  1. Time for the next update to my X-Pro1 story! This week I'm taking a look the at the XF18. Enjoy! http://adambonn.com/my-love-affair-with-the-fujifilm-x-pro1/xp1-nineteen/
  2. Did it give you 90mm framelines? (I don't have a 90mm to check)
  3. Maybe you are not changing between 2 lenses that require different magnification The 16 and the 18 or perhaps the 56 and the 90
  4. Lol at Rico, Fujifilm could probably update it I guess....? Like they keep doing with Velvia
  5. It makes the FRAMELINES brighter, not the OVF the digital parts of the OVF are technically the EVF The 90 has been around long enough for Fuji to add OVF compatibility to the XP1 if they were going too... But I hope I'm wrong
  6. Making the EVF brighter makes the OVF brightlines brighter too... I wouldn't hold our collective breathes for a FW that changes anything (other than lens compatibility) on the XP1... Although some have claimed the last update brought a AF increase... Not convinced myself! The XP1 is really quite snappy in bright light! I've been researching how many extra shots you can get using the power save mode (for the website) man the OVF shutter lag is a killer I had a decent store test of the X-Pro2 last week... I quite liked it! The lens mount seemed so might tighter than the XP1 (which on my samples is a bit tighter than my XT1)
  7. OK! Another Sunday, another X-Pro1 article!! Last time out we looked at the ISOless sensor (http://adambonn.com/my-love-affair-with-the-fujifilm-x-pro1/xp1-seventeen/) This week, we examine what I think is the best way to incorporate the ISOless sensor into out workflow... http://adambonn.com/my-love-affair-with-the-fujifilm-x-pro1/xp1-eighteen/ Enjoy!
  8. It's all tongue in cheek, and he's generally quite disparaging (in one way or another) about most cameras... Plus... By and large... He's not that wrong about things.... For example, the X-T10 does represent better VFM than the pro2... He likes leica... But he pokes fun at them... He seems to poke fun at most cameras... It's entertainment at the end of the day... I bet when Huff eventually reviews it, we all like that review even less
  9. C1 v9 Put the 35 f2 on and go shoot a brick wall, load the file into c1 and tell me what you see (hint: distortions)
  10. SilkyPix gets a 'bad rap' amongst a lot of Fuji users, But it's worth (IMHO) remembering they are Fujifilm's software partner.... Of course that doesn't mean it HAS to be good, but it should mean that Fuji share demosaicing info with them, and they can implement this into their products FWIW, I'm glad I gave SP7 a try, and I'm please with the results in context of what I like, what I shoot etc Of course YMMV But I think it's worth mentioning that there are other choices out there!! Oh and in case you're wondering.... NONE of these shots used a Fuji Film Simulation!! Thanks for looking!
  11. from the above shot
  12. from the above shot
  13. I'm not obsessed at all with sharpness.... But in SP it's pretty good IMO, and (more importantly to ME) micro contrast is decent
  14. I found that using the H/S sliders and contrast got me the look I wanted! Shadow and highlights tools are perfectly reasonable and functional IMO...
  15. I've been personally testing SilkyPix V7 Pro lately, and once I got my head round the quirks, I've really been enjoying the photos it makes! When used in conjunction with my X-Pro1, I find that I can get quite a pleasant (to my eye YMMV) 'filmic' look to the images. Here's a couple I liked enough to put on Flickr The Follower by Adam Bonn, on Flickr Low Lights by Adam Bonn, on Flickr The second one got explored, so I guess the flickr bots liked it too!! To begin with I found the images SLIGHTLY flat compared to C1 (I don't really use LR) But it wasn't a big problem Hmmm I don't seem to be able to upload any other files... I'll try in a reply!
  16. Don't laugh.... But I've really got into SilkyPix lately, (the paid one) ok it's a bit quirky (a bit like Fuji X cameras ) but the results work well for me and what I like to shoot.
  17. There's a bug (C1 doesn't read XP2 raf metadata correctly) C1 need to fix it!
  18. My X-Pro1 Love Story: Part 17 This week's X-Pro1 article is the first instalment of looking at the ISOless sensor! What is the ISOless sensor? Are we really now free from the exposure triangle? And after we understand it, can we make it work for us? http://adambonn.com/my-love-affair-with-the-fujifilm-x-pro1/xp1-seventeen/
  19. was your hand back lit by any chance?
  20. Depends on what one has as a definition of a range finder. If it's a camera that has a mechanism for determining range (aka focus by any other name) then pretty much every camera is a range finder If a range finder is deemed as a specific mechanical device to align to images in a view finder (which it blantantly is ) to achieve focus then the Fujis are not range finders... It's a little like a quartz watch and a automatic watch. They're both watches They both tell the time One uses a Quartz crystal to regulate time keeping The other uses a hairspring Both have pros and cons But anyone who says that a Quartz watch has a hairspring is incorrect, sure the Quartz is a kind of electronic hair spring, in that it does the same job as a hairspring. Sure the job they do is quite similar as they both oscillate in order to count time But it's not an actual hairspring, because it works differently, it has different materials, and a different construction. And that's how I see the Messsucher vs the ERF As I've written in the X-Pro1 article... PERSONALLY and I mean PERSONALLY I wish people would embrace the Fuji ERF cameras for what they are, clever designs made by a company with a long hisory of innovation and technology, whose film products have been responsible for some of the most iconic shots in history. Rather than seeing it as a poor man's Leica, forever trying to justify their rantionale by coatailing off the back of Leica's accomplishments. The Fujis deserve their own identity. But that's just me YMMV!
  21. Thanks guys! After posting these I wrote a blog post around it! It's the same shots, but if you fancy some rhetoric, go here!!! http://adambonn.com/2016/05/23/the-stray-cats-of-porto/

  25. Me too and me too! It does so many things that are important very, very well IMO Namely, demosiacing (controlling the strength of demosiacing) and colours, and I don't just mean the Fuji simulations
