  1. Looking at my shelf, Fujifilm cameras fit right in with my old 135 format cameras. Nikon FM2, Hasselblad Xpan,... It's the perfect blend of portability while delivering more than adequate image quality. Looking at FF dlsr's, they will probably remain the go to workhorse for sports shooters and people who need durability above anything else. And with the ultra high megapixel bodies these days, they have basically taken the role that 120 format used to fill. With the size and weight downside that medium format used to have versus 135 shooting. Sony FF with it' s big lenses, reminds me most of the 120 format cams for slower paced work. Like my Mamiya 6 or my Hasselblad 503CW. Great cams, but not the ones I tend to take for everyday work...
  2. I travel daily with an X-T1, 56 1.2 and an X100T. For travel, less is more. I own the 50-140, forget about that one. Way too big for travel.
  3. This, apparently. All that needs to be said on the matter... Go out, take pictures. That should do.
  4. Beautiful work! I'm a fan
  5. No, they should not make it, and second, my x100t already is scuffed enough. It's not pretty. Below the metal top, is white plastic. Not what I'd call sexy ;-) if they should change anything, it's the layer underneath to look good once the top wears out.
  6. I go and have a drink. In an emergency, under my jacket/sweater/tshirt.
  7. Not really, but I did miss focus ever so slightly on two of them. F1.2 or thereabouts will do that for you, shooting handheld and natural light only at minimum focus distance on an overcast day in a dark room. Also, jpeg compression doesn't help. Full res versions are mostly crazy sharp. I tend not to sharpen that much, most pics nowadays are way oversharpened, and then people complain and say they look "digital" I don't care if one or two are not as sharp, as long as it's acceptable. I shoot film half the time, so I can live without crazy sharpness anyway. And thanks :)
  8. Lots of X-Pro 1's are hitting the second hand market at very low prices. If you don't need fast autofocus, that's still a great option. Or an X-E1 too. Anything with the second generation sensor is still rather pricey at this point.
  9. If you want that vintage/film look, best solution is to shoot film. I shoot film for fun, digital for the convenience. If you want a unique colouring, you can do nearly anything in post, though it's always hard to simulate real film. Film and digital will always look different. If you like how a certain lens renders, well, then there's the http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/forum/6-adapting-lenses-to-fuji-x/ part of the forum where they'll answer all of your questions.
  10. I only have four: 16 1.4, x100t, 56 1.2 and 50-140. I don't really need the 50-140 to be honest, it's mostly a backup. Don't need anything else.
  11. Barcelona, last night. Ever so slightly blurry due to slow shutter speed. X100T & TCL.
  12. Thanks Patrick, will do. Somewhere over Europe, don't recall where. X100T & TCL.
  13. Just because you're paranoid, does not mean they're not after you Lol. OP, please I think thiswayup nailed your answer.
  14. I never said that privacy isn't needed. Quite the opposite. I'm also a big fan of Naomi Klein's writing, and I couldn't agree more. And yes, Apple is very right to worry about setting precedents when it comes to security. Still, to think that someone would be interested in following you around, have the right app ready for that fraction of a moment when they might intercept your files, is just being plain paranoid. If they want your files, I'm sure they can hack your computer/table/phone with far less trouble Or they'll just steal your camera.
  15. Good option to work on skin for people who only own Lightroom. Lightroom is mediocre at best for skin work. This greatly increases your possibilities.
  16. While I agree with all of the above, I have to add the following: nobody really cares about your stuff Also, using a government controlled mail service isn't really a bulletproof plan either. Hilarious though Yes, 1984 is real. Has been since the early 2000's... Sorry to be blunt. But people who really want to get something from you, will. Others, couldn't give a damn. I see people placing huge watermarks on their pictures all the time. What good has that ever done? People who want to steal your pics, still will. But 99% of the time, people don't cary anyway. That's the sad truth.
  17. Jup, main reason why I gave up my Olympus and switched to Fuji... Skin tones are nearly always great straight out of camera. Unless you are shooting under mixed tungsten/fluorescent light. And every camera struggles in those conditions.
  18. Dfine in itself is worth getting this package, still today. It may not be class leading anymore, but for people on a budget, free is always good. And for people who only have Lightroom, this adds a brilliant retouching option for portraits that would otherwise require Photoshop.
  19. For everyone interested, used to be quite expensive. https://www.google.com/nikcollection/
  20. N'oubliez pas, diesel pour les Fuji's, Euro 95 pour les Sony's. ;-)
  21. I'd love for some people to actually show images of what they were able to make with all those megapixels, that would have been impossible to achieve with a "lesser" camera, and that isn't down to technique, skill level, lighting, location, emotion, or any other factor apart from iso, sharpness and resolution for that matter... We all know Fuji isn't the best focussing camera out there, so I'll give you that one. I like the "measurebating" expression I read in another topic. It mostly comes down to that. Like the cyclists bragging how their carbon bikes have a 20 gram weight loss thanks to some upgrade or another. Forgetting of course the fact that they're dragging their 25kg middle age beer gut around on that same bike...
  22. I use this one, albeit previous generation. Works just fine. http://www.cameranu.nl/nl/p696485/datacolor-spyder-5-pro
  23. A Ferrari also looks like a better car than my humble Ford Mondeo, on paper at least. Faster, bigger engine, prettier, ... Yes, pricier too, but hey, the specs look nicer! Does that mean I actually 'need' one for my daily commute? Nope, not really. Would it get me there faster? Nope, not really. I still have to follow traffic rules and congestion anyway... Perhaps a day or two a year I get to take it to a track, where it would humiliate cheaper cars. But for day to day use, I'll take the Ford. Fraction of the cost, if it breaks, it breaks, no big loss. And most of all, just as good for my daily use and probably even more practical to use. Go out, take pictures. Almost every serious camera these days will do that for you, Fuji or otherwise. If you're into specs and bragging rights, all fine and dandy. Just don't call it photography.
  24. Phil's shots seem accurate enough. Maybe two that are slightly off, but those are very pale people with light hair, people who are prone to blushing and may well have been at the time of the shot. Actually, on my calibrated monitor, your first one seems the most accurate depiction of colours. Second one seems too yellow, white balance is off in my view. It may seem more pleasing, but I doubt it's more accurate. Velvia is really not meant for portraits. Try Classic Chrome if you want that muted look. Or shoot Pro Neg STD for reference. I find Fuji auto wb works really well in most circumstances, far better than my old Canon used to anyway. I rarely have to adjust wb after shooting.
  25. Lieze X-T1, 56 1.2 APD
