-Pro2, which is a pretty huge leap in price from the non-WR RF bodies, and will tend to slant sales towards the XT-1, regardless of consumer preference in body shape.
  8. Well, even if it is slightly off, you now have a unique lens that will produce shots that nobody else's 23mm f/1.4 will!
  9. I agree, there is something complimentary about the 18mm on the X-Pro1. If I'm travelling super-light I either pick up my X-E2 with the 27mm or the X-Pro1 with the 18mm, but my preference is the X-Pro1 even though the X-E2 is smaller and newer.
  10. The OVF (which is of course optional to use, but something the XT-range can't do) can be very useful under certain circumstances; also having a free eye or less of the camera obscuring your face can help to change the relationship with your subjects. I guess only you can decide if those things sound more important than the overall form factor. Personally I prefer the rangefinder style anyway so it would be a no-brainer to me.
  11. My main takeaway from this is don't lend a camera to Mike K!
  12. It isn't. It only works on the 50-140, 100-400 and 120mm macro.
  13. Obvious questions that still need to be asked... was the lens clean, was there a filter on it?
  14. samyang 8mm fisheye at f22 focusses at the speed of light
  15. Find the two lengths you use from all that lot, get those as primes and flog all those zooms.
  16. Nope, not going to happen. Nikon's full frame f/2 already requires a drop-in filter and weighs a smidge under 3 kilograms. So you'd probably be looking at around 2kg for a Fuji X equivalent, which is twice the weight of the already heavy 50-140mm f/2.8. Also consider, the roadmapped 120mm is 'only' f/2.8, and already pretty long (not sure if we know the weight yet). It seems like there is little overly significant size or weight advantage for mirrorless aps-c in long lenses, all the gains come on the wide end: http://camerasize.com/compact/#469.484,520.422,ha,t
  17. I think it's truer to say that the number of lenses where it would be appropriate is still quite small. The only one I can think of where it would maybe be a nice to have would be the 55-200mm. Nothing else has the requisite length + OIS + low f/stop combination for it to make much sense, and it's pushing it on the f/stop front in the case of the 55-200mm. It feels tailor made for the 50-140mm though.
  18. I think I'd rather have the 56mm now and just wait for the 120mm. It'll have the OIS and a significant extra use as a macro, the extra length will account for the dof (that's assuming you don't want to carry the 50-140mm right now). The lack of OIS on the 90mm is a dealbreaker for me.
  19. That's what we're saying, everyone is agreeing. Fuji pro service does not yet exist, of course it's going to compare unfavourably.
  20. So if we actually treat things equally, then it's fair for me to compare the above story with the weeks of denial about D600 shutter debris followed by ten day turnaround time and no outward postage refund from Nikon service I received as an ordinary consumer, because that's the actual equivalent service to the above.
  21. I thought the PS wasn't launching for a few months yet, and only in Japan to begin with?
