  1. I am facing a dilemma. The cost/specs of the new iMacs infuriates me. For the cost of a base 27 inch iMac, I could build a PC with superior processing power, a better video card, and Terabytes of SSD storage. Plus, I am sick of editing photos on the iMac's glossy screen. The only thing holding me back is Windows. In 2010 I switched to Apple because I was sick of dealing with PC/Windows issues. Can anybody using a PC let me know if Windows really has improved and become reliable in the last 7 years? Thank you.
  2. I love vintage Zeiss glass for portraits. The 50mm Planar f/1.4 MMJ has incredible rendering. The color and dynamic range I achieve with it is wonderful. I also recommend the 50mm Zeiss Jena Tessar f/2.8 with 14 aperture blades. It creates beautiful soap bubble bokeh (as long as you like that kind of bokeh).
  3. I was waiting for a longer macro until I discovered that one can obtain vastly superior vintage Zeiss 1:1 macro lenses for half the cost of today's lenses. No autofocus, but I have always focused manually when doing macro work anyway.
  4. No complaints on Fuji bodies here. Sold all my Canon gear years ago for an X-T1 and wish I had done so sooner. There is no perfect camera, but for an old schooler like me, Fuji is as close as it gets.
  5. Thank you everyone for the great recommendations. Keeping my eyes open on Ebay for some of them now.
  6. I cannot afford to spend $500, $1000 or more for a nice macro lens, so I found an old Canon FD 200mm F4 Macro lens on Ebay for $300. It is an awesome macro, but I need another old macro lens that is more in the 50-100mm range. With the 200mm, I end up having to back a little too far away from the subject at times. Constantly getting up and walking over to reposition the subject is annoying. Any recommendations for some incredibly awesome vintage macro glass?
