  1. I'm relieved I'm not the only one who finds micro 4/3rd noisy past iso800. Do you think the OMD-EM1 mk2 is any better? Loved everything about the mk1 except the noise.
  2. Let's start another thread and rant about this ranting! Chill out guys. It's part and parcel of any forums. Just weed out the good, the bad and the ugly. For most parts, most people are contributing something even though others may disagree. Doesn't make one wrong or right. Just difference in opinions. The trick is perhaps not to take things too personally....it'll start to read more humorously after that. Please don't troll me.
  3. Nice. I love the 90 and now I love it even more!
  4. 35mm F1.4 mk2 would be good. Currently the noise and focusing could be better. I dunno, the 18mm while it's nifty......it just doesn't shine.
  5. Normally it's cleaner. I yanked both cameras out of my bag to take this snapshot to be uploaded. I was in the middle of a week long assignment. I use a lint free or lens cloth lightly damped with some warm water and they're good. Otherwise the occasional light air vacuum/soft paint brush keeps it clean enough. Try not to rub too much as that'll only make things worse.
  6. Top : Pro2 Bottom : Pro1 Honestly, in real day to day use, there is virtually no difference.
  7. 16mm is the eye relief distance not size. Whether it's 14mm or 16mm, it just means that your eye should be at that fixed distance away from the vf to be able to see the full vf. It only matters if you wear spectacle.
  8. Eye blow also exists on the Pro1/Pro2 + xf55-200. In fact you can feel air puffing on your eyes even with lenses like the xf60 and xf35. All these just means more dust getting into the lens chambers, sensors and cameras. At this point, I'm just living with it but I'm not liking it. It also explains why xf lenses traps dust after a couple of months using them. I recall feeling the same with Canon's ef100-400 L mk1 (pump action). Compared to the mk2, the mk1 was a dust vacuum. When at places like Myanmar, don't pump too much. The sand gets into everything and is a nuisance really. My cloth was dirty brown when I wiped them down after a day trip to Tonle Sap during a dry spell. Water from splashes on the boat ride will just help the dust get caked into your equipment eventually. If I had a choice, I would've washed them under running water.
  9. Sounds like a scenario where one cannot afford the camera to suddenly stop working.
  10. Well, for one thing, WR is a bit like a double edge sword. Whatever goes in needs to be "professionally" removed. It's not a 100% seal. In that respect, you do need to care for WR lenses, a little differently at that. I think that WR should not even be an "option". It should be a standard feature on all lenses and not have a price differential. We're all guilty of driving this market by merely discussing it! It's just like smartphones. To me, all smartphones should be WR. We shouldn't have to worry about dropping one in the wash momentarily and face a static screen thereafter. For all the technological advancement they boast, a little moisture and poof! Food for thought.
  11. Interesting to see your project come to fruition. I'm following. Thanks.
  12. WR is good to have if you photograph in extreme scenarios. Think rain forests, sand dunes, torrential rain, volcaoes, swamps, sea, sand, etc....even wildlife photography can be punishing on non wr lenses.
  13. Thanks for sharing. Rather simple construction and that circlip! I guess, the tolerance is needed for the aperture diaphragm to work easily.
  14. Good to share thoughts, David. I had a tough time shooting at the 400mm end of the fantastic 100-400. Desperately looking for a field scope when I was using that! You must have very steady hands.... Are people still into bridge cameras? I'm not sure but it would seem to me most brands are not doing well in that sector. Once OPPO successfully get their zoom smartphones going, it'll probably spell the end of things for bridge cameras. http://androidandme.com/2017/02/news/oppo-shows-off-slim-5x-zoom-camera-setup/
  15. Which is why my nephew got his Nikon 1.......I can't help but feel as if it was made for "juniors" having a stab at photography. Generation 1 even had slow mo at the cost of pittance for resolution. I was scratching my head then and still do so now. RX100 iv
  16. The QLM assembly could be one of the reason. If you look at the lens design, there is a lot of space between element groups making the lens longer. The design probably calls for the spacing for excellent focal plane edge to edge.
  17. It's light and quite comfortable on both the Pro and T bodies. Good balance and produces superb images. I also think it's the best pic. iq lens from Fujifilm.
