It's interesting that even with digital, the ETTR (expose to the right) technique works. That's not to say that we can clip the highlights, as many have misunderstood.

This is a very interesting article. In a lot of ways, I am experiencing the same. With film especially. "The biggest misconception resulting from the zone system is the suggested correlation between tonal values in a scene and tonal values in your print or scan". http://www.johnnypatience.com/the-zone-system-is-dead/

You are right. But the lack of AF points on the 5Dc makes it a little more tedious.
-
I'm sure the Pro1 would do that. Different way of photography. Good luck.
-
Hope this gives you a good idea. 1st by 5Dc. 2nd by Pro1. The Pro1 gives slightly increased DOF due to the crop sensor. I don't think the Pro1 is an upgrade from the 5Dc. They are very similar and yes, you can get very close results.

The XPro1 is very close in picture IQ to the 5Dc. The bokeh of the 5Dc+85 F1.2 is still better than the XPro1+56 F1.2. What you gain is AF accuracy, sharpness and slightly better high ISO performance. The auto ISO feature on the Pro1 is a real bonus when you're shooting on the go. In that respect, the lighter weight of the Pro1+56 F1.2 is very conducive for long hour shoots or if you want to shoot on site.

Well, looks like film just got a spot at FOAM. Simply awesome. http://www.bjp-online.com/2016/10/japanese-photographer-hiroshi-sugimoto-given-major-solo-exhibition-at-foam/ https://www.artsy.net/artist/hiroshi-sugimoto/works Of all film formats, I love the large format. I don't think digital can recreate it's effect.

I think that many would agree with you. In most ways, myself included. I was feeling happy with the notion that we need 156 mpix to match that of 35mm film. This give the implication that we're not buying just the hype. Makes me feel that my desire buy above 24mpix, justifiable. Whether anyone agrees with this is of course, very personal. Myself included.

Billingham bag - Musty smell.

That's great! Enjoy yr new bag. Always one of my favorite! -
Nice. Really showcases what the xf27 can do.

Unless you have precision press machine, I wouldn't advice you to try yourself. I would stop using this lens immediately and send it in for checks and a focus collar replacement by Fujifilm. If you continue to force the focus collar, you may damage something internally. It's probably just pinched focus assembly at the moment but even then it may cause metal shavings in your lens.

Wow....I'm very happy for you! And what better ways to you use your Fujifilm! Enjoy. It's undoubtedly the best times of your life. Cherish!

Congratulations?

Perhaps, Fujifilm is still relatively young compared to Nikon. In a couple of years, it'll be complete to compete with the big boys. I like what you've achieved with your IR X-Pro1. Nice. http://eng.roguski.eu/2016/09/27/fujifilm-x-t1-ir-black-white-in-infrared/

I think that there are no value one can put on a photograph which means something to you. So, yeah, I would say it's worth it as long as you can afford it.

Nicely done! And what a SUPERB replica!

For in camera charging, yes. Any certified usb supply is ok.

camera x-t10 is too bright when shooting in dark!
Aswald replied to Lea's topic in General Discussion
I normally tape a black cloth over the LCD during long exposures at night. I tape the top sides only so that it's hinged. A bit of black tape over any leds helps too. -
The very reason for the "random" color pixel arrangements on the X-trans. I've noticed that older digital cameras tend to look more "analogue" than newer ones. I. e. Pro1 has a bit more "character" than Pro2 while Pro2 is up there with the newest sensors/cameras. Also, the same reason why LEICA pics looks the way they do...... Subliminally, the market demands are pushing photography into a new phase?
-
Thanks for the input Bob. I think that most of us would be able to agree with you. Perhaps it's the "look" or "soul" of film which is difficult to replicate? Resolution is just one of the attribute. Just like how analogue music (think LP) is now on the rise in popularity despite hi res being around for a good number of years now, perhaps film has something to offer that digital don't. I love both formats and this is just for discussion sake.

Rumors: Fujifilm Will Release a Dark Grey Fujifilm X-Pro2
Aswald replied to gregor_24's topic in General Discussion
Nice. Although I prefer the Graphite render....have to see it first. -
Don't think anything will prevent fungus. In this respect WR is like a double edge sword. Keeps it out but once inside, it also keeps it in. Some theory suggests that a well ventilated lens design doesn't capture moisture as much. From what I know, WR lenses still breathes, just controlled breathing as the design calls for very specific air tunneling. Best bet is still to store all lenses well and clean. WR or not.

Aswald replied to Sator-Photography's topic in Fuji GFX 50R / GFX 50S / GFX 50SII
That's what I understand too.
