  1. Yes Isaac I know. I used gradient several times to modify images, never pictures I took though.
  2. Yes, gradient is like using a graduated filter on the lens
  3. Ja. You have no idea how often I write a certain word while thinking to another one.
  4. Yep. I'm gettin old and cranky, beside senile and dyslexic
  5. Ok. Did you ever try any confrontation? I mean shooting in colour and transforming the image in b&w on the computer. You get quite different results.
  6. Is it out of the camera or processed on computer?
  7. The last one could easily being used as a Christmas card.
  8. It's a silly question. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you're silly. Others' opinion is good, but in the end you have to decide by yourself. I guess you have tried all those lenses and, as you wrote, Pentax should be your favourite. Well kee it and sell the other if you don't mind. Actually I'm a little fond for Takumar lenses because they have a particular light. Like every other lens, obviously. But I find it particular, so I usually keep and use those lenses, more than all the other lenses I own.
  9. Nice. I once owned a AF 24mm that was super
  10. Sehr schön
  11. If your priorities are the camera capabilities, go for the X-E2. But they're complete different cameras in terms of photos. Check the comparison on Fuji vs Fuji. It's not that one is better than the other, it's a matter of personal tastes.
  12. Yep, you better look around the net. Takumars are strange: sometimes they come up for few bucks, other times are quite expensive. Though some of them, like the 85mm, are always expensive. You might go for the 28mm, much cheaper than 24, but you'll have a 42mm equivalent
  13. Before to get my XE-2 I was thinking abour the II series of the Alpha. Then I saw several test and I went for Fuji. Though I had a RX100 and it was a great compact.
  14. Super Takumar 24mm f/3.5 M42
  15. No witches around
  16. Great buy, Wujetz. Comparing old and new lens is a nonsense. If somebody wants to go for an old lens, it's because a certain reason. It's useless to compare an old lens to a new one. And yes, when you comes to price differences, you better think about the reason you're looking that particular lens. It's certainly not because you need it. About prices in Europe, yep I've noticed in Netherland they're much more expensive than other places. I've got my Spotmatic some years ago from Belgium and it was a nice deal. Last but not least, the problems that can afflict old lenses, sticky blades, dusts, and so on, can be solved by a good artisan. I do that, lately I fixed a couple Meyer-Optik. The only problem is that the cost for fixing a lens often is higher than the lens value itself.
  17. Interesting stuff, even if I never tried. I just use my screwmount Leitz lenses connected to the camera via a m39 adapter.
  18. Hello Steve. What system do you use? Linux? Windows? I have the same camera updated to the latest software version but, like the fellows above, I always take the card out and plug it directly in the computer without going through usb cable. Maybe there's a problem between the software on the computer and the camera.
  19. Scotland must be one of the most beautiful places, though. As well as Ireland and Wales.
  20. Beside Super-Takumars, I'd go for the Tamron 90 SP. It's a super lens, even better than Nikkor 60. Not the last black model, the one before, grey. It's absolutely fantastic.
  21. I stand wwith Enzio and Dark. I own a Super Takumar 50 macro, super lens. The early version, not the super multi coated. Takumars have a particular atmosphere, They're beutiful to me, but it depends on your personal tastes. Being manual lenses quite cheap, I suggest you to get several, than chose which one/ones to keep.
  22. Here is a set of pictures taken with my 44M-4 for demonstration purposes. All at f.2 to show the swirl. I don't remember if somebody asked in the past, however it depends on the distances between the shooter, the subject and the background. Though the most various is the background, the higher is the swirl effect. The pictures have not been touched in any way on computer, just two or three converted in b&w with no modifications. https://www.flickr.com/photos/144829918@N02/albums/72157675138990611
  23. Mark, some Helios lens might have the infinity focusing problem. I suggest you to get the K&F adapter since there's a ring inside you can remove if your lens doesn't focus to infinity. Though I've had several Helioses, M42, 44M-4 and so on, and I found the infinity focusing problem only with one.
