Lino's Achievements

  1. I use a cheap IR hotshoe adapter from Walimex (model CY-20YS) since the first day i got my camera and it really syncs at 1/4000 every time - yes, it's impressive how it works. The only disadvantage is the red cast fired from the trigger when i take a picture, and, of course, the usage outdoor in bright sun it's almost impossible. Anyway, it's good to have news like these, as i can use the highest sync speed of my X100s without the problems i have nowadays! Cheers,
  2. Yes it works, but (there is always a but)... i'd like to compare a side-by-side SOOC picture with an original CC profile shoot from a 100T to check if the color rendering looks the same than in this hacked 100S profile. Anyway, the CC mode looks good, but only when you import the picture into LR... I'd like to see it on camera, like mostly 100s would like to. Cheers,

  6. WOW! great shot, lovely colors!
  7. Hello all, My name is Lino, age 31 from the amazing Azores Islands, in the middle of the Atlantic. Currently living on Terceira Island, i was born on the main island of the archipelago, called São Miguel. Since i was young, i loved to steal my parents film camera In early 2000's i put together 2 passions: aviation and photography, so i became a plane spotter since then. Nowadays i became freelance graphic designer and photographer. I mostly do editorial photography, documentary and photo journalism, and portrait to. I'm a Canon user still... but just for shooting airplanes! I love my awesome x100s and she loves me too! Cheers, X100S | ISO200 | 23mm | f2.0 | 1/25
  8. Manual video options, like more FPS (i think that the leaf shutter can be tricky on it), more video modes, and probably, a new focus peaking just like Sony, with colored peaks, wich would be very usefull on some situations. Period.
  9. Hi, I'm creating this open thread to everyone who'd like to share pictures showing some strobe usage on their x-system. Here's my first contribution, with a sample from a editorial photography photoshoot for a sponsored bodybuilder who participated on FIBO 2015, in Germany. Simple setup, with 2x YN560III triggered from a YN560TX mounted on my X100S (yes, the 100S can also be helpful in situations like these, with the "leaf shutter" technology - and yes, it's a great camera for all pruposes, not necessarily directed for street photography). I used a high shutter speed to kill as much as i can the ambient light and also to give to the model some structure with very hard transitions between shadows and lit areas. The main light was fired from a 80cm silver umbrella (slightly folded) to ensure the light beam was slightly narrow and perfectly diffused, and the second light was placed in the top of the stairs, not only for composition, but also to give some rim light on him. Share your pictures, discuss techniques and gear and happy shootings X100S | ISO200 | 23mm | f5.6 | 1/1000

  11. Hello all, I've searched all around the web and found some curious stuff about cheaper lens adapter in fuji x100 series cameras. Yes, I love the current fixed focal lenght of my 100s, but sometimes, stepping backward is not enough to get a wider look, or moving forward to get closer is impossible avoiding natural 35mm distortion (in portraits, for example)... Anyway, does anyone here have tried before another low-budget alternatives to Fuji's original WCLX100 and TCLX100? If yes, i'd like to hear about it, with some samples if possible. Take care,
  12. Well, my workflow is based on the combo usage between PN and LR. LR for import and catalog - ok, that's the initial point. After that i choose the correct camera color profile in LR to match the one i choose on camera. After that, i use PN for de-mosaicing and some basic adjustments like NR or sharpening, highlights and shadow recovery and save it. PN is unreplaceable on this process, i've tried some other 3rd-party softwares and this one works like a charm in my X100s files. Back the LR i only adjust some parameters like color, contrast or vibration and that's all, i just export it the way i want to. Resuming, working as a standalone app for processing RAF files, i would not recomend PN, but as an external editor it's amazing when you get a consistent workflow in your photos.
