Is there another forum of similar name?
lleo replied to Bitingly Sharp733's topic in General Discussion
I don't know which of the two came for first, but it's silly to see possible forces scattered around. Und ja, the forums should be reunited in just one. But I know how these things go, I had my own experiences with forums. Grüß -
What is your X-E3 wish list?
lleo replied to bhu's topic in Fuji X-E4 / Fuji X-E3 / Fuji X-E1 / Fuji X-E2 / Fuji X-E2s
I have never cared about new models, what they will feature, when they'll be on the market, and so on. I mean, photography is about photos, not what a camera is going to have. But one thing really pisses me off and I'd love to have it changes on every camera since now on: the two buttons AF-L and AE-L. I don't know who designed their position, but it's less than ridiculous. I don't have to be forced to buy the thumbrest, nor I'll do it, to avoid pressing the buttons while holding the camera. That is really a joke. -
Last one is the best. And yes, take that dog off the damn chain. BTW, that's a great lens. I have some pics but I'm actually taking more. We'll see if I can post some.

Hallo Alex, until now I've only shot birds once. I've tried all the options, single point, zone and wide. I'm only work in manual, no programs. To me the cameras could easily have no programs nor priorities at all. Anyways I found that single and zone were the better, though sometimes you have to half press the shutter button more than once to get the target focuses. They were moving quickly so I've tried to pan also. You need to make some tries and see what works better for you.

I own the 18-55 and the 55-200, it's the perfect kit. They're complementary. I don't know why Fuji guys produced lenses that get over each other, 55-200, 50-140 and 100-400. In my case one lens starts where the other ends. Getting the 50-140 it would be completely unuseful. The 100-400... yes I'd have other 200mm to use, expecially today that I went shooting seagulls. Fortunately I was quite close, but other 100mm at least would have been useful. The problem is I don't need the first 100mm. True that's 2,8, but to me it doesn't worth the huge extra cash. I'll probably complete my set with a Samyang 12mm and maybe, in the future, I'll get a 8mm fisheye but only as last lens since it's particular and not for daily use. In the meantime I'm enjoying a bunch of manual lenses.

Hi Gat. I had several Helios and all were really good. Actually I have a 44-2 and a 44M-4, and they're almost identical. Both have the swirl, the 44M-4 is a little lighter, speaking of light representation. I love them both and I loved the ones I had. The problem is to find a model that doesn't have problems on the lens. It's not a big problem for me because I also deal with lenses, cleaning, repairing and so on, but many ones have major problems on the lenses since they usually are stored like stones, each against the other in drawers. So the most of them have scratches on both lenses, cleaning marks, and so on. The tiny marks are not a problem since they don't affect the photo at all. Also the oil on the blades is not a problem because it can get cleaned. It depends on what you want. The 44-2 has the preset diaphragm while the 44M-4 is more modern and has the usual diaphragm. I don't have any issue with the preset, but it depends on people. The bigger problem that might happen for the ones not used to a preset diaphragm, is forgetting to close the blades before to shoot when shooting with a close diaphragm. I'll post some samples as I have a little time, I hope within the weekend.

Nice shots and beautiful kids, Cynthia. You know, when you get a "stock" lens, one of those offered in kit with the camera, and a "pro" one you'll understand the difference istantly as well as why the pro lenses cost a fortune. Many years ago I've tried a Nikon 28-80 f/3,5-4,5 or 5,6, then I've bought a 35-70 F2,8 and it was like day and night. Just looking at the pics, the ones taken with the kit lens looked like toys. It's not the case of Fuji, obviously, due the high quality of the kit lenses. The only questions you have to ask yourself are: how much the differences between the two lenses might affect my work? And are they so big to justify the extra money? do I need a weather sealing lens? how much I can or I wish to pay a lens? Once you have answered this questions, you'll have the clue. Actually I own the 18-55 and the 55-200 and they're really great, great lenses. I shoot mainly with a old Leica so I didn't want to get several prime lenses and I opted for these two zooms. In the early I also thought about the 16-55, the 50-140, but in the end the two I have are perfect for my needings. Also, the other two are... well I don't know why Fuji made lenses that overlay each other. Fortunately they didn't do it with the two zooms I have.

X-E2 or X-Pro1?
lleo replied to Marcin Petruszka's topic in Fuji X-E4 / Fuji X-E3 / Fuji X-E1 / Fuji X-E2 / Fuji X-E2s
Milandro, the digital cameras are more on the computer side than on real camera side. This means there's a continous updating and the price will decrease much faster then the price of normal cameras used to do. Johan, the X-Pro1 represented the top of the line, if we can say "professional" together the X-T1 while the X-E1, and 2, feature the lower line. But, being the E2 newer than the Pro1, it's obviously superior. The Pro1 could be compared to the E1 as the Pro2 can be compared to the E2, with the Pro being the top of Fuji line. On the contrary, they wouldn't cost quite more than the E models. -
X-E2 or X-Pro1?
lleo replied to Marcin Petruszka's topic in Fuji X-E4 / Fuji X-E3 / Fuji X-E1 / Fuji X-E2 / Fuji X-E2s
The Pro1 was superior to the X-E1, a upper line. Also to X-E2. And I also was thinking to get it, but in the end I've got the X-E2: new sensor, new processor, so better than old Pro1. I'll probably get the Pro2 in the future, but only in a year or two when the price will have sensibly lowered. -
Beautiful place and beautiful people.

Well I agree with you Milandro. Why a backpack? I used to shoot naturalistic stuff once, and I had to carry around my double outfit, 35mm and medium format. I have to say in the end I was broken in two pieces. It was damn heavy to carry, so I changed in different bags, the one I still have, and other to carry on my belt. In this way I disposed the weight around the whole torso and it was much more confortable. Of course when shooting naturalistic or wildlife you need something heavier than when in the city. Except that in case you're taking a rest having a coffee with your photo stuff on the table, and it falls down. Then you'll be praying your bag IS sturdy. Lol

I agree with the quote above at 50%. It's the holy truth tastes are personal, no doubt about it. But at the same time there are non questionable features. I mean, if something is sturdy, it is sturdy. It cannot be sturdy for me and non sturdy for somebody else. Same thing for the other features. However, I can prefer a certain style, colour, shape and so on, while somebody else will do according to his own tastes. So I don't think it's a love-hate matter. There are things nobody can tell "for me it's in this way". Isn't it?

Right now I have a Lowepro Orion AW beltpack. This one (not mine, just for show): Lowepro is absolutely top quality, sturdy, waterproof. I had a big backpack I used to carry both my 35 and medium format camera. It was beyond top quality: I could stand over it, charged with all my outfit, without causing even a scratch on one piece. I also have some top load zoom I used for big Nikon lens like 200 and 300. The next one for my X-E2 will be another Lowepro, the Pro Runner. A bag must be sturdy, waterproof and, most important, for a quick use. So one of the best characteristics of the bag above and the Runner too is the missing of the lip on the cover. It seems something silly but it's very important to me. You can open the bag quickly and can get what you need without having to fight with the cover going anywhere. When taking pictures you cannot being thinking to deal with the bag, you might have a really short time to shoot. So this solution I consider to be the best, until somebody else will come out with something better.

Yes Addicted, I have the latest firmware, the 4.0. I've tried again to convert using basing options but I always have the same message, unexpected end of file. Then it says core dump created. I'll try to see what's going on. Actually I used some Takumar lenses with an adapter but it shouldn't be the problem. This is also the reason, beside the quality and "real" photography, why I carry one using "analog". Digital is consumerism at its max.

I downloaded the version on the page you linked above. It should be the last version. I checked in the software center and it also contains all the other packages like fujigreen, fujiturn and so on. Maybe I'd have to write the guy who made it to ask for clue.
-
Ok back. It seems there's a problem. I copied the instructions above but when I tried to convert the file in the console I had a message saying "unexpected end of file".
-
I forgot one thing: is it possible for the files only being 33,4MB each? It seems too little to me
-
Ach... thanx alot Addicted. I also tried the Fastpicture codecs, Bulldog, but it crashed everytime I've tried to install it. It must be that windows crap I hate. And yes, I have dcraw. I'll try the procedure above. Thanks again.

Hi all. I have problems opening the RAF files of my X-E2. I work on Ubuntu and since I have an old pc I cannot install the last RawTherapee version which reads these files. So I've tried to download the RAW convertion program from Fuji website. I found the version for XP, I have XP, and installed. I was thinking about opening the RAF and saving it as TIFF to work it in RT, but when I try to open it I get a error message saying that file format is not supported. Any clue? Thank you.

X-E3 Concept
lleo replied to Jano's topic in Fuji X-E4 / Fuji X-E3 / Fuji X-E1 / Fuji X-E2 / Fuji X-E2s
The only thing I don't like about the X-E2 is the buttons AF-L and AE-L just below the EV selector. They're located really bad since when holding the camera I usually put my thumb over it. There shouldn't be anything in that place on any camera. -
Camera doesn't shoot
lleo replied to lleo's topic in Fuji X-E4 / Fuji X-E3 / Fuji X-E1 / Fuji X-E2 / Fuji X-E2s
Yep, I've tried this morning with all my Leica and Takumar lenses, really great. And yes, I know about the adapter setting options I change it every time I use a different lens. One thing I haven't found here: can the camera being recognized by the computer as mass storage? I use Ubuntu and taking the card out every time is quite boring. I've tried to connect it via usb but nothing happened. With my Sony RX I always used to connect it via usb and download the pictures on the computer. -
Camera doesn't shoot
lleo replied to lleo's topic in Fuji X-E4 / Fuji X-E3 / Fuji X-E1 / Fuji X-E2 / Fuji X-E2s
Hi Mike. Yes, just this morning. It got on my mind last night, so this morning I activated that option and it works. But, having said this, will it recognize the lens even if it's used a 3rd party adapter? I mean, focal lenght I chose? -
I hope it's not a problem with me new X-E2. I've bought it since a couple weeks but I haven't used it yet because I'm waiting for the lens (I've only got the camera body). I've ordered two adapters, one for M39 lenses, the other for the M42. Today I was trying a Leica screw mount with the adapter but I had this strange stuff: camera doesn't shoot. I've set it up in manual, adjusted the type of lens in the adapter menu of the camera, but when I press the button nothing happens. On the screen doesn't appear any speed nor aperture. I've checked on the manual but it only says about hypothetical problems with the card, or batteries not charged, and so on. My case is not contemplated. Any hint on what might be? I haven't tried the M42 adapter (both this and the M39 aren't original Fuji) to see if works. Thanks for any help.

I've just got my X-E2 this morning. And the v.4 was out today. I wanted to get the X-Pro1 but the X-E2 is newer and, in the future, I'll take it back to get the Pro2. anyways it had the v.1 firmware, I went for the 3.5 then for the v.4. Fabulous: the bigger update for me is the internal intervalometer. So now I won't have to buy an external one. I'll keep waiting for my zoom lens before to give it a try.
