Aaaaand my wish came true with firmware 2.x for the X-T2!!!
-
Ah back in the good ole days I remember by Fuji Finepix S1Pro dSLR with the two different batteries, had a MINIMUM ISO of 320!! Those 3 megapixel files were fabulous! ISO 800 was about the max unless you had some serious noise reduction skills as LR wasn't around. I remember using Noise Ninja back then. Ahhhh. The good ole days (insert sarcasm here)

I do not remember if I posted this yesterday, I actually meant to: You may want to go to this website: https://www.lightroomqueen.com Not only does she provide useful information, but there are an entire set of Forums in there that "may" be able to help you out. Give it a run and see what you think.

Welcome aboard! I came over from the Nikon world. I was a Nikon(er) for the longest time, but Fuji won me over. I find the noise at higher ISO's much less objectionable than those of Nikon -- and I tried cleaning the Nikon NEF files up in Capture NX2, and other apps. Just not to my liking. I do miss the lightning fast auto-focus though, but I can live without that. Anyway, welcome to our little world. Best, J

Can I ask: 1. What do you consider "slow" or "long"? I really am curious here as I'd like to benchmark my LR and my X-T2 raws. 2. I shoot uncompressed. I wonder if Adobe has to take time to de-compress the files to actually make the changes (?) I'm only asking here, as I am not an engineer. But I'd be very, very curious to determine what you consider a long time, or slowness. My catalog as over 55,000 images in one, and over 40,000 in another so doubt if your 6000 are causing the issue. Thank you

Which Slingstrap for X-T2?
jlmphotos replied to Hermelin's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
I only use TWO dongles, both hanging off the left side of the camera. This way the camera dangles off my right hip very comfortably. -
These are two very simple fixes that Fuji should implement in the next round of firmware updates: 1. PLEASE DEAR FUJI: Make it so that each location (C1 through C7) save their settings!!! Not only certain ones, ALL OF THEM. If I set up C1 for Landscape work, I don't want to switch to C2 (call it grandkids) and have to switch the focusing mode, File type, etc. Each C mode in the Q menu needs to be saved. How hard can this be for crying out loud????!!!! 2. Let me add WHATEVER I want to the "My Menu" so that... Well, I can add whatever the heck I want! Easy. If you did just those two things, I would be oh so happy!

Sony sensors are great. The cameras as a whole unit are crap. Period. Also, I've dealt with Sony service. It's freakin' horrible; and I thought Nikon in Melville, NY (Long Island) was bad. No. Try Sony. Oh, and Good Luck. That's my answer and I'm sticking to it.

Video really needs to be top priority for Fuji
jlmphotos replied to val's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
If you can go get yourself a Panasonic G4 or something along those lines. Let Fuji develop what they are the BEST at: still cameras. You know what Fuji should do immediately? Via Firmware no doubt: Fix the damned "Q" menu so when I create say a "landscape" in C2 for example, ALL, and I repeat ALL my settings stay with C2. I shouldn't have to make ANY changes except select C1 through C7. Period. -

Not sure if this was an accident, serious issue, or a joke. Did you accidentally drop it in a pool? However while shooting stock and personal work in the Outer Banks at the end of March my back pack FULL of spare camera, and ALL my lenses, batteries and memory cards was "washed/carried away" by an errant wave that was retreating back into the ocean while I was shooting and not paying attention. Luckily, my daughter who was shooting with me snagged it with her tripod as it was going by her!!! If not, the bag would have been totally swamped by the new waves coming on shore in the early morning dawn. What a wet, and sand covered mess though... Nothing as nasty as wet sticky sand. Thank goodness for the cheap Amazon bag (copy of a LowePro model), and the fact I had closed all the zippers on the bag. The only item that got a bit wet was the Zeiss 12mm 2.8 as the wave smacked that particular side of the bag where the lens was sitting. All is well though...

LOVE the feeling the texture on this image provides. Nice shot!

Is there such thing as a Fuji Meet up in NYC?
jlmphotos replied to CristinaSantelises's topic in Newbie / Self Introduction
I'd love to have some fuji walkabouts either in NYC, or where I live near Philly. -
If you want to wait, I suggest some inexpensive Extension tubes off Amazon. I use them with my 18-55 and the 35 1.4. Just a few weeks ago I bought on a terrific sale the 60mm 2.4 Macro -- even though it's only 2:1 reproduction ratio and I am thrilled with it! Though I will say my 16 1.4 I think focuses CLOSER than 60mm, but a totally different perspective.

Purple Image Error X-T2 (and X-pro 2) with backlight
jlmphotos replied to a topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
I've shot into the sun with both my X-T1 and 2 and have not experienced this yet. Interesting effect though... -
How the heck can you go off to Europe for five months? Just asking... I travel a lot, but it's usually two-three weeks at a time as my job (IT Manager) keeps me grounded.

Another "wish" is that any changes in the Q menu STAY with that Setting. In other words if I set C1 a certain way, then switch to C2, I don't want ANY of my C1 settings coming over to C2.

Which Slingstrap for X-T2?
jlmphotos replied to Hermelin's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
I own both the Peak Design and the BR. I always grab the Peak Design. It's much more easily removable, and less obstructive. -
I was facing the same dilemma and I opted for the 60mm Macro 2.4 over the 50 f2. Why? First because I wanted the extra close-focus of the 60, secondly I got it for a great price brand new of $479.00 US. I was torn though, that choice could have gone either way! I will say that after using the 60 wide open at 2.4 I marvel at the sharpness and clarity. It may be the 50 F2 does the same, but I'll never know. So far I'm rather happy with my 60.

Love these! Thank you for sharing. I purchased the 60 2.4 Macro a few weeks ago for under $500 bucks on sale and I've yet to put it to good use. Looking forward to shooting some stills with it.
-
Agreed the 35 1.4 is oh so much nicer. I feel good shooting with my 23 1.4 It feels solid, it's fast, and it's heavy which I enjoy.
-
My question would be: Why didn't you return it? CAN you still return it? I know, I know, not helpful, but I'm always logical in my responses whenever I can. And, I looked at the image but I don't do charts..... However, I thought back focusing/frontfocusing was not possible on a mirrorless camera. It seems I learned something new today.

The 18-55 is my "don't leave home without it lens" Honestly. I have a boatload of primes, as you can see in my signature block but the 18-55 is tack sharp, corners are pretty good; it's a very flexible lens. I'm working on a project now that I shot down in the Outer Banks, my goal was to use my primes, so I packed everything and the kitchen sink into my backpack. Guess what I used for 90% of my images? The 18-55! Then the 55-200, and a few, with the Zeiss 12mm. The 18-55 may not be as sharp as the primes, but it's versatility, flexibility and sharpness make me reach for it especially when I don't want to be reaching for lenses -- such as in blowing sand, and salt water. If you got a bad copy, go get yourself a good one. You won't be disappointed!
