X-pro 2 unimpressive AF
Aswald replied to petergabriel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Sometimes we just have to take an experience for what it is. In this case, the cameras fared badly.....or there may have been some unknown external factors. Either that or you have "hard to detect" palms! Perhaps the only way to allay this "unique" experience is to try another time. Maybe at another store with a completely different body and lens. I'd recommend you to give it another go. -
Help me become a Fuji user please?

I agree on the "old A7R".... -

The photo coming out of the Fujifilm is the main reason. It's just breathtaking. If you love 35mm on FF then the 23 F1.4 is a must. Other than that, I'd recommend the XF60. Odd little fella but takes great pictures. I also love the Samyang 12mm F2. Another odd fella but really sharp lens. Compared to the Sony A7X series, I find that AF is more predictable on the Fujifilm and pictures from Fujifilm have more character. -
The only cap I find odd (although strangely adorable) is the 60 macro. At 39mm and feeling somewhat flimsy, I have to fix the macro ring light on a modified flash rail attached to the body. All my other systems attaches on the macro lens filter thread.

For macro, 90 is good starting point topping up at 180mm (FF equivalent) for those jittery critters. More importantly is sharpness and close focusing distances. Weight is also an important part if you are going to be bound with flash guns. Weather sealing is great for more unique shots in the wet. Speed is always a bonus but watch out for workable DOF. Just my 2 cents.

Fuji X-T10, with the 60mm over the 35mm...
Aswald replied to thesilenceofthelens's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
On the X-Pro2, the XF60 is great. The AF performance of the X-T10 and X-Pro2 is very similar. It's very usable. The only real advantage of the 56 over the 60 is perhaps, low light and close up bokeh. Other than that, the 60 is a beautiful lens. With the 35, I find that you'd have to shoot much closer. At times, it may be difficult in a wedding.- 10 replies

Uugh......a rather tricky problem. Generally, alcohol will clean up the oils in the tangerine. Warm water should be fine for the juices. Looking at the construction, all knobs and dials are probably removable from under the top cover. I. e. you'd have to remove the top cover to gain access to dismantle the dials for cleaning. Attached pics of an XA1 top cover for reference. Here's something about citric juices which you may want to know. It etches onto some surfaces and melt some plastics. Not sure how the X-T1 material will stand up against that. Send it in for cleaning?

X-pro 2 unimpressive AF

That's odd. Mine focuses fine and rather quickly too. xp1 and xp2, the same. My hand was side lit by window light. -
Now we know the 85 F1.2 not only have a huge front glass, it's tough too! I only managed to remove the rear glass of the 85 F1.2 to clean the rear elements. Even then I was a nervous wreck! Mk1 version and discontinued. Means no parts from Canon.

Oh my.....let's hope none of us have to go to that extent to prove a point!

Switching memory card slots on the X-Pro2?
Aswald replied to abonhamc's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
I like the "goofy" iso dial too. It's only ever unusual when it's "up side down" at moderate shutter speed settings......1/60 - 1/500.....but I got used to it and almost don't look at it anymore. -
That's great news. Hopefully the new lenses are clean! Exciting times!

U.S's IATA regulations have changed and they are now imposing very stringent control on shipping of Li-ion batteries either in or out of the U.S. All Li-Ion batteries MUST be shipped separately from any other items. Max. 2 Li-ion batteries in one box. If your batteries comes with a charger unit, it will be removed and packaged in a separate box. After which you have to ship them as separate packages, I. e. 2 separate shipping charge. Needless to say, it will increase cost dramatically. Unless the overseas supplier adheres to these regulations, IATA will not allow the package to land on U.S soil. Most seller will just decline to sell to avoid all these hassle.

Yes, you can use the 199A on Fujifilm cameras. In fact, you can utilize the 199A's on board auto circuitry to adjust it's own lighting. Just set the settings to reflect your camera's or vice versa. Some fine adjustments are required of course. The 199A's flash temperature is slightly lower / warmer than modern speedlights so, you need to keep that in mind. And oh yes.....the recycle time......

That's rather unusual. I have 5 XF lenses and only the 18 has had problems with "metal" shavings in it. I never really tested it to see if it was really metal but under my lab light they looks "whitish". The other lenses were very clean when I got them new.

The vivitar 283 has a 250v trigger voltage. The X-T1 is "safe" up to 300v. Not sure about XPro2. You may want to tame the voltage more to be completely safe. There are some guide on the net. -
Yes, you can set min ISO on auto ISO mode. EVF shows the actual exposure.

Agreed. Until processors can function double the speed that they do now, having a separate AF processor to handle AF job discretely is the main advantage of the dslr system over mirror less. This will be even more crucial in a MF system where there will be more information to compute. At this juncture, I can only think of dual processors as a plausible solution. Dual X Precessor Pro? A giant XPro2?
