  1. The OIS is only usable for handheld shots, you don't need it for tripod shots. The 10-24 is allright for astrophotography but has a bit of coma (stretched stars at the edge of frame) and the f/4.0 doesn't really help. If you want a great astrophotography lens for a low price try the Samyang 12mm f/2.0 (also known as Rokinon or Walimex) which has almost no coma, chromatic aberration and a brighter aperture.
  2. If anybody feels like sending me a lens I'd be happy to do so
  3. Unfortunately some amazing lenses are small, like the 27mm, or very big, like the 90mm and 50-140mmm. Of course a smaller lens is easier to carry but usually it's a trade off between qualities.
  4. Yes of course but I don't know how to set up tests or think of all the different circumstances to test it in. So I'd probably buy the lens, be super happy and enthusiastic, write a 5 star review. But then I don't know if I encounter some problems in the future. Already saw pretty much green chromatic aberration and halo when shot wide open. Don't know if that's bad usage (the halo) or a problem in some occasions. I like to decide on a mix of reviews, my own impressions and other user impressions.

  6. Spending some time shooting with the gear you have is never a bad idea ;-)
  7. Do you have an example with and without hood of the same scene? It's highly unlikely it's the hood, or as said by Tom H. the hood isn't attached correctly.
  8. I wouldn't be worried about quality but when shooting animals in the wild the extra reach is often much needed. The X-T2 + 100-400 also is a nice weather and dust sealed combo with great IS.
  9. Do you really need f/2.8?? Get closer and use f/5.6
  10. Why? That's no guarantee for better bokeh. In my personal and most reviewers opinion the 1.4 still has better bokeh. Plus the difference is a stop... iso 1600 vs 3200 or for example a shutter speed of 1/60 instead of 1/30. That can make a difference. I don't say one of them is bad but I think it strange to say it makes no difference. Edit: I've had both.
  11. nonsense, you can say the same about the new smaller 23, 35 and 50mm f/2.0 WR lenses. Although I must say I hope they continue to develop stellar no compromise aps-c lenses which was why they got big(ger) in the first place
  12. I'm curious as well, dit it feel responsive? How's the viewfinder? Looks like the size or a Canon 5D or something...
  13. If you don't see a problem there's no problem
  14. I agree with you Milandro, there's a difference between what people want and actually do with it. I can imagine you can have this problem when shooting casual evening shots or street photography or any other uncontrolled low light situation. But they fixed this "problem" in the x-trans 3 anyway, so no problems in the future.
  15. Another point of consideration, the 14mm is 230 grams and the 10-24 410, that's almost twice as heavy. Some people don't mind, personally I love walking around with a high quality and light combination. I'd sell the 23mm anyway since you almost don't use it.
  16. Haha yes for me it's purely academic as well. I can't imagine loads of people buying these. On the other hand, every year there are more millionaires Of course Fuji is great if you compare it to old technology but there were some problems with waxy skin on x-trans 2 sensors. X-Trans 1 & 3 don't have this issue though.
  17. I really don't think it's that ugly, I even kind of like it. Definitely better than the hasselblad and easier o use with these dials...
  18. Just use the 18-55 or 10-24 OIS. A 16-55 f/2.8 will still take a long time, if they're planning on releasing it at all.
  19. If you're more into real estate and landscape I'd choose the 23mm, sharp and nice angle for that kind of shooting. If you're more into portraits I'd choose the 35mm f/1.4 which has amazing rendering and bokeh for people.
