Even though I own some prime lenses, my 18-55, since it came as my kit lens with my X-E1 back in February 2013, has been my "don't leave home without it" lens of choice. You'll be fine with it. I will caution that some folks here on the blog claim to have bad copies of the 18-55 so I would just go shoot and make sure it's a good copy - especially in the sharpness/softness area. Congrats on your purchase!

Have any of you guys checked out the Think Tank Citywalker 10, or 20? Or the Retrospective 5, or 7 series? I own the Citywalker 30 which is very large bag especially for mirrorless, but I will say it holds up to a 15" MBP. I did it two part review on my blog if anyone is interested in it. You can go to my blog in my signature. Please note I get no monetary gain from TT, or from any advertising so I just put it out there as information. Good Luck

I will say the Edison facility is FANTASTIC! I used to have my 2001-2005 Fuji Finepix S1Pro and S2Pro dSLR's tuned, cleaned and repaired (on the rare occasion when needed() there. They are still outstanding!

Certainly: I was shooting three christenings/baptisms back to back in a church. Not your typical church, but a very modern one. Huge skylights over the altar, and large open windows down each side. There was no shortage of light, believe me. For some reason the 56 1.2, which I picked up just for this event either couldn't focus/kept hunting, or it was waaaay too slow. I was using my X-T1, Auto ISO at around ISO 400 if I remember. As I said it was a beautiful afternoon and the church was extremely well lit. The 56 was slowing me down to the point where I swapped it for my 35 1.4, and my 18-55 and shot all afternoon with those two lenses. It was extremely frustrating having the families standing there while the 56 1.2 decided whether it wanted to achieve focus or not. So, next morning I returned it for a refund. Now, I've talked to quite a few people who said it could have been a bad sample but I'm not so sure about that... I was so disappointed I haven't even considered replacing it with another 56. I skirt around it whenever possible, hence the decision between the 50F2 and the 60 2.4.

I think the joystick is kinda worthless
jlmphotos replied to Jwctp's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
Possibly make the speed adjustable... That would work. But, in the most recent firmware (2.00) for the X-T2 there was something about using a particular focus point in horizontal and then when switching to vertical mode, it moves to the same point where you had focused in horizontal but in the vertical mode... Does that make sense? I'm not sure if Fuji really publicized this. I've used it to shoot small kids moving around and it handled itself rather well when I went from shooting vertical to horizontal -- the focus point shifted to where I had focus before (the face). Hard to explain, but it's a new feature in 2.00 Hope that helps. -
Which Slingstrap for X-T2?
jlmphotos replied to Hermelin's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
I attach my PD strap to the SAME side of the camera body. Both of the toggles on my Peak Design are on the side of the camera as the ISO dial if that helps. Though PEAK does ship with a third toggle that will attach to my tripod socket if I wish to do so. -
X-Pro 2 35mm is it something for me?
jlmphotos replied to pranfeuri's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
Not sure anyone answered your question. However, only you can determine if you should buy it. Personally, if size were an issue, I'd would seriously look at an X-E2 with the 18mm F2 or 27mm lens. This is solely based on size/pocketability. I used to shoot an X-E1 four years ago and LOVED IT! The XPro1 or 2 never lit my fire... if you know what I mean. You may want to visit a local camera shop that carries what you are interested in. Or, may I suggest you rent one for a weekend and put it to a test. You'll quickly determine if it's something for you, without the $ involved in purchasing something you may not be happy with. -
I own the Zeiss 12mm 2.8 and the Fuji16 1.4. I did look at the 10-24F4 and it looked great but I rarely go wider than 16 (my LR catalog) shows I don't use my 12mm that often - only for very specific purposes. The 10-24 would be wasted on me. However, it is a beauty, albeit a tad too big and bulky, much like the 16-55 for my taste.

I purchased the 60mm about two months ago and I couldn't be happier! It was a toss-up between the 56 (which I owned and returned), the 50mm F2, and the 60. Since none of the other promised lenses are here, I chose to live with what is currently available. I chose the 60mm and I couldn't be happier. Yes, it's slow, but it does find focus unlike my 56 1.2 that could not, and comparing the 60 2.4 to the 50 F2, the 60 to me, seemed like a better value since I was not only getting a nice portrait range (not that I shoot too many of those) but it also worked as a macro if only 1:2. The price I paid (US479.00) couldn't be beat either. Since I purchased the 60mm I have used that sucker almost every time I've used my camera... It's super tack sharp, bright, and so light I can just shove it in my pocket.

Last time i saw that happen was back, way back in the 80's on my Minolta X-E7 SLR... Never seen this happen on a digital though. Weird....

Firmware Update for X100F, GFX, X-T2, X-Pro2, X-T20 and X-T1
jlmphotos replied to Patrick FR's topic in General Discussion
I am so f'ng thrilled we can now assign back button focus to the wheelie thing instead of that dinky button!!!! I can't tell you how many times i missed focus because of my big fat sausage fingers. Now, a tap of the wheel and off we go!!!!!!!!!!! -
How the heck do you add anything in here?
-
Yes. Initially when i started with the Fuji system, using my X-E1 I had my old Minolta 58mm 1.4 and THAT WAS TACK SHARP! I loved the lens. And fast!

It's quite normal. Enjoy your lens, go forth and shoot brother!

Fuji X-T2 vs. Nikon D750 for Image quality
jlmphotos replied to Smorton's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
I switched from a D800 and a D800e to the X-T1 and the X-T2. Haven't looked back. Enjoying every moment. Images are tack sharp and clear, I've made up to 36 x24 prints, and I couldn't be happier especially knowing I don't have to lug the dSLR around anymore. -
I'm going to buy the X-T2, need some advice
jlmphotos replied to verysame's topic in Fuji X-T2 / Fuji X-T20
The X-T2 is weather sealed, not water proof. Big difference there. The 55-200 is not weather sealed. I have used ALL my Fuji lenses in all types of weather with no ill effects. Maybe I'm just lucky (?) The 18-135 would seem like a good option for you. After that, if she is really into landscapes, I'd go for the 16 1.4 which is weather sealed, and a freakin' amazing lens. I have also read where the 18-135 is "not as sharp" as other lenses in the Fuji line, but I hear many folks here on the forums say it's not an issue so... The only weather sealed lens I have is my 16 1.4, but here's the 60mm after shooting in a downpour. Please don't tell it it's not weather resistant, you'll hurt it's feelings. My favorite camera bag is...
jlmphotos replied to erreflower's topic in Bags, Half Cases & Straps for Fuji X
I feel I have to amend this. Recently, I purchased the Thinktank Citywalker 30 and I've been using it as a walk around bag, office messenger bag, and finally a camera bag. I have my review at my xshooters blog if you care to read the full review. If not, that's cool. I have more updates to post about using it on my first away from home stock/travel trip and I plan to do that later this week.
