Fujifilm XF 56mm F1.2 R WR vs. Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN lens
George_P replied to TumblingTiger's topic in Fuji X Lenses
Don’t listen to this guy, he’s a Sigma sales rep ! 😁 Just kidding. Thanks for sharing, tt. The only non-Fuji lens I have are Samyang 12 and 8 mm. I have the 50 f2 (and the 90 f2 and others) and a 56 was not on my radar, but it is very interesting to read what you wrote. Thanks for your candid opinions. I don’t recall reading anything to that effect in any of the reviews of the Fuji 56 1.2 WR that I have read so far. I would like to buy an f1.4 lens, I haven’t decided on the focal length yet (18/23/33). I will probably go for the new Fuji lenses (these all have the LM) since I have the X-T5 but I have been tempted by the Sigma DC lenses, considering the price difference, esp. as I am just an amateur hobby photographer. -
I like the bokeh from the 50f2. The 56 can be even more bokehy but at f1.2 the DOF is very narrow and at a wedding you will likely not have peace and time for careful shots. The 56 is also much bigger, heavier and more expensive. I have the 90f2 and that is a beauty but it needs space for a portrait. You can use the 50f2 very well for travel, I use it a lot for landscapes etc. But you already have the 33 and in confined space that may be better. Maybe even shorter, the 23 f1.4 would be very useful for a wedding. Depends on the venue etc.

Thanks lads, I stand corrected re. C1 Express. But owl, seeing you have the X-E1, I wonder if you could use an older issue of C1 in the Express version (until you buy one of the new cameras). Or is it no longer possible. OTOH the full version has very useful functions like fast, easy masking, layers etc. I too have the perpetual 2023 version, I upgraded to it in 2022. But recently I bought the subscription to keep getting the new features as they come (and support for new cameras and lenses). The price seems fair to me, but of course we all have different needs. The Fuji 23mm f2 is a very good lens, small, light and weather sealed. (unless you need f1.4 and focusing from very short distance and even nicer bokeh and sharpness in the corners wide open). The 35mm f2 is superb (again, the 33mm f1.4 has its advantages and disadvantages). Depends.

Small and good: Nitecore FX-3

Capture One is very good for Fujifilm X-Trans sensors, I’d say the best. Perhaps you would like to try the free version and maybe later on switch to the subscription, which has more functions and tools. They have good tutorials so you should be able to get started easily. https://fujifilm-x.com/en-us/capture-one-express/ I have the Samyang 12mm f2 and it is very sharp.

Jerryy, Greybeard, interesting thoughts. I’d never consider not keeping the raws + their edits (in my case in C1). I make the jpegs from them as needed for a particular use (like for printing at a certain size on a certain paper or for the web etc.) I think of them as disposable or single-purpose files. But your post makes me wonder what will happen when me and/or my C1 is no longer there, when no one is there to continue using the images this way. I should start making an archive in some generally useful jpeg version (or teach at least one of my three sons to use my C1 environment so that they can get to the images they may want in the future). In the older days (before Fujifilm, on Canon) that is what I did (I mean the general jpegs besides keeping the raw). In the excitement from the journey from Canon to mirrorless, X-Trans, all the different raw sw (Silkypix etc. etc.), up to current C1 with the fantastic possibilities and image quality… this aspect got out of my sight.

+1 me too ! Best season’s wishes to everyone.

Try the Godox XPro-F and the above mentioned or any other Godox Li-Ion powered flash. Great products, I think and tremendous value. If you want it small for travels and for on/off camera use, look at LightPix products.

It drinks too much obviously. Lock your bar !

Mini flash advice needed (can use with trigger)
George_P replied to Marimera's topic in Flash Photography with Fuji X
Yes, I have two of them too. I used them for travels, with the FlashQ trigger & receivers (also from Lightpix). I also have the Godox system and I am very happy with it. This is too late for the OP I am afraid, but somebody else might find it useful, so. -
Howdy, jerryy. Nice ! 200mm ? What lens did you use ?

I use V90 Sandisk without issues.

XT-5 Shutting Off When I am using Godox
George_P replied to Jason Wallis's topic in Fuji X-T5 / Fuji X-T50
After upgrading firmware to V2.01 my X-T5 works just as well with the X-Prof F, without any issues, as far as I can tell. -
XT-5 Shutting Off When I am using Godox
George_P replied to Jason Wallis's topic in Fuji X-T5 / Fuji X-T50
Jason, I have the X-Pro F at V1.0 and the X-T5 at V1.04, with the Godox AD-200 and V860II F. I experience no issues. Everything works just fine, also with my X-T2. I recall once, a few years ago, with the X-T2, while using the X-Pro F, the shutter started firing rapidly after I took a shot (I was in Single Shot drive mode). I switched the camera off quickly, surprised. I had a third party accumulator in the camera at that moment, an older one, already quite well discharged. I swapped the accu and everything returned back to normal straightaway. I decommisioned that accu afterwards. No issues ever since. I am sorry I cannot help further. George -
I’ve found the X-T5 to be a capable camera for motor sports.

Great shots, thanks for sharing. -
FUJIFILM X-T5 AF-S priority "focus" doesn´t priorize focus
George_P replied to Petr's topic in Fuji X-T5 / Fuji X-T50
I am sorry that you have a bad experience, nothing comes to mind that I could advise you except ask for a replacement. I have no problems whatsoever with my 5. Every now and then a problem happens with a product from any manufacturer. A few years ago I got a bad (soft) 90f2. I took it back to the shop and got another one that is perfect. -
I second what Jerryy and Jorge said. A certain (very small) percentage of even the best products of even the best manufacturers can occasionally be faulty and when that happens, it gets talked about a lot. Happens also to every camera manufacturer. Everything in my signature (to borrow this way of putting it from Jorge) has been working perfectly well for years. Except for the X-T5 which is fairly recent obviously and which for its price is a no-brainer, I think. Go grab one and enjoy ! A lovely piece of kit. And post some photos for us to see. Cheers J&J !

WiFi Connection Issues, X-T30 - Completely Stuck!
George_P replied to LouiseScot's topic in Newbie / Self Introduction
Hey, cheer up my friend. I was just joking, I did not want to bring you down. Don’t worry, some other new camera will come that you will like. Maybe sooner than you think, time flies by too fast anyway. I am still happy with my X-T2. But I know you don’t like the DSLR style and you’re waiting for something to replace your X-E2S, am I right ? -

Hi Louise, Jerry, mdm, I am late to the party but: You have to divide the transfer speed of your Wi-Fi standard by the number on your ocular. 🍷 -
Strange sound from my Fujix-h1

I do not have that camera but if the sound is coming from the lens, it could be normal. -

I hope you will get some nice Fuji lens eventually. You can see in my footer what I have, I put it there so that others know what items I might be able to give some advice about. I had Canon before but I really love Fuji. George -

So do I. So you will be using the X-T30 for science ? Aahhh, I was looking forward to some Scottish landscapes. 🙂 -
WiFi Connection Issues, X-T30 - Completely Stuck!

You solved it all by yourself, the two of us were no help really. Great ! I am glad it works. My son is studying what I would call "genetics" to keep it simple at Edinburgh. I did radioelectronics/telecommunications, I graduated 1986, but I switched to computers early on. That means you can't be old ! All the best, cheers. George
