  4. I have the 27mm just in case but I never actually leave the house with it attached. After that would probably be the 18-55mm. Great lens but I have faster primes in every length.
  5. Since this update is for specific lenses on all the x-trans bodies then it's more likely that it's a specific improvement for how those listed lenses operate on x-trans sensors than something that works universally across the Fuji range.
  6. I was wondering if they might add focus bracketing. It doesn't seem like it should require anything in the hardware that isn't already there.
  7. pros will use what they get given. I suspect Fuji is more interested in targeting the wayward/straying Nikon high end enthusiasts than any pros.
  8. I can only say that you have to really have a specific need for the 16-55 - it's not a significant upgrade to the 18-55 for most use cases.
  9. I just looked for the lenses I wanted and the body picked itself. Sensor size is such an arbitrary way to pick a system; it seems like folks settle on FF because that's simply as big as they can afford before medium format sends the price through the roof. Most of the excuses seem based around making up for lack of technique; low light performance (low light photos are hardly ever keepers, use a flash!), subject isolation (learn to compose! Razor thin focus with even the subject dripping in bokeh looks awful!).
  10. My abiding memory of the 16-55 was being continually disappointed that for its bulk and heft it didn't have OIS. There was no real payoff to putting it on vs just having two bodies with an appropriate prime on each. It also has huge levels of barrel distortion at the wide end.

I carry a Samyang 12mm and the Fuji 23mm on two bodies when I want to go light and wide, purely because 23mm is about as wide as I like to go without worrying about distortion and the 12mm is just ridiculously good value considering how few keepers I've personally found from ever going ultra wide. I personally don't see a lot of point in zooms at the wide end; lightweight, fast primes that are sharp enough such that they can easily be cropped are mostly far more useful IMO.
  12. I use a Lowepro Event Messenger 150. It looks a bit like a camera bag but not enough to make you think there's a Leica inside. Just the way I like it. It has foldaway Velcro tabs for optional noise-in-a-crowd based security.
  13. Firstly decide what you want to specialise in, then the lens picks itself. Nobody is great at all kinds of photography. Pick and develop your style.

  15. I guess that really emphasises an important consideration, it really entirely depends on what body, firmware and focus assist modes you use.

  19. But when you're instead just wasting time to recreate the effect that's already there, it invalidates the argument. The whole point of film simulations is to lock down those flexibilities that we enjoy today to a specific set of values that people shooting film had imposed on them in the past, for a specific look. If you need to post process the picture before applying the film simulation then you've completely missed the point IMO, and you're at best shooting 'fakros'.
  20. I believe it's also so that AF can focus past infinity so that it can determine the focus point without the motor continually hitting a hard stop.
