  1. Try to clean the lens contacts is a good one. And I have great experience with Fuji customer service, they're pretty quick and they might repair this for free if the lens isn't too old and it's not your own fault.
  2. But it's not clear to me if the pictures were bad or not? And it shouldn't clunk (as much) with the power switched on indeed. The 14-150 has this clunk as well.
  3. Isn't that just because of the stabilisation or is it really broken?
  4. The Samyang 12mm is definitely worth the money if you don't need AF. Is sharp, small and light. I'm really happy with it. I also see you want to shoot quite some video (even paid gigs)... I don't know if you shot video before on your Fuji but it's really not that good. It's fine for some fun shots in between but I'd suggest something else for video. For photography, great choice.
  5. Yea the word around is that the f/1.4 is optically better and has a larger aperture. The other points are won by the f/2.0 (price, size, weight, AF speed).
  6. I am guessing you're shooting in raw? The 35mm f/2.0 is digitally corrected so you'll get some distortion/sharpness falloff in raw files. the f/1.4 is optically corrected so less distortion in raws.
  7. The 1.4 is definitely not a bad choice, it's a great choice. But the f/2.0 gets so much praise because it has almost the same image quality, is smaller, faster and weather resistant. The f/1.4 is faster though (faster in aperture) and the image quality is beautiful. Since you already have a WR kit (with the 16-55) you could decide it's not that important and go for the extra stop. The only really pocketable lens is the 27mm f/2.8 though, but that's not as fast.
  8. Another two cents. I have both and would recommend both. But for general purpose 35mm might be a bit tight. Especially if you also like to shoot street or landscapes.
  9. Of course all fast primes are cool, telephoto, wide angle, "normal" focal lengths. Although i'm not that interested, they would be niche products, heavy and really expensive. I prefer high quality light primes as fast as possible within their limitations.
  10. You're right, almost forgot about that one. Might check if I can find a used copy.
  11. Allround: 12 f/2.0, 35mm f/1.4, 90mm f/2.0 Light: 12 f/2.0, 27mm f2.8, unfortunately there's no lightweight in the long range
  12. One stop could be the difference between a good picture and only a decent picture. It's not very much but the difference between iso 3200 and 6400 (1 stop) is definitely noticeable. But take in mind the 35mm f/2 focusses faster (in low light) which also makes a difference. So if you're shooting fast moving subjects the f/2 might be better. A smaller difference is the character of the lens, I really like the 35mm f1.4 rendering and bokeh.
  13. Don't have (found) a comparison but maybe these articles might help: 18-55 vs 35mm 1.4 35mm 1.4 vs 35mm 2.0 I think it depends on what you're looking for... both perform very well but the 35mm f2.0 will be a bit better. Also thought of the original 35mm?
  14. Yea the 18 is a beautiful lens with aperture ring and it's own character as well (definately not sharper) but pretty different in my opnion. Just cropping doesn't cut it for me on a 16mp sensor. See here 18mm fov and 27mm fov. Each his own preference.
  15. Different experiences with the same customs I can imagine they don't check everything coming through. I guess you haven't been lucky At the time I calculated if extra expenses would make the lens more expensive than a secondhand one and they didn't. Could have changed now. Anyway, both prices are definitely worth the lens.
  16. Yes, that's a bet you have to take. I live in The Netherlands... no VAT or extra charges charged. I don't know about guarantee but since secondhand lenses are more expensive here that $210,- I took the chance. Fuji fixed my 18-55 without asking for receipts by the way but I don't know if that's usual.
  17. More than enough on eBay Starting from $209,- and free international shipping.
  18. Wow, great atmosphere Patrick!
  19. Congrats, great lens! Also bought this one on eBay, they're sold a lot in kits (+ the 18mm) so there are plenty on the secondhand market.

  22. I think it's the lens as others pointed out. Most vintage lenses just aren't very sharp wide open. Did you already try shooting at high shutter speeds (>1/250) and from a tripod?
  23. Enjoy! And like johant said, there are very cheap generic 39mm caps on eBay!
  24. There are no alternatives If you think those lenses hold your photography possibilities back you should buy a Sony. That said, besides the 18mm which is mediocre, most of the internet disagrees with you on the 23 and 27mm.
