I have read that the Android app works thru a router. The app can't command the camera directly(?). So another gadget to lug around, hmmm

Seems like Nissan has a hot shoe to USB adapter (to update firmware) but available to dealers only, so yes if bought one from Amazon I'd have to send it in, to a repair shop. Bummer

Just got back from a quickee walking tour of Washington DC monuments. Carrying XPro-2 wd 16-55 f2.8 plus some small accessories in an Atura photo Sling Bag. Can't recommend this bag. I just got back from trying for a,sunrise HDR with my XPro-2 and was surprised how difficult it was to get the menu up on the LCD panel. I wanted to check the battery state and only after a bit of fiddling did I see (on the LCD) that the battery was down to 15%. I'm sure there's a better way to get the battery state displayed buy my effort reinforced what you are asking for (I think) - to be able to have the LCD display the setup menu irregardless of which viewfinder mode (optical, electronic, combi, or LCD) I am using to operate the camera.
