  1. Of course there will be an X Pro 2, it will be announced late 2015. The XE2 is still a key platform for Fuji, it will receive selected aspects of Firmware 4.0 later in the year, and there will be an XE3. Ultimately the lineup will be: SLR style - X-T1 and X-T10 Rangefinder style - X Pro2 XE2 XA2 Advanced Compact - X100T and X30 This way they maintain an entry and enthusiast body in each market, with the X Pro an extra for the rangefinder style, but really should be a separate product category, as Fuji views it as the flagship for the X Series.
  2. Unless a second body gives you features you need and otherwise don't have I'd always get a second identical body - the benefits of having an identical performance and UI are too many to mention.
  3. The Rokinon lens is exactly the same lens, and cheaper at most vendors. It's the opposite with the 8mm fisheye - on that one the samyang is cheaper. Get whichever, but personally I'd get the cheaper one since they are identical.
  4. The EVF is the same resolution, but smaller than the X-T1. It will be a LOT better than your X-Pro 1. The buffer of the X-T10 is the big difference between the cameras. It's a lot smaller than the X-T1, and the camera can't take the new faster cards. This means that if you need to shoot fast the X-T10 won't cut it.
  5. Well now you mention it I'm looking forward to being able to set my shutter dial to "T" and use my forward dial to adjust shutter speed. Being able to change shutter speed in manual mode without having to remove my eye from the viewfinder will be a plus! But rather than being sarcastic, consider the useability of the feature you are championing. Have you tried changing ISO in low (or no) light? It's not easy. I end up simply using Auto ISO in low light, which defeats the purpose of an ISO dial anyway. The functionality of the dial is flawed - at least 2-3 times per wedding I lose a shot because the drive dial has been changed when all I've wanted to do is change ISO. The EC dial is fine, and works for me, but if you want to shoot in manual mode the camera as it stands leaves a lot to be desired. The shutter speed change is a welcome addition, and will significantly improve useability.
  6. Having worked with Canon 1Dx and 5D III (and their predecessors) for the past 12 years and having never had an ISO dial all I have to say is that as long as you have a function button dedicated to it you don't need one. Personally I'd prefer no ISO dial on the X-T1.

  8. To see how a smaller fully featured flash looks on the X-T1 just check out the Nissin I-40. Personally I haven't missed HSS flash since moving to fuji - I find all of my flash use is at events in low light and my shutter speed is always slower than 180 anyway. I find the issue with Fuji and flash is more the need to change my screen display settings away from WYSIWYG when shooting with flash. It's a silly thing but I sure wish I had an extra Fn button to assign to it.
  9. Oh, which other classicly styled single focal length body with a hybrid viewfinder was on your shopping list? And assuming there even was one, would that manufacturer provide free upgrades? Seriously, get out and take pictures and stop wingeing on forums, or if it's that important, sell your low mileage X100S and buy a T.
  10. I love the 12mm and find it very flexible, from people to architecture. The 8mm is a special effect lens that I may one day buy ( but I'm sure I'd seldom use it, unlike the 12mm)
  11. I think that firmware updates for the X Pro 1 are unlikely because the X Pro team have been focused on the new body, not supporting a body that (let's face it) was supposed to be replaced already. There's no benefit to upgrading the X Pro as they're not expecting to sell any more of them. The X-T1 gets upgraded because it is still current and they need to keep the firmware for the premium model good to ensure continued sales.
  12. I don't think so - Fuji has a successful line of cameras in the "rangefinder look" format, why would they discontinue it? More likely is product price point differentiation - X-T1 and X-T10 in the DSLR look, X-Pro2 and XE in Rangefinder look, X100T and X30 in fixed lens high end compact.
  13. Cameras are consumable products in today's world - even more so cameras that do not accept interchangeable lenses for future sales. It's all part of the upgrade cycle of the modern consumerist society. Will I complain next year when they release a new X100 with a higher res sensor? No - I made my decision to purchase based upon today, not possible future upgrades. If the improvements are worth it I will upgrade - eg. I just sold my X20 and upgraded to an X30 because I wanted wifi. If you need the latest you pay for it - it doesn't come for free. Personally I support Fuji's approach - it means they are more likely to still be making cameras in10 years time, and not discontinuing or mothballing the line.
  14. Fuji have indicated that they have discontinued Kaizen updates for discontinued models so no chance of any update for the XE-1. While theoretically the X-Pro 1 is still a current body I'd question whether any were still being produced. I think Fuji planned to have the 2 out by now, and so are in a holding pattern until it hits. I don't expect anymore updates.
  15. Is the halo around the buildings an in-camera artefact or has this been processed in another program? It's very obvious at first glance and detracts from the image.
  16. Fuji have made it clear that the Kaizen updates will now only be provided to current model cameras. As the X20 has been replaced by the X30 I consider the likelihood of an update to be very low.
  17. I think it fits the market perfectly. I've got a couple of X-T1s for pro use and they are great but this aligns with buyers looking for their first DSLR. Simpler to use, intelligent Auto, better price point for new buyers - it ticks all the boxes. Those folks won't be on this forum, but they still exist.
  18. I heard that the XT-1 is spec'd for a mean time to failure of 150K actuations.
  19. I think that the focus of the Fuji engineers is on features that the majority of users will use - the demand for multiple exposure is low, the demand for 5 and 7 exposure output is even lower. There are dozens of basic firmware improvements I would implement before messing with this.
  20. No like button in the mobile version!
  21. The size of this lens if of acceptable quality would be of similar dimensions to the 16-55mm f/2.8-4 - so if you like the rangefinder style why not get an X-Pro with the zoom. Much more likely is an X40 with a 1" sensor like most of it's other competitors in the high-end compact market. There was quite a bit of disappointment when the 2/3 sensor was used again, and you can guarantee that there will be a bigger sensor in the next iteration of the model.
