The average Fuji customer doesn't shop at Harrod's. That's a ridiculous analogy to throw out there. Can you name a photographer, working or hobbyist who doesn't own multiple systems? No. That line of thought makes no sense and isn't even relevant to the conversation.

I hear you. I know very few people that have 1800 in cash that they can just drop on a dime (this of course is not including working professionals who have a budget for this). It must be nice to have it though. I saved for 18 mos. to buy my X-T1 and that money wasn't used for any holiday spending as it was earmarked for the T1 specifically. That being said, I don't have a purchase planned for the Pro-2 at this time as I'm still fleshing out my kit. Once I do that, I'll add a second body, but the jury is out as to which one it will be at the moment.

I don't know about that. I think they had to already have had the X10 and Pro1 planned when they announced the 100, but I don't think they had a clue as to how it would be received. However the X100 did save Fuji's digital camera division. Before the release of the X100 it was just the S5 DSLR which was released 2007 (see the pattern). From what I heard about that year at Photokina, they pretty much were the talk of the show... Here is an article I found on Petapixel about the X-Series. http://petapixel.com/2014/01/29/x-factor-fujifilm-x-series-changed-company-industry/

The X-Pro2 is not an impulse buy, so releasing it in January would not hurt sales. Those that are getting one, aren't going to spend that money on something else. Announcing it and releasing it are two different things. No matter when, where or how they are announce it, the photography industry will give them a lot of press. naturally if it was released at Photoplus, it might get less off the top, when next to Leica's SL or something. This seems to be why they do it outside of electronic shows or industry trade shows. The X100 was huge which is why I'm guessing it was at Photokina. It was sort of their rebirth as it were since everything up to then was basic consumer level and their pro gear was rapidly aging. The X100 was a completely different look at the professional tool at the time.

By looking at the pattern, my money is on January.

The kit I'm building is 14, 35, 60, (chose this over the 56, but might upgrade it later) with the 100s filling in the 23mm mark. I have all but the 14 (and 100s) right now. I'll hold on to my 18-55 and 55-200 for when I want versatility (although I'd like to exchange the 18-55 for the 16-55, and the 55-200 for the 50-140).

wedding shoot, recommendation needed for focus settings
CRAusmus replied to shane's topic in General Discussion
If you're a wedding photographer using the X-Series Cameras and you aren't following the wonderful work of this guy.... Well, you're a fool...and you should fix that right now... http://f16.click/gear/shooting-a-wedding-with-fujifilm-x-series.html It's Kevin Mullins by the way... -
This is what I was hoping for from this lens too as well. And the price is really sweet...

Hamburgcam mentioned that he's been invited to try a new camera next week. When I mentioned my excitement that it could be the X-Pro2, he simply replied "I didn't say Fuji ;)", which makes me even more excited. Of course it could all be for nought. Might just be the Leica Q or the new SL or something we have no interest in at all... One can dream though... Edit: In continuing the conversation, I'm lead to believe it is the Q. Darn....

I think the Olympus are very nice too. I think, like you that these cameras are all very close to the same. You may have a few modes or controls that you don't get with other, or one may be rated with a higher IP rating, but if you're not diving, and you are happy with your results you have now, then I'd just stay where you are. I think it would be cool though if Fuji made something like the AW1 that Nikon makes. A camera that one of the most extreme photographers I know of uses on a regular basis and absolutely loves. An interchangeable lens camera that has IP rating, at or near the AW1 by Nikon, would be so awesome to have by Fuji.

The 35 or the 56 would be my suggestion. If you want a cheaper way out, you could snag the 60. I just picked one up, but haven't had a ton of time with it yet, but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be a wonderful portrait lens. I've shot a few street portraits with the 35 and it is by and far the lens that I reach for time and time again. The size, the character, I just love it...In my opinion it is the must own Fuji lens for every X Photographer. The ƒ2.o should be wonderful as well if you can wait until next year...

I think this will definitely be on my purchase list. After I get either the 14 or 16 of course. As much as I love the ƒ1.4, I can't see any reason I wouldn't positively love this lens just as much or more.

The more I see, and read, of this lens the more I like it.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why they chose to test the X-T1 with the 55-200 instead of the comparable 50-140. It is the lens that is the highest quality and the most comparable to the other lenses tested on the other bodies. Do any of you feel that the 50-140 would have allowed the X-T1 score higher? Edit: Nevermind. The information I'm finding is that the 50-140 was introduced in November of '14 and this video was published in May '14. That explains why they didn't use it, but in my opinion, it also drastically changes the outcome for Fuji with all the firmware upgrades since then...

I would say a lot of times yes. Although it does depend on what you are shooting, you can't force one machine to work like another. You have to learn to use the Fuji they way it is designed to be used, and not the way a Nikon is. I think that is where a lot of the problems come from. There are many, many pros out there using nothing but Fuji, and they are not saying it isn't up to the task. Obviously, it is exclusively what they are using, and it's what's paying their bills...

Another thought on the X-Pro 2
CRAusmus replied to benjaminthomson's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Considering the success of the 100t, I'd have to agree that the X-Pro 2 will most likely have the HVF. Which is a bonus. However I really like the VF on the S and Pro1 better. But that's just a personal preference really. You can just use the OVF instead and get the benefits of the HVF when you want it. -
Yes...

He's referring to isolated incidents some members of this forum have experienced Cy_J. Outside of this forum, I haven't heard anything negative about the Fuji cameras...

Size Comparison: XF35mmF2 Vs. XF35mmF1.4
CRAusmus replied to Patrick FR's topic in Fuji X Rumors & News
Or they just put it on their newest body that they released...The X-T10. Clearly with it being WR, it's designed to go with a new offering (WR X-Pro2/X-T2?) or the existing WR offering X-T1.
