  1. Interesting times in photography! After shooting years of client based photographs, any form of classical/artistic photography is a much needed welcome.
  2. You answered my curiosity spot on. Thanks. I'm looking at the Petzval and may buy one sometime later. It's definitely not a lens for everyone. But I love the classics and everything "old".....and no, when you have a lens like this, the last thing you want to do is rush through the process. It's like a date with a rather lovely lady......you'd want it to take it slow and make it last.
  3. Try Nisi or Haida. The color cast is either minimal or easier to control. I use both. Haida is more affordable. I've tried SinghRay, LEE, Cokin, Athabasca, Marumi, Kenko and some which I can't recall. I find that both Nisi and Haida are my go to filters nowadays....
  4. Interesting. Thanks for sharing. Any issues with darkening making it difficult to focus?
  5. Thanks for sharing. I can fix mine too but I'm just curious what Fujifilm will do. We will know what's the real problem is after that. Good to know I guess. The only thing I'm concerned about a diy fix is the weather sealing.
  6. Not yet but I plan to get it to Fujifilm. One reason is to understand what's the problem. Whether it was a design flaw or something else. The other is to find out how they are going to fix it. I'll post my comments thereafter. Only the knob is loose. It doesn't impede function. The diopter stays put. It's been raining, so.....
  7. Yup. Mine wobbled right after I adjusted it. It wasn't wobbling out of the box.
  8. It doesn't look normal to me. I'd recommend sending it back or sending it to Fujifilm to check. Looks like sensor output is off.
  9. On the cheap, 60 f2.8 if you are using t2, pro2 or e2 as bodies. The results is on par with the 56 most times except at closes distance, widest aperture. For the best "realistic", studio grade portraits go for the 90 F2. Go for the 56 f1.2 if you want some creative shots or play with composition and bokeh. I own both the 60 and 56 (both versions) and I still feel the 90 is the most competent portrait lens Fujifilm has made so far. Besides, the 90 is best the lens to give you some working distance for that great street photography portrait.
  10. Check that you are not in advance filter mode. You should be in still mode. There is a short cut to access advance filter mode by pressing "drive" button at the D Pad. Some people accidentally press that without knowing....
  11. Picture IQ wise, Sony's new lenses are fantastic.
  12. You've got a valid point. I guess it makes a difference for photog who wants higher resolution for the exact same picture (i.e. without cropping) to fill up say a small billboard. The Sony would be the way to go.
  13. Do you like big, bulky lenses? If you do, then Sony is the way to go. Otherwise, resolution aside, both system are equally competent.
  14. No play on any of my lenses but the diopter adjuster dial on my Pro2....... ......it's like playing a game of chance with me. Funny thing is, it was tightly fitted before I adjusted it.....
  15. This looks like an issue with the strong light source in the background. Similar to shooting strong backlit subjects. I've had some issues with with sunset backlit portraits even with the Pro2. I suspect most other cameras would have a 50-50 chance of mistracking under similar circumstances. Before Fujifilm I tried SONY a7ii, 7Rii, 7s, OMD E-M1, Leica Q, M, 240 and to be frank, all of these cameras offer some "magic".....if..... you can accept their many other shortfalls. What is the "best" for you would depend on which suite you are willing to live with. For instance, if I can have Leica lenses mated and working well to the Pro2 body, I would do that.
  16. Woah....a wooden veneered Nikon. Just what I was waiting for! I think the many holes for the aperture blade does what an apodization filter does. Lose a bit of exposure but gain a creamier bokeh. It'll be interesting what it'll do in the Petzval.
  17. I think that many aren't aware of this unique feature nowadays. I found this very interesting and the picture coming out of the Petzval is very good with a character which agrees with me. It's a classic. Btw, nice grip. Your T1 is looking too finished for it now. maybe you should "age" it. 4000 grit?
  18. Need to factor this into observation. People usually post when they have an issue. While 16 seems like "a lot", compared to the hundreds, maybe thousands who own but didn't post any issues, it's actually like a smaller number. However, I do agree that for the money, T2 represents a small "upgrade" to the T1. For this you may have to ask yourself if the T2 represent the upgrade you've been waiting for over issues you may have with the T1. Some people buy with the hope that it may improve their photography. It's all very personal. All I can say is that the T2 is a lot of camera. I suspect that T2 owners won't be tempted to upgrade to the T3 when the time comes.
