Possible problem with 16-80 f4. Can any owners help?
Greybeard replied to BobJ's topic in Fuji X Lenses
I'm surprised as well - I have that lens currently on the X-H2S and there is no obvious play. -
My version of perfect Fujifilm X camera :]
Greybeard replied to syborg's topic in General Discussion
Having switched to the X-S10/X-H2S combination the one thing I miss from the X-T3 is the tiltable rear screen - the only time I find any need to move the screen is for taking shots with the camera held down low or up high and that flippy screen just doesn't work well. -
Scathing Review of Fuji X-H2s
Greybeard replied to Golden Oxen's topic in Fuji X-H1 / Fuji X-H2s / Fuji X-H2
Yes - I didn't mention build quality - I don't have an X-H1 to compare but I certainly have no complaints about the X-H2S. Its rock solid and all buttons and dials work exactly as they should - no unnecessary play. It gives every impression it will continue working for years. I haven't yet had need to test the weather sealing but everything fits well together - and in fact the removal of the AF mode switch and dial press switches are only going to improve the overall weather resistance. As for murkiness - I just haven't seen it - perhaps someone will post some examples so I know what to look out for (and situations where the murkiness will appear) -
Scathing Review of Fuji X-H2s
Greybeard replied to Golden Oxen's topic in Fuji X-H1 / Fuji X-H2s / Fuji X-H2
The problem I have with the review is that it doesn't address what I think is the main advantage of the camera for stills photographers i.e. speed and improved autofocus. He says that face/eye detection has not improved over the X-T4 but does not address subject tracking (beyond the comment that animals should not have been divided into birds and others which I agree with). If you don't test the camera for its abilities to shoot wildlife and sports its difficult to come up with any conclusions about its value. Much of the review was centered around what I think are relatively trivial criticisms - like the lack of focus mode switch, dial click switches and the lack of a battery charger. I also think the review could have been 20 minutes shorter - and still have made the main points. -
There are a lot of little differences between X-T4 and X-T30 II that may or may not be important to you - better EVF - weather sealing - two card slots (and UHS-II for faster write speed) - larger buffer - better video specs - better battery - faster continuous bursts with mechanical shutter - available battery grip. What is important to you? The X-T5 is unlikely to bring much improvement in IQ but it will have the latest processor and sensor so probably all round faster.

This setting needs to be ON: Set Up Menu=>Button/Dial Setting=>Shutter AF=>AF-C

Auto focus only --Aperture and SS manual
Greybeard replied to Coz's topic in Newbie / Self Introduction
Focus and exposure are separate. Set automatic focus using the switch on the front of the camera (C or S): https://fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/x-t30/taking_photo/autofocus/index.html#focus_mode Set aperture and shutter speed using dials (shutter speed dial on camera and aperture on lens): https://fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/x-t30/taking_photo/shooting_mode/index.html#manual -
Thats an interesting question. IBIS gives you stabilization in more axes than OIS. I can't find anything from FujiFilm that discusses the way they work together on the X-T4. You don't have a choice when you turn on IBIS in the body or OIS on the lens (if applicable) you get both. The only thing from FujiFilm I could find that discusses IBIS and OIS actually working together is from this firmware update for the X-H1: https://fujifilm-x.com/en-gb/products/cameras/x-h1/feature-firmware/

I'm out of ideas - looked at the image metadata and you are definitely in single drive mode. I can't see any settings that would cause this.
-
I believe it depends whether you are in AF-C or AF-S. In AF-C IBIS is initiated with half press - in AF-S it acts in the way DaveC says and only kicks in when the shutter is released.

This is the card I got - it’s not available from Amazon in the UK either - I got it from a camera store (in the UK) https://www.vistek.ca/store/451271/150GB-BLACK-CFexpress-Type-B-Card-1725MBs-read-&-1530-MBs-write-speeds its my only CF Express card so I don’t have anything else to compare

The new custom settings include most settings - both the operational shooting settings and the existing custom film simulation settings. That is good and bad - its good because it gives you lots of custom flexibility but bad in that it doesn't let you separate operational and image quality customization.

I have a Delkin Black and no complaints so far - clears buffer quickly after high speed continuous bursts. I assume you've seen the compatibility list: https://fujifilm-x.com/global/support/compatibility/cameras/list-of-supported-memory-cards/#cfexpress

Agree with RavBen - no wobbles and no tromboning here -
Did you have the shutter dial set to B by mistake?
-
Unlikely its firmware related - what happens if you turn the camera to full auto? If that doesn't work there may be something wrong.
-
Do you know the information that would need to be transferred? Is it the same for every image? If so you could run Exiftool in batch mode and apply the lens info to each image. It would be a good idea to set the manual lens settings on the X-T4 so that you can identify which lens had been used.

Joys and Sorrows of getting an X-H2S on 7/7
Greybeard replied to JacobC's topic in Fuji X-H1 / Fuji X-H2s / Fuji X-H2
Sorry to hear that - its a strange message as slot 1 is the CF Express card - I assume you had nothing in that slot? Best of luck in getting your new camera in time. -
Yes it might be a good lens - but we just don't get enough light here in the UK most of the year
-
That is one of the reasons I always buy new - you never know what previous owners have done - just sold on my X-T3 in perfect condition - completely reliable since being bought on release date.

Can you link to sample files (both shots)? (The settings are stored in the EXIF metadata)

UHC-II in one slot, UHC-I in the other... downsides?
Greybeard replied to boldblue737's topic in Fuji X-T4
I have used UHS-II in one slot of the X-T3 and UHS-I in the other but shoot in sequential mode so the UHS-I would only be used if the first slot fills. If you shoot in backup mode the camera will write at the speed of the slower card.
