  1. I have started to collect vintage glass and have spent far too much but love the look and output of these lovely old lenses, plus much cheaper than using the new Fuji lens. My collection: Canon FD 50mm f1.8 Asahi Super Takumar 50mm f1.8 Jupiter 9 85mm f2 Carl Zeiss Jena MC 135mm f3.5 Vivitar Close Focusing Zoom 70-150mm f3.8 Minolata Rokkor 200mm f3.5
  2. Thanks for the reply. I think 1 found 2 issues, 1. The FD mount defaulted to fully open position, I did not realise the outer ring on the adapter should be set to lock. This allows the aperture to be set. 2. On the tripod the sharpness was better. Hand held shots suffered from some camera shake. I have turned off focus peaking, however I still believe I am not getting the full sharpness of the Canon FD 50mm lens and would be grateful for any further suggestions on how to improve the images, esp when hand held. TIA.
  3. I am using a X-E1 camera with a vintage Canon FD 50mm F1.8 lens. When I take an image the result is always soft, even though the viewfinder or screen show a very sharp image, however as soon as I press the shutter pre-view the image is soft, and when I take the photograph, the result is soft - like it is very slightly out of focus. I have used this with focus peaking and everything looks sharp. Am I correct in assuming that images seen on the screen when focusing is via the lens? is it the lens? or my setting or my manual focusing ability. some help will be useful, TIA.
  4. Hi I have just bought a second but near mint x-e1 which I have paired with vintage lens. I am using a canon fd 50mm, and a Takumar 55mm and have found the images to be soft. I have also used a 35mm Fujian and the images are sharper. I think I am using the camera wrong. I have updated to the latest firmware and can see the focus peaking. In the evf the image is sharp but when I half press the shutter release the image seems to get softer and I refocus, I also use the ring button to magnify the subject and refocus but I am getting soft images. Is this the property of the lens I have? or the as I suspect the way I am using the x-system. Your guidance would be much appreciated. Many thanks.
