  1. Personally I'd buy a D3200 for that lens, if you're serious about macro. There's no size/weight benefit with fuji when you're lugging a tripod and focussing rail around.
  2. I've only had issue with third party rear caps, for some reason the samyang lenses (which fit the cameras perfectly fine!) come with caps that don't play nice on the fuji lenses. With regards to front caps, there are some generic 39mm caps that are bulkier and thus easier to use than the Fuji versions and many here will recommend switching to those for your 27/60. I've personally not had issue with the other sizes and generally prefer them to the old nikon stuff I used to use. The square push on caps are probably just going to deteriorate over time but on the other hand the metal hoods mean I'm happy to leave them off for longer, normally the whole time I'm shooting.
  3. Well, the frameline doesn't zoom past a certain point that's quite early in the zoom range on my 50-140. I guess they don't do it because the parallax correction would just be too inaccurate.
  4. Doesn't seem to exist as something one can buy in the UK
  5. Wow, I didn't know such a thing existed!
  6. Hot shoes aren't designed for the role that these thumb rests have them fulfil so I doubt if you'll ever see an official fuji thumb rest. I also think a battery grip for a RF style body is unlikely but maybe a third party will make one?
  7. The firmware update to enable it is due on 4th Feb for all cameras, safe to assume that is the street date.
  8. You can choose on the xpro1 by holding the ovf/evf switch for 4 seconds so I doubt they'd remove that feature
  9. Given how amazing the VR is on the 50-140 there would be no quandary for me; it is an absolute no brainer to go with the Fuji.
  10. The Zeiss would be my guess.
  11. It will also work on the new 100-400 and 120 macro. None of this is new information though.
  12. Yep, it appears the differences amount to the 's' in the name and the relabelling of one button.
  13. The new X70. Edit: oops missed the new page sorry.
  14. It probably depends on what you've got auto iso set to.
  15. The double whammy of no mirror to protect the sensor and no adhesive area under the sensor to catch dust during sensor self cleaning mean mirrorless is a bit more exposed to dust sadly.
  16. The 23mm has internal focussing, but it is not WR.
  17. If you're coming to England soon then you're going to need as wide an aperture as you can get, the Sun hasn't been seen for a few weeks now!
  18. My 23mm is second only to my 50-140. RMA.
  19. Just one more thing to note with the humble 18mm, it's currently the only X system lens at gets to 1:1 with the macro tubes: http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/accessories/pdf/mcex_01.pdf I know some people think this is important. Pretty insane working distance but nevertheless... Edit: just noticed the xc 16-50... Not that 2mm is useable.
  20. Maybe a little gorillapod tripod or similar might come in handy? No hardship to carry even if it's not used.
  21. When the reviews say it's sharp 'especially wide open' they just mean it's relatively sharp wide open compared to its peers. The optimum sharpness will be found when stopped down a couple of times. Photozone.de suggests centre sharpness peaks at f/4 and edge sharpness f/5.6
  22. Well iirc light gathering stops at f/1.1 So you're really just buying insane shallow dof at enormous quality cost. The tradeoff of bad performance just never seems worth it for me.
  23. Despite this lens relative performance in the range, just like many derided lenses in the past it's still far better than many of the lenses that the past masters got to use.
