  1. I don't want to make this into a useless fight but I have tried to do some experiments with and without tripod, with and without OIS and couldn't not get reproducible results that confirmed any theory. Sometimes OIS improved pictures taken on a tripod, sometimes it made them much worse but I couldn't find a rule where I could predict if OIS on or off will be better in a situation. What you are saying sounds reasonable and I use the OIS in pretty much the same way but from an engineering point of view we are just making guesses.
  2. In the end it's guesswork in my opinion. I have started turning it off at 1/500 or 1/1000 since theoretically you should be able to handhold at that speed. I have done some experiments with a tripod which were pretty inconclusive. Sometimes the OIS makes tripod pictures worse, sometimes it seems better.
  3. The problem is that the user can't really make informed decisions based on the available information. It's also hard to perform tests to figure things out.
  4. Not sure but is this with electronic shutter?
  5. Nice to see these. I had my first outing last weekend and I got a few pretty good ones with the same combination but a lot of practice is needed to learn the camera and the lens.
  6. I have a $10 70mm plate from amazon. Screwed it on tightly and works great. I will probably never take it off.
  7. Wow. Never seen such a thing. I would try a total reset or sending it back. The pattern is not even random which makes it even stranger..
  8. To a certain you can do this with the X-T1 if you put into into "M" focus mode. Then the AF-L button engages the focus. In "C" and "S" focus mode only the shutter button works. this is my favorite complaint abut the X-T1
  9. When you shoot burst in CH mode the viewfinder is almost unusable. You pretty much have to guess where your subject is.
  10. Are you in bulb mode?
  11. I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TDYU1U?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage. Works really well for long exposures. You can use it wired or wireless.
  12. I have a Gorillapod and never got along with it. Not enough height. I would probably get a small regular tripod.
  13. Nice! I really have to start paying with Sugru. Just did some 3D printing which is cool and Sugru looks like another way to quickly produce parts.
  14. My theory is still that there was a misunderstanding and that they are doing a X200 camera with an 2 F2 lens. Not a 200mm/f2
  15. Really? From 1/200 on most of the time I get a dark band on bottom of the frame.
  16. Do they still have the older firmware versions available for download? You could go back to an older one and see if things are working. That way you'll know if it's a hardware issue or the firmware.
  17. Is that the rumored 200 F2? Makes much more sense than $6000 lens.
  18. Most of the time EVF only. Sometimes eye sensor. I wish I could disable the other modes.

  22. It would be hard to understand if Fuji made something like this. But it's fun thinking about especially if they brought the price down to 2000 :-).
  23. That would be a crazy lens. the only reference to a 300f2 is this: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/telephotos/300mmedif20/ 7kg :-).
  24. I have tons of pictures from India where I have no clue (maybe a rough idea) where they were taken. It's hard to know where you are when the bus stops stops in the middle of a 13 hour ride. Or you are on the Mekong for 3 days...
  25. Nikon and Canon lenses with that spec are around 6K. I'd assume Fuji would probably be in the same range. With TCs this would be a cool lens though (Am I getting the f-stops right?): 200 f2 prime 280 f2.8 prime 400 f4 prime the Nikon lens weighs 6.5 pounds :-). I wonder if they could make an APS-C lens smaller.
