  1. Last year I got a call from a client asking me to replicate a large chunk of wood that they had hanging in a new office so they could hang it in print, life size, for different offices around the country. The Art was made up of reclaimed wooden railway sleepers from the area their new office building was built. The brief was to make it as hi-res as possible for print & it measured about 2 meters by 1.5 meters. I ended up stitching several shots and moving a few of the planks about in Photoshop later. The final file was just tipping the TIFF limit of 4Gb on output - that was a big hi-res print containing parts of about 20 images. Good days work that day. I know this is talked about a lot from time to time, 'how big can I print from a Fuji camera?' Well I don't know really, outside of the theory and working it out with a calculator, just how big you can print but it's probably very big. For most people I'd say they are asking how big can I print and still have it look good from a few feet away hanging on my wall? Probably quite big, no? OK so I'm not really taking things too seriously here just wanted to show a print I got today, single shot no 'pan-o-stitching' but printed it out at 20x30 inches and the detail in the print is great. I've plonked the camera and lens used to the it on the print for scale. I won't even bother mentioning the models as you'll all know no doubt. The print is a gift for a client. So 16Mpx can print 20x30 inches at great resolution no problem
  2. Hi all, I was wondering whether anyone's shooting landscapes with the 16-55mm lens. I am off to the lake district in October and thought I might add this to my kitbag to get the benefit of WR but I can't see many landscape samples online from this lens. Just wondered what people's thoughts were? Also as an aside, has anyone had any issues printing large (A3+) with this lens, compared to images taken with primes (I normally shoot with a 14mm and 35mm in this range)? Thanks in advance.
  3. Hello, new to Fuji (new x-e3 on the way).....and I'm shopping editing software. I have a large library of digitalized 35mm negatives currently stored in Picasa and Google photos, also misc files from various cameras and sources. I'm considering alternatives to lightroom. I like Luminar and it would likely be my first choice, but surprisingly there is no printing module in Luminar, which is important to me. Any input / advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance ! Late
  4. I have recently tried a different printing lab in the UK with great results, its called DSCL. They have Fujifilm logo on the invoice so presume they use paper ect from them. I had a 16x16 inch black and white image done on Fine art Portrait white paper and it is superb, a matt finish that has deep blacks and brilliant whites and very thick, it was £11.66 plus vat, the other paper I used for the color prints was Titanium Lustre, similar to a metalic look and that also was perfect for deep popping color, three prints 12x8 inch £17.49 plus vat, the whole order came to £39.76 including £3.99 postage. I have also used Fujicreate for black and white on photographic paper which were great but not the same deep finish from the other paper mentioned. For photobooks I use CEWE Photoworld, photographic paper, superb quality and I always have the lie flat pages, not cheap but very good quality for doing a special book of a holiday or project, and any problem and they always re print at no charge, customer service is brilliant, I try to design the book and order when they have an offer on which is a few times a year. Another printing Lab I have used is Loxley colour in Scotland, pro service, the ordering set up (roes) takes some getting used to but have had large prints 24x16 and 30x10 with fast turnaround and well packaged, a little more expensive.
