  1. The PBR was in town on the weekend so I thought it would be a good time to test out my new X-T2. In reviewing my images, however, none were acceptable. Some things that worked against the camera: - It was an indoor venue so the lighting wasn't best. - Pyrotechnics were used at the beginning and the haze was prevalent throughout the event - Apparently most bulls are black. Most cowboys wear black. Most of the signs in the background are black. In other words, there was a lot of black! This would make it very hard to pick up focus points. Settings: I used the battery grip with boost mode on, - XF55-200mm lens, and my settings were - ISO 12,800, - Aperture f/5.6, - shutter speed 1/640s, - AF-C, - Zone, - full selection of focal points, - AF-C custom was both Accelerating/decelerating objects and ignore obstacles. Conclusion: I believe that the low shutter speed was the culprit as the images of the crowd and other entertainers were fine. I couldn't get the shutter speed up to 1/1000s where it needed to be. In hind sight, I could've tried and then boost exposure in Lightroom. I also could've used my 50-140 but was concerned that the f2.8 would be too narrow a DOF and I wouldn't get both the bull and rider. Also, with the 50-140, battery grip and 3 batteries...it was getting into Nikon weight! It was a good test to learn the limitations of the camera. I think for outdoor rodeos, sports, action, it would work fine. The blackout period between bursts was virtually non-existent and I feel it was grabbing focus fast it was just that even at 12,800 ISO, shutter speed was too low to capture. I still have work to do on my settings and I still require more practice of sports photography but I learned that Bull riding and other rodeo events should be around 1/1000s. Who knew? I've posted some jpgs straight out of the camera with no post done to show you the results. I've also included one of the images of the entertainer to show that it was sharp.
  2. Is there any tpa mounts available for X series cameras that can adapt nikkor lenses ?
  3. Hey All, ON1 just released a major update to Photo Raw 2017 which includes lots of useful features for Fuji X users. Here is my review with a special emphasis on Fuji including the new lens corrections and improved X-Trans processing and other good stuff for us Fujifilm users. Let me know if you read it and what you think. I'm talking with them soon to provide feedback and they have a track record of listening so lemme know! Joel
  4. I am primarily a videographer and I've been absolutely LOVING our XT-2's, but... When we shot Canon, we always popped a Zacuto viewfinder onto our LCD screens to check focus and to shade the screen in bright situations. My current Zacuto setup does work on the XT-2 but it blocks the battery release and, occasionally, it will make the screen go black (really randomly). Anyone else filming regularly who has found a better viewfinder solution? Thanks! Joanna Sample of our work:

I'm graphic designer from Europe, was nikon boy (sorry), now finally bought X-T2 + 35 f/2 and 56 f/1.2 for lifestyle photography, but I'm really interested in food, product photogprahy... I'm looking to buy Elinchrom RX4, some tripods and big one white diffuser for food.. But I saw big problem, Elinchrom EL-Skyport Transmitter Plus don't support Fuji.. Is there any solutions to solve my problem ? Thanks, Jack

  8. Just gathering opinions on this subject. Looking to add a second body in 2016 to compliment my ciurent X Pro-2. For those that have a 2 body setup how important is it to have the same camera? Also, do you believe that the X Pro-2 will receive the same auto focus capabilities in the upcoming Kaizen firmware? I'm not sure why it wouldn't considering the "guts" of the camera are the same, correct? Cheers, Chouska
