E2 firmware4.0 and red eye reduction pre-flash
flysurfer replied to sandrogsp's topic in Flash Photography with Fuji X
Actually, there's a whole tip about this setting this in my books, for example tip 33 in my X-T10 book (use coupon XT1050 for a 50% friends&family discount), citing at least 7 good reasons (not counting this bug). This is now also the recommended book for X-E2 and X-E2S users. Please do not buy my X-E2 book is you are using the X-E2 with firmware 4! Get the X-T10 book instead. In any case, I remember the RAW and flash bug from older firmwares or cameras, and sadly, it's also in the X-Pro2. So select FINE+RAW or NORMAL+RAW to get around it. There is no other way. -
X-Pro2 delayed
flysurfer replied to fordfanjpn's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
How would a local store in Sweden know anything? Over here, shipping starts on 10MAR. That is if nothing else happens. And by the way, I hope that Fuji will revisit this so-called production firmware. While it does work, there are still a few things in it that should be taken care of. In any case, firmware certainly wasn't the reason to delay the hardware. But hey, what do I know? -
X-Pro2 delayed

When and where did Fuji state/admit that there's a delay due to a firmware issue? -
E2 firmware4.0 and red eye reduction pre-flash
flysurfer replied to sandrogsp's topic in Flash Photography with Fuji X
Old bug, has been known for quite some time. Since it isn't recommended to shoot RAW only, it doesn't practically affect many users, though. -
Neither. It's as it is supposed to be. Of course, shooting RAW-only is not recommended, anyway. See tip 26 (Always shoot FINE+RAW) in my X-T1 book for at least seven reasons why.

It's also Adobe RGB, so only useful for CMYK printing and home viewing on wide-gamut displays, but not for showing it on the web or to other people's devices. Reprocess the RAW in-camera using sRGB and a different film simulation (Pro Neg Std offers mode DR), or process the RAW in Lightroom or a similar converter with good highlight recovery. You can also post the RAW file here via Dropbox, so we can fix it for you.

X-Pro2 delayed
flysurfer replied to fordfanjpn's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Unlikely. -
Nah, it will of course be "full-frame" (the holy grail) with an E-Mount for the Sony fans.
-
Since the X-T10 has AUTO mode and a processor for it, of course its firmware is larger. Basically the same size as the X-E2S firmware. Fuji France announced that the X-E2 would get a new firmware soon after the X-T1 got its upgrade. And nobody was forced to buy an X-T10 if they didn't want one. X-Pro2 isn't delayed for firmware reasons.

New rumors have already begun. Proof of the 32/33mm !?
flysurfer replied to Maurice's topic in Fuji X Lenses
Of course there are no 33mm framelines. There's 32mm for the Zeiss and 35mm for the Fujinons. -
Unlike the X-E2 and X-T1, the X100 Classic never got any additional film simulations. No Pro Neg Std. No Pro Neg Hi. No Classic Chrome. Acros is an X-Processor Pro thing.

IIRC, Fuji has been using 2 processors (CPUs) since the beginning of the X series.

FUJI X-PRO2 MENU PROBLEM
flysurfer replied to Paul Crespel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
I like it, too. I mean, it's mandatory, anyway. If you set the camera to Viewfinder ONLY, everything MUST appear in the viewfinder and nothing can appear on the LCD. I know several people complained about the LCD going on when they pressed the menu button, and it's also bad for folks who need reading glasses but shoot w/o them with the viewfinder: they couldn't see the menu on the LCD very well. They'd have to locate and put on their glasses first. Or they'd have to switch from OVF to EVF, then press the menu button, change the desired menu setting, then switch back to the OVF. Pretty inconvenient, especially for quick Fn-button-induced settings changes like changing the DR. These things need to happen fast. Most affected users probably didn't even know that the EVF behavior was different from the OVF behavior. Very inconsistent. So this bug (or user interface inconsistency) was fixed in the X100T and X-Pro2. -
2 reasons: It's not mirrorless. It's not a Fuji.

I'm sure that the Sony components guys will deliver any components Fujifilm is asking for. That's what they do. It's their business.

FUJI X-PRO2 MENU PROBLEM
flysurfer replied to Paul Crespel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Not sure if that's a bad thing given the tone and attitude in which this complaint is presented. Obviously, Fuji can't and won't implement every suggestion and they certainly can't make everybody happy. But they could offer more options to customize the cameras for different preferences. Make the cameras more flexible, so they work for a larger group of users and shooting styles. It's all firmware, no hardware changes required. It's the same with the ISO dial (electronic and programmable vs. pseudo-mechanical and non-programmable). Some like it one way, others prefer the other. Fuji could find ways to make both groups happy (I made suggestions how to fix that dilemma as long as 2 years ago), but they obviously don't, as seen in the X-T1 and now X-Pro2 with their pseudo-manual dials that exclude ISO from all custom user settings. -

I don't use Canon, Nikon, Sony etc. Why would I? -
FUJI X-PRO2 MENU PROBLEM
flysurfer replied to Paul Crespel's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
They fixed it for everybody who complained. Must have been many complaints. Who knows? I didn't complain, as I always use eye detection, anyway, so it wasn't high on my list. I made a different suggestion (see below). I like that it's consistent now. Setting the camera to "Viewfinder ONLY" means that only the viewfinder is displaying stuff and the LCD stays off. There are other modes (like eye-detection) and maybe Fuji should add another one that allows users to pick a screen for the menu and one for composition. That's what I had suggested after the X-E2 came out, I did so several times, nobody in Tokyo seems to listen, so that is that. -

I'm glad they fixed this issue in the X100T and X-Pro2, it's what works best for me, and it's what I want. -
I'm glad to live in Germany. Free loaners for everybody during the repair time (one only has to ask). And free one-time sensor cleaning by Fujifilm with every system camera purchase. And 2 years warranty.
