A panorama shot with my XT1 + 14mm in Surrey, England. The photo was processed entirely in lightroom, with exception of some clone stamp use in photoshop at the end. Leith Hill by naddan28, on Flickr

I've never had experience of the longer lenses referred too, but really like my 50-140mm. One thing to consider is size/bulk. Anything other than the xt1 might be difficult to handle.

Landscape camera rucksack

Thanks. I decided to go with the large flipside sport (20aw). -
The presets set out in the following blog post which talks about sharpening in Lightroom for Fuji Xtrans. http://petebridgwood.com/wp/2014/10/x-trans-sharpening/

Fair enough, I wondered whether it was linked to the grass/foliage issues from RAW. C1 is meant to be very good at eliminating this issue and LR has come on a long way since. Perhaps you should give it a go this autumn and see whether its's worth the shift? I use raw sharpening presets for the XT1 and then adjust masking to eliminate excessive sharpening to sky dtc. Seems to work okay but certainly Lightroom could step up its game, when it comes to Xtrans.

Can I ask why you believe it rocks for seascapes but not landscapes? Just curious as the two types overlap quite heavily, I've not had a chance to shoot any seascapes with my kit yet, looking forward to it though!

thanks! Not bad for a camera that can't do landscapes

Hi is anyone using this lens with a lee seven5 or hitech 85mm filter kit? I'm curious as to whether you'll get any vignetting at 16mm.
-
I'm a bit confused, are you suggesting you'd carry all 5 lens in one go when travelling? In which case I think the weight complaints about the 16-55mm and 50-140mm are somewhat of a mute point, as you'd cover virtually of the range above with two high quality lenses and only be losing a stop or so in the mid range and 75mm or so at the long end but also gaining weather sealing throughout. My travel kits depend on where I am going etc but broadly: city break/weekend: XT1, 14mm, 35mm and 56mm serious photo holiday/landscape trip: XT1 + grip, 14mm, 16-55mm, 50-140mm and then maybe the upcoming longer lenses.
-
Renting a 16-55mm plus grip might be the answer then? It sounds like weight/balance aside, the 16-55mm is the "right" lens for the job and the grip should help address the balance, whilst also making the XT1 more ergonomic in portrait format. I love my grip when shooting family portraits etc, especially with the larger lenses like the 56mm and 50-140mm.

Landscape camera rucksack
Naddan28 replied to Naddan28's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
Thanks guys. The Fstop bags look great too but not available here in the UK yet. FKM do you get all that stuff in the actual camera compartment? Looking at the website I just wouldn't have thought that's possible! -
Thanks for sharing Mark. What experience do you have of printing from you Fuji X? I'm thinking of getting a 16x24 printed, I'm not to worried about technique etc as it was taken at base ISO, 14mm prime, mid aperture and tripod mounted. Any potential issues should therefore limited to the sensor's resolution.

That's interesting Mark. Are you referring to prints or viewing on a screen? 24mp should give A2 at 300dpi or give a bit more space for cropping etc.

Hi all, I was hoping for some camera rucksack recommendations for landscape photography. I've currently got a flipsside sport 10AWL which is okay but to small. I'm after something to accommodate: Tripod 85mm filter kit plus filters 14mm 16-55mm 50-140mm Plus another long lens and other odds and sods Any ideas? Dan

I just don't understand it either a few bracketing options such as varying the number of frames taken and the gap between the frames. Eg 5 frames, covering 1EV each would be great!

Thanks @Colourix, those Iceland images were just the ticket and helpful to hear good feedback on A2 prints! Marc it's great to hear the resolution is up there with the Fuji primes, I just wish the XT1 had another 8mp to utilise the quality of the glass the system has.

Hi all, I was wondering whether anyone's shooting landscapes with the 16-55mm lens. I am off to the lake district in October and thought I might add this to my kitbag to get the benefit of WR but I can't see many landscape samples online from this lens. Just wondered what people's thoughts were? Also as an aside, has anyone had any issues printing large (A3+) with this lens, compared to images taken with primes (I normally shoot with a 14mm and 35mm in this range)? Thanks in advance.

I've used DSCL before when I shot M43 and the results were great, including a 36"x12" pano. Unfortunately they appear to have since moved to a colour corrected only print service, something that I don't currently have the setup to support. I have also used Jessops in store (Kingston) which was a mixed bag (one good, one too dark).

The Fuji fun factor trumps everything else?
Naddan28 replied to fujiisfun's topic in General Discussion
I think it comes close to trumping everything else. I started with the X100S but really fell out of love when I moved over to the XT1 with 14,35 and 56mm lenses. A lot of it is the 50mm FOV vs 35mm FOV, but the XT1 is generally a slicker camera, especially with FW4. I think the X100S might be going up for sale soon. The two improvements I would love to my XT1, to make it close to perfect are: 1) more MP (24-28 would be great, as I really would love to print larger/more cropping leeway) 2) improved AF, preferably far more PDAF sensors on the frame to enable the FW4 tracking in CH mode to work across the entire frame. -
RUMOR: XF100-400 and XF120mmF2.8 delayed!
Naddan28 replied to Patrick FR's topic in Fuji X Rumors & News
The improved AF under FW4 makes long lenses more important, in my opinion. Fuji x bodies will start to become increasingly viable for sports/wildlife photographers but only if the lenses come along too. -
