  1. I shoot with a D600 and D750. I also shoot Canons and Fujifilm. I agree with Jigesh that these produce better images than the X-T1 or T2. Nikon glass renders beautiful colors and images. Has more "depth" to it. Also, I find that Nikon lenses suffer less from what modern lenses may suffer from. "Sterile" pictures. In today's quest for impeccable sharpness and edge to edge performance, we seem to be trading artistic render for MTF charts. But I digress.... http://www.thephoblographer.com/2016/10/26/sterile-look-problems-camera-lenses-good/
  2. Thanks for the reference to Kodak Retina. Learn something new... I thought about them being fiddly but didn't think dust would be a problem. On second thoughts......you may be right. Kick Starter can be tough. I've seen some pretty amazingly weird stuff. Still, some are funded.
  3. Steve Jobs...then we'll have to pay Apple prices! You may be right in your notion about them giving SONY the look away. I'm not sure how they feel currently but a year or so ago, the impression I got is that they don't consider themselves at par with SONY. That they were a much smaller outfit compared to the big boys. But I get your gist about Fujifilm coming to terms with market competitiveness and to innovate in order to survive with innovative offerings. In that, I fully agree. I hope their expansion plans which they spoke of then has worked out with capacity to work on new offerings. Their next "high end" and "no holds barred" X camera will be a turning point......or not.
  4. Not everyone is against you. I agree with what you are saying. You're on point about the lack of flash support. I use the Cactus V6ii and it's still touch and go on a lot of occasions. For this reason alone, I've stop investing in Fujifilm, shoot for leisure and only certain paid work. Still rely on all my Canon for the latter. About making mistakes that'll sink the titanic, the age of internet will make it sink even faster. Like you, I hope Fujifilm innovates quickly. The initial awe is wearing out in most people. And yes, SONY is picking up a strong fan base. I've been following their progress since the R1XR.
  5. Perhaps. It was the x100 and Pro1 pictures which wowed photographers. But like some things, people start to want this and that after they've jumped onto the band wagon. That's why the Fujifilm cameras are becoming more and more like "dslr". Can't stop change I suppose.
  6. Keep spare batteries close to your body.
  7. The content and composition of a photograph is always the one to catch my eye and make me look twice. Better yet if it comes with technical excellence. It's easy to forget this in the hustle and bustle of the modern day transfixation on speed, resolution and new technology.
  8. Pro1 pics has always been "softer" than the Pro2. Pro2's pic is more "dslr" like in nature. If there is such a thing. You can get close to Pro1 with your Pro2 is you shoot slightly over exposed or a slight ETTR method, lower contrast and saturation. Lighten shadows one notch. You may try to bump up the sharpness one notch. It gets quite close.
  9. The lighting and the blue sky in the catch eye really shows it was a nice day. At this point, I'm only shooting manual lenses when it's not a paid job. And yes, I love the calculated manual process. Everything is deliberated and thought off. Ironically, I learn more this way. What was it they say with AF, "spray and pray"?
  10. Haha....yeah. Never really took off though. I used to spend hours and days looking at the classifieds at the back of comic books. https://themagicrobot.wordpress.com/category/red-comet/
  11. This is on Kickstarter. Looks interesting.... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lomography/the-neptune-convertible-art-lens-system?ref=NewsDTMay1117
  12. My wishes are popular! Thanks for the great write up and summary.
  13. The x-pro2 graphite version is beautiful beyond words and especially pleasing to the touch. When using it, it feels like a "different" camera. Funny but true....doesn't make sense at all but I'm tempted.
  14. Steve Huff may be on track after all. Looks very promising. Only issue so far is the write speed. Takes a while to clear buffer but as Kai observed, you can still continue shooting while it writes. Just can't access the menu. I can see great potential for photographers who need this kind of speed. Definitely a game changer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8swlslWVvo
  15. I think this may be a typical shoot-straight-into-the-sun Fujifilm sensor issue. Doesn't happen all the time but happens at certain scenarios. Are all the shots like these?
  16. Glad to hear that. I'm using Nisi almost exclusively nowadays. For a cheaper alternative, Haida is the one to go for.
  17. Wait for the marl ii. I have the mark 1 and only use it if I absolutely need the focal length.
  18. The a9 is currently the "ultimate" camera in the world now sans resolution. Exciting times.......I like it already. Not the price tag. With that kind of spec, photojournalists may be turning heads. Let's hope SONY didn't forget their extreme weather sealing and military spec. titanium body as they'll probably see lots of real world snapshots at places with lots of human conflict. Failing that, it'll be the ultimate F1 race track body to go for.....if you can also afford the "up coming" G Master 800mm lenses. However, the real difference it will make is when they trickle down their stacked CMOS / on chip processing, 20fps technology to their more affordable cameras...a7iii?
  19. 56 and 90 has the best bokeh. The 90 probably has the best picture iq of all the xf lenses. In that respect, I couldn't fault the lens at all.
  20. Thanks for reigning me back on track. Luckily, the rrp for the 60 is still cheaper than the 50.
