  1. Hello! My name is Chris, aged 52, general IT- and bike-nerd. I discovered photography when I was about 15 yo and found my great-grandfathers Rolleiflex and my mothers old Kodak. Later I bought Ricoh KR-10M that got stolen. Lucky insured me was then able to buy a Nikon F3HP, which later led to having my own darkroom. Cue forward a few years, when I started to work, the wonderful hobby slowly was forgotten. Not completely, but only for the sake of point and shoot compact cameras. The last one actually was a Fujifilm X20. Last year I bought a Sony alpha 7C but have to admit that I am not completely happy with it. My significant other made me go through a lot of questions what I really want and/or need, but I just bought an X-T3 anyway. And maybe even an X-Pro 3 in the not too distant future.
  2. Hi, I'm David and I'm based in South Wales. I started out as a photographer back in the 80s, ran a photography gallery for many years, then ended up working in digital and internet art for a long while. I came back to photography about 15 years ago using digital Nikons (my first camera way back was an Olympus OM 1 but I then switched to Nikons alongside medium format cameras back in the days of film). However, I recently switched to Fuji x after borrowing a friend's camera and being really impressed with both the usability and, more importantly, the images - they just looked so good. No going back now! I shoot mainly portrait, art projects and occasionally landscape. You can see some of my work on my website http://www.xox.org.uk
  3. Hello. My name is Paul. I was a news photographer from 15 July 1975 onwards, working in various places until 1997, when I abandoned the trade and stopped taking photographs. In 2011 I picked up a camera again, after a break of 14 years. It was a sweet and sour experience, with many ghosts. I mainly use an X100s, and I shoot in JPEG B/W. By choice, and not because I think it's right or wrong, I do not crop, straighten or use Photoshop. I do use Silver Efex Pro 2 to adjust contrast, where necessary. I have been given a permanent mono-author exhibition of my street photography in the centre of Milan, Italy, just a few paces from the Duomo, which has now seen in excess of 700,000 people pass through it in its first year. EXPO 2015 has probably helped a little. It's worth a visit. I have managed to produce around 200 usable street images annually since I returned to photography in 2011, and my work has been exhibited many times in Italy in recent years. I'm not sure how long I will continue taking photographs, as I really only returned out of curiosity, to understand what "digital" was like. Curiosity can be dangerous On 15 July this year, 2015, I will celebrate 40 years since I entered the trade. It seems such a long time ago, and technology has changed so much. I wish I'd had the low-light capabilities of modern digital back in the 70s, 80s and 90s. If you are interested, you can read a bit more on the various pages of the website below: http://www.streetphotography.international

  6. Hi All, I'm an ex-Brit who somehow landed in the Bahamas 17 years ago. First picked up a camera in 2007, and rapidly found myself being booked as a wedding and portrait photographer. No formal training, and living on a 22 mile x 7 mile rock means there's no groups, stores or learning resources here other than the internet, so I, and my work, am a product of experimentation. April 2014 I ditched my two Canon 5D Mk IIIs and made the move to a pair of X-T1s. Haven't looked back. Still shooting weddings and portraits/families, but also a fair amount of studio based product photography, a little bit of boudoir and, when I have to or the money's right, a little bit of real estate/architectural, though I find little joy in shooting anything without people in it.
  7. Hi everybody, My name is Arthur. I am a retired engineer living with my wife and my dog In a small California town 22 miles north of San Francisco. I've had this photo hobby from the times immemorial, since my dad gave me a film camera for my 11th birthday. I'm 79 now and after having gone through multiple brands shoot these days mostly with Nikon D750. However its getting increasingly difficult to lag around the bag filled with Nikon stuff, so after long considerations I preordered Fujifilm X-T20 - right after it's been announced. Now, as the song goes, when the saints go marchin in I want to be in their number. That's my story. You may see samples of my photos on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/arthurkalmeyer/.
  8. New Fuji user here but I've been a full time photographer for the last 15 years. Just picked up the X-T4 and a couple f/2 crons. Really happy with the system so far but I really enjoy mounting vintage glass to the body. The results are stunning.
  9. Hello everyone, I'm from Slovenia. After 15 years with Canon i switched to Fuji and i won't go back! I mostly do travel, street and landscape photography. I use fuji Xe-1 with fuji 18-55, Samyang 12 and sometimes old minolta 50-200 lenses. And with this year trip to India i started my photo blog, you can see it here. Cheers to all!
  10. I’m in Perth and hoping to have more time to get out soon, locally though, going on flexi-furlough! Can’t wait for travel to be allowed again, aiming to get to Iceland, Prague and the Outer Hebrides this year! Just picked up a 15-45mm lens on Ebay for next to nothing, so far it seems really surprisingly sharp (when used between 23-35mm and around f/8!)
  11. Hi, I'm Paulo, from Portugal. 2 months ago, I decide to change from Canon DSLR system ( 5 years of use ) to Fuji X ( X-T1 ). Currently own one X-T1 and an 35 mm 1.4R. Working to get 16-50 2.8 and a 55-200 ( depending on Canon sales ). One of main propose of change is to get life "easier" on handling and pos-edition. With Canon I start to get tired to travel with an 7D, 10-22, 24-105, etc... In the same way I was spending to much time working on RAW files, even for passionate photos. I work with stock agencies ( beginner level ), and have done small works ( motorized sports ). So far I'm impressed with JPG quaility, Easy Handling and EVF of X-T1. Lastly, my English isn't the greatest. I read/translate it very well, but still having some issues writing it.
  12. Representing the San Francisco Bay Area, I started at an early age on a gifted Canon AE-1 and was hooked for life. Since then, traveled from film to digital to film and back again. Old rangefinders are still my #1. Alas, the cost of lab and home developing pushed me to digital in the early 2000's, and I bought the og Canon 300D (2003?!). Forayed in various canon gear, until the X-E1 came out and was just blown away with the design (did I mentioned I love old rangefinders) and SOOC capabilities. Throw in weight savings and access to great glass and I immediately divested in Canon (no regrets). Shooting digital has always made me yearn for film and I still shoot a Leica M6 and Ricoh GR1v from time to time when the budget allows for it. My current kit is an X-T1 with 18-55 attached (14 and 23 in the bag) and a Sony A7 with a v2 35mm summicron (Jupiter 8 in the bag) Shooting experience: 15+ years Favorite focal length: 35mm Favorite fuji lens: 23mm f/1.4 (14mm very close second) Favorite subject matter: street, travel Currently trying to master: off camera lighting/flash
  13. Hello, everyone, my name is Kevin. I just picked up a new X-T4 with the 18-55 and got a few other goodies to go with it. I have a 23 and 35 F2 lenses coming in soon. My plan is to start doing bushcraft adventures and record and photograph my adventures. I have been into photography since I was little. I remember using the first paycheck from my first job to buy a used pentax which I still have. My first digital was an Olympus E-volt 510. Nice camera when it came out and it still takes nice pictures, but I need something more. Fuji seems to make the best hardware out there so since its been 15 years since I bought a camera its time for a switch. Looking forward to learning how to use a camera again (it has sadly been a while since I pulled one out) and learning to do video now as well as editing afterwards. Now to just get over the intimidation factor and get shooting right?

  17. HI all, I am wondering if there has been improvements in this area when shooting directly into the sun at smaller apertures? I think this is true for most mirrorless cameras, BTW, as I've seen it with my Sony A7 as well. Though Sony apparently tried to address this issue more in their newer models. While all mirrorless and even some DSLRs may suffer from this to varying degrees, I think some exhibit these artifacts more severely than others. Here is an example from Fuji X-E1 @ f/22: Here is the article describing the problem: https://photographylife.com/fuji-x-trans-flare-ghosting-issue Anyone test this with their newer Fujis like the X-Pro2? The reason I ask is that I enjoy shooting into the sun. Here is a shot I took with my Canon 5DII @ f/22 which handled direct sunlight much better than my Sony A7: -- Thanks, Derek
  18. I wonder if Horsie-blad is aware of this "problem". Doesn't look like much of a flange distance to me. https://www.engadget.com/2016/06/22/hasselblad-x1d/ Pic taken off the same site.
  19. Milky Way in May... This is equivalent to a just-a-touch-over 15 minutes exposure. Milky Way season is underway, and locally, the Milky Way is starting to rotate from landscape mode to portrait mode (it should be fully rotated to vertical in about a month, give or take a few days). On the right side, in this image, the Scorpius Constellation is rising. Antares is the big yellow-red star in Scorpius. https://earthsky.org/constellations/scorpius-heres-your-constellation/ https://www.constellation-guide.com/constellation-list/scorpius-constellation/ I hope to be able to post a version that is more centered on the constellation.
  20. Scorpius with some Milk(y Way) on the side... This image is also the equivalent of just over 15 minutes exposure. A lot of passing clouds got into this one, but they opened up for the constellation.
