18mm f/2 - Your experience/opinion on this lens?
Tikcus replied to Hermelin's topic in Fuji X Lenses
Really like mine, going to be the primary lens I use on a city trip next week. Personally I've never had any issues optically, but at same time, I am not pixel peeping -
Scrap the adverts, charge a small sub

I rember Sonyalphalab.com had that problem last year, may want to speak to Jay, to find out what it was and how he fixed it

Now that the 100-400 lens is here, I feel it is less likely that a replacement to the XS-1 will be released, however, I still feel there are users waiting for a high quality super zoom bridge camera at the right price Sony have the RX10-2 with a "Zeiss" 24-200 F/2.8 (135 Eqv) Panasonic have the DMC-FZ1000 EB with a Leica 25-400 F/2.8- F/4 (135 Eqv) Both are 20MP, the Sony's F/2.8 through the whole zoom is nice, but it lacks reach, the Panasonic is longer and still fast at F/4 at the Tele end The Sony sells in the uk for around £1000, the Panasonic for just over half (although is now a few years old) If Fuji released a replacement for the XS-1, something a long the following Improved high ISO performance Retain the 600mm reach New IBIS Competitively priced I'm not really screaming for a bigger sensor, although would not complain as long as it did not make the camera excessively bigger or heavier than the X-S1 The crop factor moving from 3/4 sensor in X-S1 to 1" goes from 3.9 to 2.7, so there is no getting around more glass is needed to get the same reach, so it would most likely be bigger .................Edit................ I'd be happy with the X30's sensor & processor, and more modern features in a MKII model of the X-S1, X-Trans II Sensor & Processor New Viewfinder New Screen Wifi Basically take the X30, build it into the X-S1 Body with the X-S1 Lens, and release it as a mark II camera It would be cheap for Fuji to do (R&D wise) and would arguably be the best super zoom camera on the market. Would replace the aging MK 1 X-S1 and be a nice secondary/Safari/wildlife camera.

I really like the mark 1. I expect Fuji to replace all mark 1 lenses with WR versions once the road map is complete. However I hope these are not all slower, I'd prefer they released like for like with the newer tech improvements in the more modern lenses, and retiring version 1 lenses; rather than having two lenses at every focal length where you potentially have to chose between speed and WR. as I have the 60mm F/2.4 macro (which I like) I am very unlikely to buy rev 2 of this lens, however the 56 F/1.2 is in my 'Wish list', if rev 2 was released at F/2, it would be of a lot less interest as it would be very close to the 60mm in both focal length and light gathering. I am pretty happy with the lenses I use, the 18 F/2, 35 F/1.4 and 60 F/2.4 (the original lenses) Although I have other lenses, I generally find I can use the manual zoom (at the end of my legs) to frame a shot correctly, and those 3 are the ones i carry with me

I really wish I could get excited about an XT-2, but I really don't care that much about video, and the other improvements (in the X-Pro 2 a least) are nice, but nothing that screams buy this now (compared to what I own). I just hope some of the "Premium" features, faster card support, bigger buffer, X-Trans 3 sensor & Pro processor, make there way into the next mid range models (XT-20/XE-3). I fully expect the new sensor and processor, unfortunately I suspect some other premium features will be kept on the Premium models only.

Using a Lexar Professional SDXCII 150MB/s (faster than the XT-10's capability), I concur with addicted2light, more or less 1 second: You take photo 3 mini photos appear on screen You take another photo Personally I never use it, as I use RAW+Fine Then I can use 1 film simulation, and still have the RAW file, if you need ot make changes in Lightroom (or whatever you use)

Hi Mike, I'm mainly use Prime Lenses, although looking forward to getting the XF100-400 As far as non-native lenses I'm having fun with some old (35 year+) Pentax K mount lenses, a 50mm F/2 and a 135mm F/3.5. I got the lenses from a friend, and picked up an adapter on ebay for ~£10. I have linked in the non native lens section to my flickr where I got some test shots

Sure certain professions will appreciate it, but bigger bodies, bigger lenses, more money, not for me 16MP in my APS-C Fujis produce A1 Prints that are good enough

Torn between 27mm f/2.8 and 35mm f/2.0 need your opinions please
Tikcus replied to xtrans's topic in Fuji X Lenses
Why those two lenses? I don't own XF35F/2 I do have the XF-35 F/1.4, and XF-27 F/2.8 If I could only have one, i'd pick the 35. However i'd recommend playing with the focal lengths and see what suits you Fuji has a nice web app to compare focal length http://fujifilmxmount.com/comparison/en/test-our-lenses you may find some cheap lenses 2nd hand, as their was recently a lot of X-Pro 1 packs with xf18 and xf27 sold, so some people will have duplicates edit comparison has been updated to include new lenses -
I've never had the desire to buy a single focal length fixed lens camera. If I was going to shoot one focal length all day long, I'd attach that lens to the camera and that would be that. If I was to buy a secondary fixed lens camera, something that had a variable zoom would be much more useful, to complement what ever prime lens I had on the MILC. I guess I'd find 1 focal length too limiting to justify spending £1000+ Especially when I already have access to an XT-10, X-Pro 1 and X-A1 , with 18, 27, 35 , 60 primes, and XC 16-50 & 50 -230 zooms, granted I am missing the XF23 F/1.4 Prime, but I can adjust with my feet if needed (although I may buy the XF23 F/2.0 if it actually happens). Any of those cameras, with any of the Primes are pretty pocket-able cameras, I don't see the need to get a slightly smaller camera, which is fixed to one focal length. I feel the only way i'd consider a single focal length camera, would be if it came with all the X-Pro 2 improvements and was the cost of a lens for the X Mount

This is most likely to happen *edit* I would not be surprised if they are released later (end of summer onwards) in 2017 or early 2018; especially if the XT-2/XT-20 follows the XT-1/XT-10 of carrying most of the features from the high end product into the mid rang body. To allow time to maximise revenue from the premium products. Buyers like myself when chosen between the XT1 and 10 where they only major hardware differences were Weather Sealing, and a smaller buffer, opted for the XT-10, as neither of those features justified the extra price (for me)

UK dealer (WEX) told me no stock until mid march, guess the wait goes on

I have never used them, but lensesforhire.co.uk, rent both X-Pro1 and XT-1 and numerous fujinon lenses. Prices seem reasonable

go to a camera shop and see what body type you prefer. If you prefer the feel of the X-Pro/rangefinder camera then if the OVF is important to you, by all means go for the X-Pro 2, if the latest and greatest is not so important, the X-Pro 1 is a great camera and available pretty cheap deals in UK a few weeks ago, you got an X-Pro 1 + 18mm F/2, and 27mm F/2.8 for £500. If you prefer the rangefinder style but OVF is not important, you may want to consider the XE-2(S) newer feature compared to the X-Pro 1, significantly cheaper than the X-Pro 2. If you prefer the DSLR style, and don't want to wait for the XT-2, but don't want to spend a lot on an XT-1, that may be about to be replaced, you may want to consider the XT-10. Only you can decide good luck

Travelling Combo X-T1 and Two Lenses (But Which Ones??)
Tikcus replied to bhamx2's topic in Fuji X Lenses
Lenses required depends on what type of photography is being done. For street photography, I use an 18mm F/2 or 35mm F/1.4 and never seem to need to change lenses If I was intending to shoot wildlife, I'd want something longer, xf55-200, xc50-230, or xf100-400 -
Nice video for anyone unsure between or more 2 lenses focal length (3 min 50 sec onwards does a quick run through every lens)

The local camera shop, must not be on first name terms with the Fuji dealer as the stock has not arrived yet

Jealously is creeping in, can't wait to get hold of one

thanks Mike

Is there any issues (or things not working) as the firmware update has not been released for xp1 yet. I know the firmware for XT10, just enabled focus limiter

You'll need to experiment with the settings TBH I use Face detection for people, don't know how it works on pets I do not have that lens, but for a portrait, if I was in a Studio with the XF35F1.4R I would use F8 or F11 so image was sharp corner to corner & ISO 200 If I was outside and wanted to blur out the background, I'd be shooting between F/1.4 & F/2.8, ISO and Shutter speed would depend on light If I wanted to stop a bird in flight i'd be using a shutter speed of 1/1000 of faster (the Aperture and ISO would depend on light) With continuous and burst shooting, I'd experiment good luck
