  1. You're missing my whole point. Fuji made the 16-55 to fill the missing gap of the 24-70 (which isn't stabilized). So why would they stabilize it? Not to mention it's what 800 bucks less than the 24-70? Oh and I know a lot of photographers who shoot it on a crop without flash. Not to mention most photographers I know are using primes during the reception. Once the dance floor is full they switch to a wider prime. But wait...I thought there was no flash solution with Fuji? I'm totally confused now. How can he use flash without TTL? Point is, there are solutions if needed, but in most cases, they aren't needed at all. Even though the X-T1 is a crop sensor, everyone I've ever heard talk about high ISO is very surprised by it's performance at high ISO. Have you pushed it? How far have you pushed it? I'm wondering if this is coming from speculation, or experience... Are you a wedding photographer? Most wedding photographers that I know only use the 24-70 when they are getting started, pretty soon they switch to primes, and use the 70-200 during ceremony.
  2. Fuji does have a flash. Just not TTL. Which they are working on. If you weren't happy with the current line up, I'm curious as to why you own any Fujis at all. There are a lot of wedding photographers that use the 24-70 and don't use flash. A lens that isn't stabilized by the way.
  3. I don't get the whole 16-55 debacle either. And when you compare it to the 24-70? The 24-70 isn't stabilized either so I don't get comparison. Fuji handles high ISO very well, so I don't understand the need for all this OIS and IBIS. How did you guys ever handle a film camera? I think the 50-140 has been estimated at 5 stops? The 55-200 at 4? I think that's what I've heard anyway...
  4. Is this stuff in your book? I really need to get it.
  5. I think this would be great. I was listening to the WeShootFuji Podcast and they interviewed one of the Fuji reps who talked about the 16, and why they made the 16 with it so close to the 14. He had stated that they made it because the focal length is such an iconic length and they considered it part of their fast lens group, like the 23, 35 and 56. However given the issues many have with the 35, this would be a great opportunity to make this lens.
  6. 1. I adjust my shutter speed dial with my index finger every time I adjust my shutter speed. I really don't know how much easier it could get for you honestly. It was so natural to me, that I actually had to just check to make sure that's how I do it. Shooting manual is a complete and utter joy with the X-T1. 2. I don't have any problems with metering because I am shooting in manual. When I shoot in AP, I just meter and recompose. Don't really see a problem with this because I've been doing it for so long. Perhaps I don't understand what you are asking for here, but honestly with photography isn't there always a compromise? I shoot raw and recover what I can in post. Decisions about what I'm metering for are made on the spot and I adjust my settings accordingly. 3. Not sure what's going to make you happy here, but we all know Fuji is still fleshing out their lens line up. To compare them to an established DSLR market like Canon or Nikon, or a M43 market with a crap ton of lenses just isn't right. If they didn't have what you wanted and you didn't want to wait, you probably shouldn't have come to Fuji at this time. They are working hard to cover all their bases with lenses, then they'll go back and fill in some holes. Give them time. 4. We all know Fuji is working on this, and have been for quite some time. When they bring a system out, it will meet the demands of their customer base, until then, you'll just have to carry a little bit of extra equipment. I have no doubts that Fuji is striving for something unique and original. 5. Just the way it is. Buy to X-T1's..Problem solved. One battery. One charger...
  7. Not to mention all of the Sony Mirrorless are full frame. That is where Sony has chose to invest. Fuji chose the APS-C and they are developing an entire line of lenses on this sensor size. Sony is doing the same for full frame. I looked into the A7 series before I bought my X-T1 and settled on the X-T1 (naturally) because of glass, cost, size, and Fuji's great ability and willingness to respond to their customer base. The Sony's are very nice though, and I know there are a lot of photographers who use and love the A7's...
  8. I really like this Prabbit. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
  9. Big Head Taco pours a bottle of water over the X-T1 and then shoots with it. If I remember correctly he had the 18-135 on it. I think it's important. The sealing isn't just for water.
  10. There is a way to buy two of the thinner BlackRapid Straps and couple them together. If you look at their accessories page I believe they show how to do it.
  11. Link to Article: http://www.shutterbug.com/content/5-reasons-mirrorless-telephoto-lenses-are-great-photographing-wildlife-nature Fuji with 2 lenses on the list, the 50-140 (naturally) they gave the 55-200 props as well. FW 4.0 can't get here soon enough. How much will those changes in AF help with wildlife photography in your opinion?
  12. I'm in the same boat you are. I've been lusting after one ever since I started researching Fuji. It's still on my list, but I need to flesh out my lens collection first. However I don't plan to buy a 23, because I plan to fill that spot with one of the X100's. I am always checking Adorama, B&H, and KEH hoping to find a great deal on a used one just in case though.
  13. Like owjcave stated, Bokeh is for isolating your subject. There is nothing compositionally wrong with the swing set image IMO, but there are too many distracting elements in the background though.
  14. I have greatly considered the Lee system, but I need to do some more research. I am just unsure if I should invest in the 75, or the 100. I don't own a lens that is too wide for the 75 at the moment, but that's only because I don't have any wide angles at the moment. They are on my list though and they will be part of my kit, but I do find a need for some ND's now, and especially when I move to Georgia I will need some for sure.
  15. Aren't they making it because it is exactly 50? If that's the case then I completely see the attraction. 50 is a great focal length, and hugely popular with a lot of photographers. It's all I shot in film for a very long time, and it's the only lens I own on my AE. I always forget the crop factor, (1.5x is it, or 1.3x?), but isn't this also the case with the 56? Isn't it exactly 85? If I'm wrong in this then please forgive me but I am sure I read this somewhere because folks were all like "56? Really? That's odd.."
  16. Ansel Adams: "The Negative" and "The Print" I believe both are available in ebook format or PDF for free on the internet.
  17. I put my camera in manual and use the AF-L button to lock in focus. I haven't noticed that it's any faster or slower, but it just works better for me to do it this way. You just can't forget to push it again if you move your feet to zoom your lens. Best part is that you don't have to keep recomposing because you've locked your focus and it's in manual. I just hate having to hold the shutter halfway all the time. Anyway, I prefer it. You might give it a try.
  18. Thank You Trenton. I hadn't realized anything other than the RR-90 would work with the X-T1. I do like this one better. I wouldn't have to count out my seconds it seems with this remote..
  19. I love it. Color, subject, composition...Wonderful I also got the New England feeling from it.
  20. Did you blur in post? I am not criticizing. I like the feeling it gives the photo. Feels as if it sucks you in, but my eyes are drawn to the left and right top corners because they are so soft, then I am pulled through the image along the path and into the fog. More so the left.
  21. How did you release your shutter? Cable release? Fuji CamRemote App? I have not tried the app to see if I can expose for multiple seconds on Bulb yet by using the app, but really want to try this.
  22. I find my eyes doing a continuous circle from the kids to the ice cream man and back to the kids. Wonderful capture.
  23. My favorite in the thread so far. Absolutely stunning. Framing is great, processing is awesome. How did you have time to get low and frame so quickly? What did you shoot with/at?
  24. I like the position of the man. It makes me wonder what he is thinking. Is he upset? Where is he going? Is he going home defeated? Is he leaving defeated in hopes of starting fresh somewhere new? It's a lot of bags, is it everything he owns? The processing pushes me towards this line of thought. Great image. This is one of the things I love about street photography. The cropping at top bothered me at first as well, until I read your process for the crop. I though for a second, could we not move to the right to hide the head behind the man, then his head below the back doesn't work. Could we shoot low and try and hide the head? But then how would that effect the feel of the image? I would have probably just cropped that out too. Street Photography is so hard for me because I would have analyzed this situation to death until the moment passed. I really don't know how you guys do it. You just see these moments unfurl in front of you, and you frame and shoot. I truly respect your form of photography and I continue to try my hand at it, only to fail so far. I will keep trying because I love the form so much. Perhaps when I get my 35mm, it will open up a whole new perspective for me. Keep up the good work..
  25. An 8x10 digital back that costs as much as a house, is only 10mp that he uses for proofing? Does sound like a waste of money. I do see the allure of the 8x10 format however. I used to work on a HK Autofocus Enlarger, and would do 8x10 chromes. Man you could really get those suckers huge. I had to have a ladder to adjust the carrier. Excellent detail too. Does seem like he could have come up with a better solution for proofing though...
