  1. I believe there is a bug but it might only affect you if you shoot a single card, or have the cards set for backup or sequential. Normally, I shoot with raw/jpg split on the cards. I write the raws to the fast card in the first slot, and the smaller jpgs to the card in the second slot. Just for jollies I went to a "backup" configuration on the card selection and I had that very problem: no jpg images, only raws. This was despite the fact that I had a raw + fine jpg mode selected for the camera. A side note about raw images appearing initially as the film simulation: every raw file has an embedded jpg. In fact, there's a product called "Instant JPG from Raw" or something like that and it can extract that jpg from almost any raw format of any camera. The jpg embedded in the raw is an image of what the final jpg would be but not necessarily of highest quality. Anyway, if you divide image types across the cards, jpgs still work -- at least for me.
  2. People like you are the reason I don't usually post on forums anymore. They guy told you what his experience was, and if he didn't want to do your test, well what of it? You had to be an a-hole to him just because he didn't get with your program. Sheesh. Lighten up. You're Kim Carsons not Kit Carson.
  3. Thanks all. I have updated to X-PRO2 v2.01 and my i40 works perfectly in TTL but no HSS functionality. Bummer but for now that will do. Hoping for HSS down the pike.
  4. Again, thanks. I'm holding off updating my X-Pro2 until this finalizes. In the great scheme of things, that HSS is certainly not a go-to thing for me in regular shooting by a long shot -- but I like having that available. And in the same vein, for what I do I'm absolutely in love with the X-Pro2 with the 1.02 firmware. I can see that there are nice enhancements with 2.0 I'd like to have, but don't actually need. Much appreciate the comments and follow ups, folks, thanks.
  5. Lots of good information, thank you. Not all encouraging information, lol -- but at least it's being worked on. The one I have does work in TTL with my X-Pro2 with the 1.02 firmware. No clue what's in the flash but I bought it used so it's probably the original stock firmware. I haven't had it long but I was on the back deck doing head-shot "portraits" of a hand puppet to try out the HSS and it worked very well indeed. I was able to shoot at 1/2000 at f/2 and 200 ISO to darken the background and use the flash to illuminate the puppet. Haven't been able to do anything like that except with my X100S in the past so it's nice to have. Anyway, thanks again.
  6. Hi all, From the USA, state of Pennsylvania -- and I hate forums. BUT, you all are so knowledgeable (when you're not arguing senselessly) that I finally had to join. I've shot a number of X cameras from the original X100 up to my current X-Pro2. I've slimmed my kit down since I'm primarily just an art photographer and shoot only primes now. I don't have enough time for photography. I'm sure you feel the same. Love my system but I'm not a fanboy -- it's a means to an end and for me the best means. I used to shoot Nikon DSLR's and back in the day Ricoh and going back to my childhood in the 1960's I got started with a Kodak Pony 135 Model C and Ektachrome slide film. It's been a long strange trip through medium format "reflex" waist level shooters, to SLR's, to cheap digital and finally DSLR's. I had a brief flirtation with micro four thirds which is really very good, but not for me in the long run. Anyway, hi all.
  7. Perhaps this belongs in flash photography? If so my apologies but it's related to the firmware upgrade. Has anyone tried TTL and HSS with the Nissin i40 with the new firmware? I love this little thing and don't want to give up the HSS option but considering how it works (or doesn't) with the X-T2 I'm not optimistic. I'm not going for the firmware upgrade until there's some clarity on all this. Now, from what I'm reading, with the X-T2 the i40 can be sent back for a firmware upgrade for new compatibility, but HSS remains broken even after the upgrade. If anyone has an X-Pro2 with the new firmware and an i40 who could test this, it would be much appreciated, thanks.
