milandroThanks. Corrected. This one hasn't worked out and closed. There are not enough "unlock" people obviously.

200mp on FF sensor? Not interested at all. The only thing it would do is overload my computer, camera and storage. 16mp is enough for me at APS-C; 36 at FF; 80 at MF. The latest should be enough for everything. 200mp on FF will be a gimmick like 16mp on a cell phone. Or a special purpose camera when combined with sharpest macro lenses that can resolve 2um.

wedding shoot, recommendation needed for focus settings
Dis replied to shane's topic in General Discussion
Have you tried AF-C + zone 9 + Cl? This usually works great for me with such slow motion like aisle walking. Back in manual focus days we were shooting with prefocus. Focus peak assist and continuous drive revive this technique for me. -
Fuji locks have evolved. I like the X-T1's lock a lot more than X-Pro1's one.

Best LE Filter for Fuji 10-24mm f4 R OIS XF Lens?
Dis replied to flowerqueen's topic in Fuji X Lenses
Rectangular multi-stop ND filter is a bad idea. Even Lee's big stopper. My friend has one and he experiences lot's of trouble because of the light that gets between the filter and the lens. I use standard circular hoya filter and it works great. -
Focus ring is quite tight. Nevertheless it doesn't help mounting the lens. One has to grab it by aperture ring in the end position or by the lens front and rear at the same time by one hand. It's not easy but you'll get used to it.

Just a bunch of spares and the problem is solved. Quite a reasonable price for x100* advantages. BTW my single full charged battery is always enough for 300+ photos two hour photoshoots. EVF only x100s. Nevertheless I still dream about 16,23,35,56,90 X-mount lenses with leaf shutters as 23 and TCL are not always enough))).
-
To me the main drawback is too loose aperture ring. I wish it would be similar to 90/2. Otherwise the lens is great.

I prefer x100 series + TCL. Of course PixelPeepers will now scream about low sharpness at close focus distances. But IMO x100 series is must have for any serious portrait photographer because of the leaf shutter. Otherwise sell everything you have including your family and get medium format)))

I don't understand why you don't like the x100 series quality. My X100s feels like all metal tank except for doors which is not a problem when it's in the case. I don't have X-pro1 so I have nothing to compare with but IMO X100 series mechanics is superb.

If you're OK with 35mm and 50mm eq. I'd recommend to stick with X100T and TCL. It's more stealth-like than X-T1 and much faster than original X100. I use X100s and TCL most of the time for studio portraits. I take longer lenses only for single person closeups.
-
What are you shooting?
-
I've lost my standard eyecap. Be careful. It's too easy to loose accidentally. It looks like I will get extended one now.

Watson and Green Extreme are OK

Peterh, no hope here. Fuji X is dead crappy system used only by crazy fans. You won't be able even sell it for real money as nobody wants it. You should switch to sony. Have you seen the utilization sign on Fuji equipment? It means you can't just through this eqipment to garbage. You have to utilize it properly. Luckily I work in the utilization facility so I can do it for you free of charge. Just send me all your worthless Fuji gear and forget adout it as a bad dream.

I'd use 16, 23 and 35.

Great off camera flash setup for X-T1
Dis replied to Antony's topic in Flash Photography with Fuji X
This is true. Nevertheless it's better than with x-pro1 as it almost blocks the shutter dial lock. I have no real problems with X-T1 thanks to it's fake pentaprism housing and with x100s because it has no shutter dial lock. -
TTL Flash using an X-T1 and a Nikkon SB700 Unit
Dis replied to jlmphotos's topic in Flash Photography with Fuji X
I use SB-700 with Fuji via Cactus V6 adapters. No TTL but you can alter the power of the flash remotely. Works great! You can also mount SB-700 on camera via V6. No TTL again but it works. Nevertheless the weight balance is awful so I don't recommend it. The only way to have off camera TTL on Fuji is to use a Fuji TTL-compatible flash (Fuji or Nissin) and adapt it via Canon TTL cord. I haven't tried it but some people say it works. -
This depends on the lightning. It should be enough if you can use reflected sunlight.
-
That's right. And thus the main drawback of this lens is the lack of OIS.

90mm. It's a new gem. It allows to have one lens for details and compressed background portraits at last. That's amaizing!

Hi folks. I find Fuji manual focus rings is one of the most serious problems of the X-system. It's about a year and a half I'm an X-shooter and I'm still not used to it. The thing that irritates me most is that the focus distance depends on the speed not the angle of the ring rotation. For those of you who don't get it here is an example: -Take non-clutch mechanism Fuji lens. -Focus at 0.5m. -Rotate the ring 45 degrees CW fast. -Rotate it 45 degrees CCW slowly. -The lens will be focused at something like 2m. Nothing near 0.5m. Of course some may say (so as the official specification) that it's a "feature". It provides both: fast refocus at large distance change and precision at every focus distance. But to me it slows down precision focusing a lot. Thus it makes the advantage invaluable. In the end the only way I use MF mode with non-clutch lenses is instant AF with AF-L button which is actually not manual focusing. I have several MF lenses. I used them on X-T1 while my lens setup wasn't complete. They are so much better at MF than native lenses! Also I never had any problems with refocusing at large distances. Moreover X-T1 offers great MF assist. It's the same or even better than old manual focus SLRs. It's worlds better than modern DSLRs. And it's a shame that native lenses ruin this advantage. The exception is clutch mechanism lenses. I love the 16/1.4 for this. It uses same focus-by-wire technology as all other lenses. But it has fixed focus distance for every angle. Thus I expect it would be great if Fuji release the FW update to add an option to Focus rings menu: biasing focus ring to the speed or the the angle. What do you think about Fuji's manual focusing using focus rings? What do you like/don't like?
