  1. AGREED! That is unless you know the couple and they've ASKED you to do the photography.
  2. Everyone is all excited about the WR of this and other Fuji lens. Quite frankly, I don't know if it is that critical. I've used my 18-55 in rain and sleet; I've had it out in the elements since I purchased in back in February 2013. I just returned from a 10 day trip where I was in Rain, sun, thunder, saltwater and sand. I used the 18-55, 55-200, and the Zeiss12mm. My second most used lens was the 16 1.4 but that is WR. The 18-55 was responsible for over 3,000 images alone and it survived. The "ONLY" thing the WR designation would have done for me is to make me feel more at ease. That's it. You know, back "in the day" we didn't have WR lenses. We used our gear to make images, not to be coddled or displayed on a shelf at home or to post gear selfies online. I lived in Alaska for four years and shot in rain, sleet and snow with all my Minolta gear. Never had a problem. If the lens did not survive so be it; I would not go back to that brand again. Period. My 18-55 was used to shoot for fun a water pistol fight. My grandson literally pointed this water canon at me and sprayed me and the lens with a full load of water. The 18-55 still works. just fine. Though I did see where water seeped in between the lens and the bod flange. I had to physically dry it with a towel. That's all that happened. And I'm talking a water canon that held probably more water than you will see short of a monsoon. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. In a couple of days I'm headed out to shoot up on the Maine coast. Wet, cold, drizzly weather. I'm looking forward to it.
  3. Nope. Already own the 35 1.4 so I don't have a need for the F2 version. J
  4. Fuji won't pursue this avenue. And quite frankly I would concur with them as I would rather have them focus on upgrading and updating their current camera base and lenses. However, you may want to look at "Shuttersnitch" app. It's available for iPhone and iPad. It connects directly to Fuji (and other brands) without the Fuji remote app. I've tried it a couple of times as I just got it and seems to work just fine. If you go to my post here you can read a little bit about it. I purchased it as I no longer want to travel with a laptop. I will be testing the app in the next week or so so please stay tuned.
  5. Yes. He started slowing down after he was appointed an "X" photographer. I hope he is just busy, and nothing else.
  6. After having returned from a 10-day stock shooting trip and using the X-T1 plus a bevy of lenses I can honestly say I don't need any further upgrades. I'm perfectly content with what I have. Now, if Fuji would hurry up and put out a 24 megapixel, X-T1 equivalent I would love that. I'm very, very pleased with my equipment.
  7. I used a chinese made thumb grip when I had my X-E1 and it worked GREAT! I just don't see the point on the X-T1 though.
  8. Well Patrick I have the 35 1.4 since February 2013 when i got my X-E1. I doubt if I would purchase the 35 F2. However, that is exactly what I said about the 16 1.4 and now I not only own it I love it!
  9. I use the extended eye-cup that I purchased on Amazon and no matter what I do to it and/or the camera it stays put. I don't understand why yours would not... Unless it is some cheap knock off? Just asking, not offending. If it is an authentic piece, and you want it to stay put, maybe dab some crazy glue in there? J
  10. You know I hear great things about the 56mm. However, I purchased it several months ago and wound up returning it. It hunted focus way too much for me. was shooting two christenings back to back. It was in a beautifully lit church -- skylights, huge windows, so it was definitely NOT low light at all. It hunted and hunted. I was so frustrated I switched to my 18-55, and my 35 1.4 and finished both christenings with no more issues.
  11. Well that was kinda rude. However, in a way it does make sense; Fuji has awesome glass. But, if you have Contax, Leica, Minolta glass and I'm sure others then I can see trying to find an adapter to use those lenses. I've used my Minolta 16mm 2.8 Fisheye, and my Minolta 58mm 1.2 on my X-E1, and my X-T1. Both work fantastically well. I would go online (say to Amazon) and do a search there. Unless you feel comfortable going back to the store...
  12. I never thought I would say this but the 16mm 1.4 is freakin' incredible! During my recent 10 day road trip it was my second most used lens after my 18-55. After the 16, I would say my 35mm 1.4 -- even though I did not use it at all on my trip. Then third: my Zeiss Touit 12mm f2.8. In my signature you can read the last two or three posts where I detail what lenses I used and what I learned from my 10 day road trip.
  13. Ok. I'm now back from the Florida Keys, and the Dry Tortugas. I was in 92 degree + temperature, hot, blazing sun. Rain storms, lightening, and when it wasn't raining the humidity exceeded the temperature - for 10 full days of which nine were spent in the sand and saltwater. In addition to all that, on several occasions I had to re-arrange an item or two near the waters edge where I was laying prone; My hands were coated in sand, then I grabbed the camera to photograph what I just setup. My only problem? I must have gotten some sand particles under the on/off switch as it became a two-finger crushing operation for a couple of days. Now, it's back to normal. I see nothing on my camera body that would indicate any peeling of rubber, nor bulging doors, etc. I did have the stupid SD car door pop open at the most inopportune time on two occasions. I wonder if this affliction only affects certain serial number? Kinda like the light leak?
  14. Man, I used to have a Celestron 1000mm F8 for my old Minolta. I used to use that for wildlife while living up in Alaska for four years in the late 70's.
  15. Take them BOTH. They each weigh nothing. The 18-55 I find it to be an EXTREMELY versatile lens with a wide to medium portrait tele. The fast 23 on the X100 would be great for when you hit the town in the evening and want to photograph at dinner, or in low-light situations such as churches, etc. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
  16. Goodness Gracious! Did you BOIL the camera in hot water? Wow. I've never heard of that happening.
  17. Great images. Shooting at Owls Head you were 3 miles from my home!
  18. I looked at both the 50-140 and the 55-200. Sharpness was the same to my old eyes. What wasn't the same was the size and weight. I went with the 55-200... No regrets whatsoever!!!
  19. When does the X-T2 come? Hopefully before my August 2016 stock and travel trip to Alaska. Please Fuji. Please. 24MP, dual card slots, and 5+ shot bracket. I'd be as happy as a pig in sh*t
  20. I'm sorry but I must disagree. I am still using LR 5.6 and even though I have LR CC I don't use it yet. As a landscape/travel/stock photographer I found the sharpening/processing method used by Peter Bridgwood so good I created an import preset where this is applied to ALL my images. Once I've imported the images I'll go in and make minor tweaks here and there but I've found his sharpening to be dead-on for the X Files. Here is the link to his blog. Give it a try if you haven't done so yet. And no, I haven't looked at your particular samples.
  21. Even though I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 18-55 and 55-200 zoom - tack sharp, clarity is amazing, I've been using the 35 1.4 since 2013 and that lens, to me, is a MUST. The other two for me, that I use, are the 23mm and the 16mm. The 56mm I purchased and returned as it hunted in good light way too much for my taste.
  22. ISn't te C of C lens specific? No? I would LOVE to know that. I tried using DOFMaster on my iPhone but don't trust it. If the CofC is 5 for Fuji, then I can plug that in.
  23. You are a brave soul. I have not upgraded to El Capitan yet and I think I'll hold off just a bit until all the pioneers (such as yourself) have taken all the arrows and I can just waltz in behind you! Thank you for the update. J
