This might surprise some people: Looks like on par zoom to prime IQ is no longer reserved to Fuji lens. In fact, Sigma does one better on Nikon's own turf.

if I didn't know that was a lighthouse from the first photo, you could mess with someone and say the second shot was a spaceship in outer space traveling to the next galaxy. Cool shots.

very inviting. like the star burst, leading lines, trees framing the sides and choice of dof. Would make a great photo to place yourself into the frame. ;-)

beautiful! great mood captured. Love the fog and the grass strip between the paths well travelled.

great light! New England? The rocks looks like Maine to me.

beautiful place. I like your choice to use B&W and white falls highlights. I'm curious about the man made slide on camera right. Do you know the reason for building it? Reduce erosion?

the tones look great to me Phil. Nice star burst at f/16. I can't find the focal distance in your EXIF data. Do you remember where you focused?

Disappointed with the X-T10? Don't worry, Nikon made it even worse :)
x-tc replied to Amonsul's topic in Fuji X Rumors & News
I think the people hoping it would be a "cheaper" bargain X-T1, and can tell the difference, were disappointed. It's not. However, for those people, who don't value all the differences between the X-T1 and X-T10, then they will certainly be happy to have a cheaper option. I'm kind of in the same situation as you. I have both an X-E1 and an X-T1. I know they are not the same camera and I use them differently. I got what I paid for in each. X-T10 certainly makes a great upgrade for the X-E1 for me. Although, I am no rush as I already have an X-T1. I am neither disappointed or surprised about the X-T10. I did not expect a "cheaper" X-T1. I think people will buy and get exactly what they pay for and value. If they don't value the differences between X-T1 and X-T10 then the X-T1 certainly looked overpriced and they will be happy with the X-T10 because it looks like a bargin. If they need to ask what's the difference between X-T1 and X-T10, then I just tell people to go for the X-T10 as they likely will not need all the X-T1 offers over the X-10. Ignorance is bliss, I figure. If I need to explain or point out the difference, they probably wouldn't appreciate it or utilize the difference enough in the first place. Know what I mean? -
depends on your intended use and how you use it. You can both emphasize (foreground & camera tilt) and avoid (background & level camera) the perspective distortion. Its up to you. Not to be confused with barrel distortion. It certainly requires a bit more care to use the wider and closer you get to result in the look you are after.

Glad to see there are still people in the world that want to stop down their lens. Glad you figured it out. Thanks for the update. What shocks me is that there are come cheap adapters out there for EF lens which don't even allow you to stop down.... and they sell!

X100S FW updates.
x-tc replied to Erez's topic in Fuji X100VI / X100 / X100S / X100T / X100F / X100V / Fuji X70
owlcavestudios, you sound completely reasonable to me. There is no direct Fuji competitor to the X100T or successor announced. It should be getting updates. On the other hand, why is X100T price dropping drastically without new HW announcement in sight. Especially with the competition from some other manufacturers dropping out? Something is going on. -
XT-1 Firmware Should go to Xpro-1 too
x-tc replied to EduFierro's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
if X-Pro1 is really so good that it is preventing customers from buy other cameras in SLR form factor, then they wouldn't need to discount it as heavily as they have. The niche should have kept the price stable. Especially as there has been no direct successor announced. With the same line of reasoning, I think Fuji could have decided to update the firmware if they thought it could keep the sales price up (profit margin) and worth their time to do so until the successor was close to being announced. Like they have done with the X-T1, which keeps getting updates. So I see two possibilities here: 1. X-Pro2 is just around the corner. Although, I don't know why they would drop the price early. Fuji could have waited until announcement of direct successor, at least , if it was still selling well. 2. They decided the X-Pro1 is not different enough from X-T1 to put in an effort to keep the X-Pro1 firmware maintained and up to date until the successor arrives. Why else drop the price so drastically, decreasing profit margin, and bundling in other lens which are not selling that well? Especially for a camera that was still reportedly in production as of early 2015. -
If the only reason that you are on Fuji is because of the viewfinder position, then Fuji has bigger problems. If this distinction was a crucial as you say as it to the masses, then everyone would be doing it. Don't you agree? btw, which quality glass is coming for Sony? I assume you referring to using the Sony cropped e-mount bodies. Or are you consider using FE FF lens on the A6000 cropped body? As I am sure you are aware that Sony decided to make their FF mirrorless camera a SLR like body. They could have choosen to keep trucking along with their past rangerfinder like bodies like the prior NEX-6/NEX-7 but they choose to do SLR style instead. I thinking there is something behind that decision to make a change. Olympus as well coming from PEN. And Panasonic. And Nikon. Why do you think that is?

ah.. thanks. btw, you are too kind, but I am no expert.. just an observer. I'd don't even own an MF camera. Just trying to understand your opinion of why they would ever try to enter the MF market with a camera that undercuts the lowest competitor in that market by $3000. Its counter to past behavior. Perhaps you knew something that I did not.

when Bert makes a joke about people commenting about the model when evaluating lens, it just makes me focus in on the thing he joked about. Strange how that works. The power of suggestion.

As I said earlier, Fuji is not Sony. IMHO, they will not compete based on price on high end equipment. If the cheapest competitor is selling camera for $8k for the body, its more likely based on their past history with X introduction, will sell theirs for $10k or higher like the PhaseOne. If you disagree, why do you believe Fuji is motivated to sell for $3k less than the Pentax? Is there anything that leads you to believe that Fuji is motivated to undercut anyone on price based on APS-C form factor "X" or 2/3 "X" sensor relative to Pentax or any other competitors? I'm surprised by your response. Help me understand your logic. Its there something you have seen which leads you to believe the Fuji will act differently in respect to price in medium format than what they have traditional done in 2/3 compact, APC-S mirrorless or the Fuji DX DSLR bodies? Pentax will show them the door if they try to compete with them on price IMHO. In the same way Sony would if they tried to do that on 2/3 compact, APC-S mirrorless.

You really should not take Red G8R's comment out of context. They stated why they are not interested at all, and its quite reasonable. "Not interested at all. I came to Fuji because I wanted a small quality camera. I still have my FF Nikons so for me MF is out of the question." I'm not sure how this reasoning makes them the minority. Many of us are here for the exact same reason. Do you own a MF digital camera now? If not, why is that?

Or both. Your check it out at a camera shop idea would be best.

Are you going to try to get another thumb grip? They are certainly nice and I think you might miss not having one. If so, which model. If budget is a concern, look for used.
-
That's not why and you know it. Lol. I got your point, it didn't fall on deaf ears. Eyes?Just because you can shoot wide open doesn't mean you should. I stop down more often than don't.

I want the XF 10-24... is it worth selling the 18mm and 14mm for it?
x-tc replied to Patrick FR's topic in Fuji X Lenses
Perhaps you meant Nikon 16-35/4 VR on FF. The 10-24 is cropped sensor variable aperture with no OIS.
