  1. Ha! You got me. I guess if you were a spy, you would be be using the VF more than I! For most of us with ordinary lives however, you can see how having the menu on the LCD makes sense. Thanks for letting me vent.
  2. After using the X100T for a few more months I have to agree with Paul. This is a very annoying quirk that Fuji should seriously consider fixing. It's not a deal breaker for me, but it's still a major inconvenience.
  3. I'd like the menu on the X100T to appear on the rear screen and not the viewfinder even if I have it in "viewfinder only" mode to save battery life. Who looks at the menu through the EVF?! That's stupid. When I chimp, the picture is shown on the LCD - why not the menu and the Q settings? Not a deal breaker, but annoying since it should be a simple fix.
  4. Good point, but defeats the purpose of traveling light because my iphone is perfectly suitable as a backup in a pinch. Instead of a second camera, I'd rather have a small flash (EF-X20) and my X100T. I use to carry my XT-1 with 2-3 lenses on trips, but since owning the X100T, I can't imagine traveling with anything else. Having a small hot-shoe flash has been invaluable as well. The size and features of the X100T with the EF-X20 in the Ona leather Bowery make them a perfect travel combo.
  5. From the 5th floor bay window of the Fairmont Empress Hotel, Victoria B.C. X100T 23mm, 1/80, ISO 400
  6. Yeah, no.... I try to lessen the blow on the wallet by buying inexpensive vintage lenses instead. Seems to be working. For now. Until 23/f2 comes out....
  7. Those are very powerful pictures. You can really feel the tension and see the drama. I don't think I'd have the courage to be there running around with a camera in my hands though.... Did you have any close calls? Police mistaking your gear for a weapon?
  8. My Oreo, taken with XT-1 and 35/2.
  9. Wow. Beautiful. For all the spec talks and comparisons, there is only one reason I shoot with Fuji: COLORS! Very well done. Thank you for sharing.
  10. Has anyone tried this? Doesn't look to be the most stable, but looks small, light and cheap.
  11. TP leather half case, Gordy strap, Lensmate thumb grip and soft shutter with Fuji hood.
  12. I own nFD 50/1.8 and 28/2.8 and use them with with this adapter: I haven't tried any of the more expensive adapters so I can't make a direct comparison, but the quality and fit is just as good as, if not better than, the Fotodiox and Fotasy adpapters I own for my m42 and om lenses.
  13. This seems like a made-up charge to me. Grey market lenses are identical to US copies - they were just made for a different market. If you are rough with your equipment then you'd want to get a US version to get faster customer service, but if you're careful like me, take the 25% savings and buy grey.
  14. I've never had quality issues with grey market items. I've bought 3 Fuji lenses on eBay from sellers in Hong Kong so far with great results. What's funny is packages from Canada seem to take a lot longer to get to me than stuff from China or Japan.
  15. This is a very good point. I've replaced my canvas bags for their leather counterparts. I couldn't keep them clean.
  16. The interior dimension of a street prince bag is 12L x 9H x 4D. Measure your gear the way you want it to sit in the bag and you should have a definitive answer.
  17. I haven't seen anything as noticeable or uneven as you've described. Mine is generally soft wide open but quite sharp after F2.8.
  18. If you plan to buy an XT2, then hold off buying X100T until a new version comes out. I have an XT1 and used to have an X100S, but found that the layout and feel of the buttons were different enough where switching between the 2 cameras didn't feel instinctive and natural. Plus the X100S didn't have wifi and chrome. So I decided to get an X100T instead and found the XT1 and the X100T matched pretty well and I can have both cameras on me and switch back and forth between the 2 without having to think too much - one seems to continue where the other left off. I hope I'm conveying this clearly enough.
  19. Berlin II is definitely not too big as a street bag. I have a canvas Bowery as well and depending the type of gear you have, either will suit your needs. As far as the leather vs canvas comparison, there is no practical difference, only aesthetic. Leather to me looks more luxurious and feels better against my body.
  20. My choice would be 100-400 for its reach and weather resistance. You may not be able to get that close to whales and you definitely don't want to get too close to bears and moose.
  21. Paul, Your point is valid, but also very unique and specific. I haven't heard of anyone making an issue of it to your extant, but if having idiosyncrasies was a deal breaker, none of us would be using a Fuji, am I right? Anyway, having used both X100S and T, I think the T is a better overall camera. Everything is a little faster and the dial pad and buttons are more more like that of the XT-1. Just my 2 cents. P.S. The wifi function is a very useful feature for me too.
  22. The only way to do it is on a Canon body as jp_stone said since modern Canon lenses do not have manual aperture rings. I've found older, vintage lenses from Pentax, Olympus, etc make better choices since they all have manual controls to change aperture. Much cheaper too.
  23. Just to expand a little more on question #1: The only function you lose when you use "other lenses" is the ability to autofocus. Your sensor will still "see" through the lens and give you all the information for focusing, exposure, etc. You will want to gets lenses that have aperture control on them, otherwise you will not be able to change aperatures once it's on your Fuji camera. I have new Rokinons and old Olympus and Helios lenses that I use with cheap adapters and I think I have more fun with them than with the more expensive Fuji lenses even though I have to manually focus. Hope this helps and have fun!
