X-T1 Weather Seal - How extreme can you go with it?
Dis replied to Toon's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
Even the crappiest non-sealed modern camera with plastic zoom lens deals with drizzle. If X-T1 can't work in serious rain what's the point of sealing though? -
I don't agree. I like only center zone AF during tracking. Thus even with PDAF all over the sensor I would require the choice of zone AF.
-
I agree. Nikon has just released 16-80/2.8-4 lens that weights 500g. It's all plastic though. I'd prefer f/4 version with aperture markings, WR, same weight and suberb metal body like most XFs.

Green extreme and Watson are OK

Current back button focus works only like single point AF. You can't make it work in zone AF. It's also a long menu travel to switch from single AF to continuous. Proper back button focus should work in work in AF-C as continuous and in AF-S as single without menu fiddling and with ability to use zone and wide AF. Also half pressed shutter button locks the exposure.

That's not fair. Some people didn't believe Fuji will implement EC in manual with auto ISO. Now we have it. Fuji listens and does.

It looks like not. You can get third party wireless cable release but in the end it works via the same micro-usb or 2.5 audio jack sockets.

Firmware 4.0 and Exposure Compensation in M / autoISO
Dis replied to PieroP's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
It'd be more correct to say thay auto iso value isn't displayed until shutter button half pressed. Only maximum auto iso value displayed before half-press. I find it little bit annoying too. But I was waiting for this feature for quite a long time so I'm not complaining. -
It's funny but I did the opposite. I've rarely used full manual on DSLRs because I was afraid of forgetting to switch settings when the light changes. With Fuji I usually do full manual as EVF shows me the final image so I won't forget to change the exposure. Moreover I rarely switch the metering setting as I measure the exposure in the EVF with my eye.

With an addition that X-T10 silver is not GS. I like silver more than GS.

This works for small lenses with cylinder hood like XF56, but bad idea for pentahood of long 18-135 lens.

My Impressions after the first wedding with Fuji was exactly the same. I turned back to DSLRs immediately for several months. All this time I was shooting only static and home scenes with Fuji. As a result my total shooting style changed drastically. What's important, my photos got better. In the end I've tried to shoot weddings with Fuji again and never got back to DSLRs again. Weddings can be shot by Fuji As effective as with DSLRs. One has just to adapt to all the nuances of Mirrorless. Now with new FW, the switch from DSLRs to Fuji will be more easy.

I'd use hoya pro1 digital or HD depending on the use of the lens.
-
I'd change f2.8-4 to f/4 in exchange to internal zoom and WR.
-
I'd say the most expensive filter worth buying is hoya HD. It's great in all ways I can imagine.

DOWNLOAD NOW X-T1 Firmware 4.0 ! Share your first impression
Dis replied to Patrick FR's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
I became very sceptical about FW4 after first impressions of beta version users and fuji guys video. Someone has written that 56 has the same speed. Thus I've descided that the only meaningful improvement for me will be EC in manual. Well I was wrong. New zone AF with AF-C makes 56/1.2 an autofocus lens. I am finally able to shoot my son no it only when he's sitting still. Moreover thanks to this new tracking ability the viewfinder functionality has increased. Why? I'm now able to shoot in CL and AF-C with high percentage of correct focus. (Spot AF is still useless with AF-C.) And only in this mode the viewfinder shows video image between two frames. Additionally I love that AF spots are dispayed in CH drive. This helps a lot. I the end new AF capabilities are amazing! -
I've tried the X-T1 grip. It's great but too expensive in relation to it's construction. Now I'm used to built-in grip and I have no regrets I've taken an extra battery instead.

It's worth it if you need f/1.4. If you're OK with f/2.8 14mm is perfect.
