  1. I'm happy to report that my friend Dave the Cat is regrowing fur on the site of his injury, just below his left ear! X-H1 + 35mm 1.4 @ 1/50 f5.6 ISO800
  2. I’m only guessing but has it a result of flouresent lighting and the ES interacting?
  3. My sympathies to you this should not happen to a brand new camera!
  4. Nice one George, I talk is a bit east and a lot south, looking at the blue sky’s on show and I bet that snow is nicer than the stuff I’m getting.
  5. I realise that many of you who experience really snowy and cold weather will laughing at my self, but I really wish this Beast From the East would clear off back to where it came from. I'm not a fan of 0oC temperature and I am dreading tomorrow when this stuff freezes and I have to venture out trying like mad to to stay vertical. X-H1 + 35mm 1.4 @ 1/80 f5.6 ISO 200
  6. It would seem that your X-H1 is not recognising that battery as a genuine NPW-126s!
  7. As you say dfaye, a minor irritation on a superb machine!
  8. According to Fuji UK support it is a power saving feature! It is I’m afraid disingenuous of Fuji to act as a big brother and not give me the opportunity to turn this feature off, after all there is some control of the power down facility from 5 minutes to off, Fuji why not for the VF + LCD system. From my viewpoint get rid of it altogether!!! Hopefully some Fuji person will take notice!
  9. An annoying feature of the new wonder machine is “Power Saving Mode” in that when using the LCD or EVF in normal mode after about 10-15 seconds of viewing but otherwise inactivity, the EVF and LCD go into power saving mode and the refresh rate is halved and the view becomes a bit jittery and jerky as the screens then struggle to keep the smoothness of the usual operation! Press a the shutter halfway or the back focus button and the smooth operation returns for a short while Apparently this is a feature not a fault as Fuji UK support informed me! also this feature happens on the X-T2 as well, this phenomenon doesn’t happen in boost mode. Fuji UK promised to pass on my comments to Japan. I never noticed this on my X-T2! Hopefully a firmware update will give the opportunity to switch this feature off.
  10. So you’ll condemn the X-H1 because of one persons experience, now that is weird!
  11. Rand, I find myself in total agreement with you. Although I haven’t used the new Eterna film sim yet! I too worried about the EC dial, but as you say the new EC system is a doddle to use although I’m not a big user of EC. Also I fretted over reports about the shutter button action, but no sweat I like it. The new hand grip is great and fits my hand superbly, obviously it doesn’t but the camera seems to be shrinking as I use it more, oh how soon we forget!

What are the dogs names, it’s always nice to know who we are looking at? The pale one looks like a Springer Spaniel?
  13. Having just done a very non-scientific test, I can not discern any difference in the shutter sound in either vertical or landscape orientations!

The dog at the table is sooooo funny!
  15. Cale33, no you can set the EC button as an on/off switch, so that from then on it stays selected until the button is pressed again! On my X-H1 it’s the rear dial that does the selecting of EC also the EC can be switched with the control dial, sounds complicated but in reality it’s not, also it stays selected when the camera is switched off! Hope that helps. I like this method over the EC dial as on the X-T2! I’ve never ever bought a camera that didn’t come with a hot shoe cover! In the U.K. Fuji sell replacements or if you moan a lot will give you one for free.
  16. Oh dear I just couldn’t resist it and a brand new Fujifilm X-H1 rocked up to my door. Initial impressions are are that yes the extra five ounces can be noticed but not detrimentally. Focusing is quite a bit faster, shutter sound much more subtle, IBIS does make a difference! Can communicate via Bluetooth or Wireless for remote operation and downloading images to an iPhone. The new grip shape is very good and feels much better and secure even in my small hands. Operation feels very slick and the shutter button is quite sensitive but not overly so, a different feel so there is muscle memory to retrain! Same battery as the X-T2(126s) the 126 won’t work in the X-H1 or I believe look-a-like batteries either! There is also a touch screen facility but I not tried that out as yet! The loss of the EC wheel I’ve found to be no loss as the EC button can act as a switch so EC is a doddle to set without the need of holding down the button and turning! The new style on/off switch is much more robust and positive in action, much less wish washy. Mostly there is a familiar feel to the rear panel, but it is a bit different. Finally for this short rundown the X-H1 feels a lot more robust than an X-T2. regards Mike
  17. I reckon the picture answers your question as a negative, stick with the Hadley Digital!
  18. I don’t understand the soppy shoulder lcd, why?
  19. Merlin, I would agree, I was just guessing what Fuji might say, a Mk 11 version is really needed, but Fuji don’t seem keen on doing that sort of exercise, which is a pity?
  20. Fuji would I expect say that the 18-135 is their version!
  21. If the bugs and creepy crawlies don’t convince you nothing will! Nice ones Mike.
  22. I used a uv light cured glue sold by the JML company which was bought at a Wilkinson’s shop near me, and believe you me it isn’t going to fail as the join is stronger than the original plastic rear cap!
  23. Bob, then you will definitely need your warm coat if you are on your way soonish! This morning the temp is 4C with an expected high of 7C
  24. Bob, it ain’t gonna be anywhere near 29 degrees Fahrenheit I presume you mean, you will need to keep your warm coat on!, and it will probably be raining at some time. It will be slightly warmer here maybe 7-8 degrees C. My biggest beef with Nikon is their viewfinders, very inadequate eye relief! And the weight of course!
  25. When adopting a new system, I reckon it’s bad practice to compare the new with the old. It will only lead to frustration when you do! When Nikon and I divorced it was a clean break, but the learning curve for the new Fuji gear was very enjoyable.
