  1. Ya, we need to watch the speeds posted on SD cards as it it typically the READ speed they post, no the WRITE speed. So you may purchase a card that says it is 80mb/s but in fact that is READ when the WRITE may be 40mb/s. I use the Sandisk 95mb/s READ which has a 90mb/s WRITE ... they cost a little more but prevent any issues.
  2. I see on the B&H site that the new iNissin i60A is scheduled for release week of Sept 19th. Anyone on this forum know if it will give TTL on the new XT2? Since the i40A does not give me TTL on my new XT2 ... I'm searching.
  3. I too noticed my XT2 LCD acting up a little. When out using it recently I found that sometimes the LCD would go into a kind of slow-motion when the camera was sitting at my hip as I walk around. I have the camera to go to sleep at the 5min mark of not being used. So this happens (I think) after a couple of minutes of no use. Only happened a few times. I found tapping the shutter release button seemed to snap it back to where it should be. Rather odd.
  4. Yes, I have the 50-140/2.8 and it can be noisy with its humming and clunking. But it's not an issue for most. I have used it in a quiet church during ceremony but only I hear it because it is by my head when I engage the auto-focus and VR. People notice the shutter sound when taking pic's more than the humming and clunking it makes when being used. I find the shutter to be quite quiet compared to my old Nikon full frame kit. And the shutter sounds are normal for a photographer working through a wedding ceremony, so no one gives it a second glance. LOL ... I'm more concerned of the floor creaking (commonly does when it is very quiet in a church) when I walk around than my gear making noise.
  5. I used the XT2 a fair amount at my last weekends wedding and it did not get warm. This was a causal mix of stills and video as I used it along with my XT1. During the reception I setup the XT2 on a tripod with a boom mic and recorded video of all the speeches. Longest speech was 13min ... so that was continual video recording. I did not have the new S battery in the camera (it was already exhausted and I was onto either the old original battery or the Watson aftermarket battery ... I can't recall). All video was 1080p 30fps. I had to switch the memory card when that speech was over and noticed the memory card was warm. But the body felt fine. I'd expect almost any small compact camera that is shooting video for a period of time to get a bit warm, so this seemed pretty normal to me.
  6. I have the metal grip for my XT1 and keep it on the camera all the time for the same reason Pete said. My adult male hand is a little too big and the pinky finger is uncomfortable. I do however use my vertical grip all the time when I shoot weddings (my primary reason for having the cameras). But when not working with my gear (personal stuff), the metal grip is great. I've ordered both grips for my new XT2 and should have them next week. I used the XT2 last weekend at a wedding and without the extra metal grip (or vertical battery grip), it wasn't nearly as comfortable to use hour after hour. But I managed.
  7. For what they charge for that grip ... IT SHOULD! I have ordered mine and at $500 Canadian (taxes in) ... it is by far the most expensive vertical grip I have purchased.
  8. Hi Pete. The digital noise I hear ... what you say makes sense. But the flicker I notice on the LCD's ... I should not see that. Aswald ... I wondered the same. This is the only issue I've noticed. My other comments were just observations (such as finding out that the iNissin flash doesn't work on the XT2). If possible, I'll re-apply firmware to the lens and wait for the next Firmware update for the XT2. Should the issue still exist, I'll make a trip to where I purchased the camera and test my lens on another body. That will tell me if it is lens or body. I hope the firmware updates correct the LCD flicker as I've been very happy with that lens on my XT1 the past 2 years.
  9. When I have the 35/1.4 on my new XT2 there is a slight digital humming sound coming from the lens when I gently shake the camera. I noticed it when I was simply moving the camera in a quiet room. It is as if the autofocus is slightly engaged for just a brief moment. Very odd that it happens when I gentle shake the camera. And no ... I do not have pre-focus turned on. This does not happen with another lens nor when the 35/1.4 is on my XT1. Also .. I have noticed when I have the 35/1.4 on my XT2 that there is an LCD anomaly that happens right after the focus has locked. The anomaly happens on both EVF and LCD. What happens is after focus is locked both of the LCD's will give a kind of 'stutter' where it very quickly fades in and out ... for approx 1.5 seconds. It is quite noticeable. I thought it may be low battery but that isn't the case. This only happens with the 35/1.4 on my XT2. I was thinking (or hoping) this is a known glitch and a lens firmware update may resolve it. ???
  10. Haven't experienced that myself but will see how things go in time. It makes sense that the piece you are referring to would be the weak link. I thought that the first time I looked at it.
  11. Ya, I wish I could put it on the Q menu as well.
  12. Maybe I needed to keep my battery in the new XT2 longer to charge the internal clock battery .... but I synced my XT1 and the new XT2 a day before I had my first wedding with the XT2 but found out after the wedding the XT2 clock had slipped by almost 5 minutes! Anyone else experience this? Anyone else able to confirm that a charged battery needs to stay in the XT2 for a certain length of time before the internal clock is reliable?
  13. I believe when I use to shoot Nikon full frame and dual card slots, it did the same thing. I would have to switch to the 2nd card and delete it a second time.
  14. Great tip. Thanks!
  15. Well this sucks. When the new Fuji 500 flash comes out I expect a firmware update for the XT1. I may not apply it if I learn it breaks the iNissin.
  16. I shot approx 40 min of footage (in total) yesterday at my first XT2 wedding. Video was flawless. Still shot a bit of vid with XT1, but favoured the XT2 for most of the video work. The cards I use are Sandisk 80mb/s and Sandisk 95mb/s. All video was 1080p 30fps. At home I played a little with 4K but didn't shoot more than a 20 second piece. That worked OK as well. You can direct video to either SD slot 1 or 2. Try a different slot or maybe a faster card. If all fails, I'd return the camera.
  17. My mistake. Even though the the symbol on the metering dial is the same, on the XT2 it is centre weight when on the XT1 it is Multi. On the XT2, Multi is a different symbol. So I wasn't comparing apples-to-apples. I'll have to test a bit more but I expect in time, knowing this my exposure between the two will be more consistent.
  18. Shot a wedding today with XT1 and XT2. Both cameras set to centre weight metering. I found for the exact same scene the XT2 would underexpose again and again by approx 1/2 stop when the XT1 would nail the exposure. Has anyone else noticed the XT2 seems to under expose some of the time (maybe they are scenes where there are bright highlights and the XT2 favours the highlights more than the XT1)?
  19. Tried using the iNissin 40 in TTL on my next XT2 tonight and found a problem. Even though I had the flash set to TTL and the camera flash menu set to TTL, the flash would fire but at a very low output and not do proper TTL. I had to put it back on my XT1 to keep going as an on camera TTL should. I've been using the iNissin on my XT1 for 2 years now, so am familiar with it. Anyone else experience this on the XT2?
  20. Because the new sensor/processor does such a good job with video, it is reasonable to start seeing them decked out as a video camera. People that want the Fuji film modes applied while they shoot video will certainly be drawn to it for video work. Some will be drawn to it because on Canon and Nikon in their APS-C bodies, a person cannot get the same lens/focal length selection that Fuji offers. As we know well ... Fuji platform has been a still camera platform. But with the new X-Trans III .. that may start to change. I'm looking forward to seeing what talented video people can do with the camera.
  21. You can set the buttons to either lock/engage and stay locked/engaged when you briefly press and release the button ... then press it again and it unlocks/dis-engages. Or you can set it that it is only locked/engaged when you press and hold the button in. I prefer the latter one. I like it to only engage when I'm pressing the button. You can set it to do one or the other. Just like on the XT-1. Look at Page 91 in the manual (English manual).
  22. If the Adobe CC isn't your cup-of-tea ... I'd recommend purchasing Adobe Premiere Elements. http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere-elements.html
  23. I met with a Fuji rep yesterday when I picked up my XT2. I thought he said it had wired tethering capability with wireless coming later on. But I could be mistaken as I don't have a need for tethering in the work I do, so I wasn't closely listening to the tethering conversation. I believe you will see info on this via this page -> http://www.fujifilm.com/news/n160707_01.html Just do a search for 'tethering'.
